The church was built in 1783. The temple was created by order of the owners of the Podzhigorodovo estate of the Yuryev brothers, designed by architect V.I. Bazhenov in the style of Russian pseudo-Gothic.
The temple is two-story: with the lower winter church in the name of the Archangel Michael and the upper summer chapel in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The church is red-brick with white stone decoration. In 1906, the temple was plastered and whitewashed.
In the beauty, among the trees
Face caressed by the summer breeze
Hear the birds sing in the skies
See the clouds, float past your eyes
Walk between the spreading trees
Feel the lovely summer breeze
That falls upon your waiting face
As past you, beauty it does race
Autumn has already advanced in Berlin's Tiergarten. Many leaves have already fallen from the trees, the rest is beautifully colourful. Soon the trees will be bare.

In Olden, Norway, this beautiful wooden church is generally referred to as the New Church. The Old Church sits in the middle of the village down by the edge of the fjord; it's made of stone and much smaller. This church lies about a kilometer up the valley next to the Oldeelva River. Both churches are surrounded by graveyards. Maybe that's why they were forced to build a new church, no more room in the old graveyard.

FLAG WAVERS IN THE SQUARE
The Palio of Ferrara is a competition between the eight districts of Ferrara, made up of the four districts within the medieval walls and the four villages outside. It constitutes the oldest palio in the world and is a historical re-enactment that originates from celebrations of 1259, repeated in 1279 and which became an extraordinary palio in 1471, with the return from Rome of Borso d'Este as soon as he obtained the ducal investiture by Pope Paul II. After centuries the tradition was renewed starting from 1933 and then again in 1967

Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly.

Deep in the night, CP Osman continues to guide and direct trains along Norfolk Southerns Bloomington District. The former Wabash signalization throws up a high green as NS D32, the daily Decatur-Bloomington local, enters the block on its journey northwards. Osmans 20ft tall, three headed home signal, along with the matched two header and dwarf opposite the switch points, were installed here in 1959 when the railroad upgraded the line with CTC. It's one of a mere handful of surviving US&S H5 signals in central Illinois, and its remoteness makes it a prime target to visit at night and try something a little different.
Late on Sunday night, I ventured out to visit Osman with the promise of a northbound train, clear skies, and a moonless night. Though the sheer darkness and emptiness of this rural location was certainly unsettling to say the least, I camped out by the signal for about four hours to take this shot. I've been dreaming of learning how to take a star trail photo of my own, and so when the stars aligned - literally and figuratively - the other night, I made it my mission to learn and do it - and for my very first try, I'm more than happy with the results!
When I left late on Sunday, I returned home early on Monday, with little time to sleep and get ready for work in just a few hours. I didn't get to edit anything until after work, and the whole time I was crossing my fingers and hoping I'd done everything right and it'd work out. I didn't expect to get a better result than what I'd pictured in my head!
This photo is the result of approx. 375 30 second exposures, and with a delay of 2 seconds between shots, it took 3.5 hours to complete. Edited and compiled/stacked using StarStax, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
First winter photo session this season. I will record a video tutorial using this photo. I think it's interesting because it wasn't wintery at all. No snow at all. I will post in on my website and on my YT channel
We were out in the Anza Borrego Desert today with friends and I photographed this back lit Desert Palm leaf at the Park Headquarters. It had things behind the leaf that aren't ideal but I love the glowing colors.
Other desert pictures that I've posted on Flickr can be seen in my Desert album.

The tenement house at 37 Piotrkowska Street in Łódź.
The property at 37 Piotrkowska Street belonged in 1887 to I.L. Kona. At that time, there was a one-story front building with an adjoining one-story outbuilding, and from the southern border there was a three-story outbuilding.
In 1894, Dawid Szmulewicz became the owner of the plot.
At the request of Szmulewicz, in 1903, the successful architect Gustaw Landau-Gutenteger developed a design for a new tenement house, with a facade in the then fashionable Art Nouveau style, with outbuildings. The project was implemented in 1904. The frontage of the tenement house is truly magnificent and monumental.
However, I looked into the yard to see the effects of renovations carried out a few years ago.
I think it was worth a look.

The robins have been so active here lately. I watched this one fly in and out of the yard the other day collecting various insects for its babies.
And since this "Baby's" in black (and white) I chose this song for Sight and Sound:
The Beatles from their album "Beatles for Sale" (1964) U.K. or if you were in North America like I was you will remember it fondly from "Beatles '65."

My island in the sun ..
Island in the Sun, Harry Belafonte
This is my island in the sun
Where my people have toiled since time begun
I may sail on many a sea
Her shores will always be home to me
Oh, island in the sun
Willed to me by my father's hand
All my days I will sing in praise
Of your forest, waters,
Your shining sand
As morning breaks
The heaven on high
I lift my heavy load to the sky
Sun comes down with a burning glow
Mingles my sweat with the earth below
Oh, island in the sun
Willed to me by my father's hand
All my days I will sing in praise
Of your forest, waters,
Your shining sand
This wee lamb was having a leisurely stroll through the morning dew, in early morning sunshine. Her mother was nearby, munching on the wet, juicy grass.
I was driving down my track, on my way to work, this morning, and I thought this scene was quite lovely.

Nestled in the quiet Frogner neighbourhood, the Vigeland Sculpture park is home to Gustav Vigeland’s unique creations and the world’s largest sculpture park by the same artist.
The sculptures symbolize every aspect of human life.
All 212 statues depict human beings of different ages, sexes and sizes, stuck in different and sometimes perplexing poses. Vigeland wanted his statues to capture all the aspects of a person’s life, both in a literal and in a metaphorical sense. And he made them all naked, so that they remain timeless.
Vigeland Park is, in itself, an open-air museum. But there’s also an actual museum, located just outside the park in the space where Gustav Vigeland used to live and work, which most people either neglect to visit or are not even aware it’s there in the first place. (But it is definitely, positively worth a visit !!)

The Monolith stands at the highest point in Vigeland Park, and measures 17 meters above ground. The sculpture is carved out of one stone block, hence the name. The stone was originally shot out of the quarry in Iddefjord, Norway, and transported to the park during the late 1920s.
The sculpture depicts 121 human figures clinging and floating together. There's women and men of different ages, and the top of the Monolith is crowned with children. The sculpture has been interpreted as a kind of vision of resurrection, and our longing and striving for spirituality.

When I was younger, I used to get out a little more regularly, when I had a day off, or when there was a special ride or event planned. At that time I mainly photographed with colour slide rolls, which I am now scanning and editing (lightening, removing dirt, sharpening) to make them acceptable again.

This is the view we had one morning from Zabriske Point in Death Valley National Park. The clouds turned a wonderful pink as the sun rose behind us. That's Telescope Peak in the background, the highest point in the park at 11,049'. Between Golden Canyon in the foreground and the Panamint Mountains in the background lies Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere at -282'. We were blessed with such nice skies on our trip there last March. Single RAW exposure with 3 stop soft Grad ND. Level adjustments in Photoshop CS3.
