The Clock Tower was built between 1403 and 1412, probably finished in 1405. It was built in the market place, then much larger and triangular in shape, its outline still clear in the street plan. The tower was built close to the Eleanor Cross. Twelve Eleanor crosses were constructed throughout eastern England under the orders of King Edward I between 1291 and 1294 in memory of his wife Eleanor of Castile. The site of each cross marks the nightly resting place of Eleanor's funeral procession.
The people of St Albans built the tower as a symbol of their resistance against the power of the abbot of St Albans. By deciding their own times in which to trade and ring curfew they could achieve independence from the dictates of the Abbey.
The Clock Tower contains two bells, one familiarly known as Gabriel and the Market bell. Gabriel is the larger and much older of the two and is so named as result of the inscription on the bell "Missi De Celis Habeo Nomen Gabrielis" ("I am Heaven sent, in Gabriel's name"). Although the date of its construction is unknown, John Harris of the British Archaeological Association believed that it was cast c.1335. Gabriels diameter is approximately 3 ft 10 in and it weighs roughly one ton. Gabriel would have been rung at approximately 4 am in the morning to mark the Angelus, and again at 8–9 pm at night for the curfew. In addition, the bells could also be run in the event of emergencies, this could be something as simple as a fire, or as historic as the First Battle of St Albans, seen as the first battle of the War of the Roses on 22 May, 1455.

One of the features of the Sk8 Park in Grimsby, Ontario is a group of small billboard-style panels specifically intended to host the artistic expressions of those visiting the site. As a result, graffiti is encouraged in places that are acceptable. Furthermore, periodic cleanup of the panels by town staff ensures regular refreshment of the subject matter. This image was taken in mid-February, the dead of Winter, so the snow-covered park was not in regular use and had not been for several months. The last round of painting had been ignored, likely waiting for Spring to get a refresh, with the consequence being the multiple layers of paint had weathered and flaked off leaving colourful abstracts when viewed up close. PP in free open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image width to 9000px, adjust Tone Curve 2 in parametric mode by darkening the ‘Darks’ and ‘Lights’ slightly, enable HDR Tone Mapping and apply a light amount of HDR, enable Shadows/Highlights and recover highlights just enough that the ‘white’ areas of paint show detail/texture, boost contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, set White Balance to Daylight (5300K), boost Vibrance, sharpen (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: increase overall contrast, fine tune overall tonality using the Tone Curves tool, sharpen, save, scale image to 6000px wide, sharpen slightly, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 2048px wide for posting online, sharpen slightly, save.
Standing in City Square in Leeds, Four Seasons' URF 671S is a Bristol VRT/SL3/501 with Eastern Coach Works bodywork, new in 1978 as Potteries 671. Upon withdrawal it passed to Auty, Rushden and was acquired by Four Seasons in 1992.
In 1993 Four Seasons withdrew from service work and URF 671S passed to White Rose. By July 1993 it passed to Clarkson, South Elmsall, where it was reregistered PJI 5526. In 1994 it passed to Mulleys, Ixworth, where it remained until 2006.

Another view of Ipanema from the top of the Hotel Sol Ipanema. The beach is packed because it is the peak of the summer and all cariocas and the tourists pour out to soak in the sun.

The theme for the second week of the year is Bokeh and is supposed to refer to the out of focus areas in the image. For this I used my 85mm prime lens set at f2.8 to hopefully create an interesting oof background. The light was provided by the sun. The flowers are on my Winter flowering cherry tree which provides flowers most of the winter.

Just a simple LBD, black sheer pantyhose and a pair of Leopard Sling Back Ankle Strap High Heels. I didn't know if I would like them, but they are very comfortable and remind me of the 30's & 40's high heels that Women would wear.

This image highlights the location of the galaxy JADES-GS-z6 in a portion of an area of the sky known as GOODS-South, which was observed as part of the JWST Advanced Deep Extragalactic Survey, or JADES.

This galaxy, along with others in this region, were part of a Webb study by an international team of astronomers, who observed the chemical signature of carbon-rich dust grains at redshift ~7. This is roughly equivalent to one billion years after the birth of the Universe. Similar observational signatures have been observed in the much more recent Universe, attributed to complex, carbon-based molecules known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). It is not thought likely, however, that PAHs would have developed within the first billion years of cosmic time. Therefore, this observation suggests the exciting possibility that Webb may have observed a different species of carbon-based molecule: possibly minuscule graphite- or diamond-like grains produced by the earliest stars or supernovae. This observation suggests exciting avenues of investigation into both the production of cosmic dust and the earliest stellar populations in our Universe, and was made possible by Webb’s unprecedented sensitivity.
The team’s research indicates that this particular galaxy showed significant dust obscuration and has undergone substantial metal enrichment relative to galaxies with similar mass at the same redshift. The team also believes the galaxy's visible colour gradient may indicate a peculiar geometrical alignment of stars and dust.
In this image, blue, green, and red were assigned to Webb’s NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) data at 0.9, 1.15, and 1.5 microns; 2.0, 2.77, and 3.55 microns; and 3.56, 4.1, and 4.44 microns (F090W, F115W, and F150W; F200W, F277W, and F335M; and F356W, F410M, and F444W), respectively.
The galaxy is shown zoomed in on a region measuring roughly 1x1 arcseconds, which is a measure of angular distance on the sky. One arcsecond is equal to 1/3600 of one degree of arc (the full Moon has an angular diameter of about 0.5 degrees). The actual size of an object that covers one arcsecond on the sky depends on its distance from the telescope.

scorre acqua e il ponte regge, tiene alle piene anche se mostra qualche crepa, certo avrebbe bisogno di qualche restauro, ma in questo momento di vacche magre non c'è "liquido" disponibile, allora ci si deve fare in quattro per tenere in piedi le campate e, come si dice in questi casi, tirare avanti. Siamo in un Paese che da sempre tira avanti alla bene e meglio, figuriamoci se questa struttura sia diversa dal resto dell'architettura nazionale.
A volte alcune belle ondate hanno dato dei veri e propri scossoni, minacciandolo nelle fondazioni, altre volte lo hanno fatto sentire insicuro, altre ancora ne hanno minato la sicurezza, lui come sempre ha cercato di dare il giusto peso a tutto, in fondo di esondazioni ne ha già viste un bel po' e una in più o una in meno poco cambia, con una mano di un buon Artigiano, ha ripreso la sua funzione primaria: lui non deve osservare la melma che scivola sotto le sue campate, è stato costruito per sorreggere, per sostenere più che meditare sui liquami che scendono dalla montagna, ha il compito di unire più che pensare alla sporcizia trascinata via dalla corrente.
Persone importanti sono passate sopra di lui, incontri, appuntamenti, rincorse, sotto, invece, acqua sporca, detriti e rimasugli di vita ma questi non possono e non devono oscurare ciò che ha deciso di portare avanti con tutto se stesso.
Tutto scorre e va verso il mare, chi ci vive sul mare sa bene che la foce alla fine è una livella naturale, tutto viene ridimensionato e ciò che, ingabbiato da due argini sembra mastodontico, nel mare dell'intelligenza diventa un piccolo importante sassolino, trascinato dalla corrente appunto, che scorre sotto i ponti dell'incontro e della stretta di mano.
Il ponte lo sa, sa bene che non vale la pena perdere tempo per certi rifiuti....il bello sta sempre sopra, sopra c'è il sole, sotto è tutta Munnezz....come direbbero a Napoli.

With wife and son in tow we headed off to Earl Sterndale for a circuit of the Upper Dove. First stop was in Hollinsclough at the Chapel Tea room www.facebook.com/chapeltearoomshollinsclough/?locale=en_GB who have a wonderful range of homemade cakes, then over Hollins and Chrome Hill.
By the time we'd got to the top of Hollins Hill the weather started to look a bit threatening, and we sheltered by the summit tumulus as showers seemed to pass to both sides of us, but we kept dry and watched the lower part of the Peak District getting a downpour
This Photo was taken along time ago in Ramadan we had amazing clouds and such a great sunrise
i took this photo as a last shot before leaving the beach but i notice that there is something missing so I install my HOYA CL polarizer to get the reflection of the clouds in the small pool of water in the foreground after seeing the result i felt that this is the shot that I wanted.
Yeah and it's my birthday again :)

In my quest for a more realistic look I can find myself being a little self defeating.
In this instance and with the whole growing my own hair experiment I have noticed that I have aged a lot. OK not that bad I know and we all age. But with a full wig and full makeup I can look 40 something as opposed to looking 50 something .
I know that's vanity playing its part. the question is at what point do I revert back to wig and makeup? if I don't then how do I move forward especially in the hair department.
would hormones help and if so is that going to change who I am. If I go down that route am I heading for a permanent change. how do I go about it??????

Taken in May, 2009 while he was feeding the last of his offsrping, this image of Poppa Blue shows him in all his glory. He has passed now.
We have been working to establish a relationship with Pinky and her boy, Dusty who come daily for a little extra food and clean water.
Given the progress we have made with them lately, it is likely that they will not only nest here next season, but allow us intimate contact as they raise their family.
What a JOY Bluebirds really are. We are lucky to have them and to be able to share them with all of you.
