Mother Earth's children; the frolics of the fruits and vegetables, 1914

The Carrot ladies love to go

To church on Sunday's in a row;

And, tall or short, each lady fair

Wears a green feather in her hair.

These cottages are in Park Terrace, just off Nottingham Road in Southwell, Nottinghamshire.

They are all modernised and appear Victorian originally from their construction but I have been unable to find any information at all on their history. They derive their name from the park which is at the end of the row.

This shot gets me back to being up to date with my 366, so that's good!!

Something about manipulating your image with textures is pretty cool, in my opinion! This Theme has allowed me to try something different and it's fun!!

To get this texture I had to download this to my iPhone then add the textures via an App called DistressedFX and then upload back to my MacBook!! Loads of different textures within this App. Looks like by downloading and uploading and then uploading to Flickr I lose my EXIF detail?!

Macro Mondays ~ Rainbow

One of my dollar store purchases for this weeks theme were colorful pencil grips.

The color and texture really drew me in, but I wanted them to look more mysterious or alien

and once I got the angle of my flashlight just right and toyed with the dof, my camera and I were in sync for the moment.

HMM to All!

Tythos Reeds (25)

Tythos is a care free Autum Fleece Satyr of the Eikos tribe. his hair and fur is as red as fallen leaves, his horns are shorter than most of his peers, but hurt just as much if you inure the wrath of his ram attack. having placed second yet again in an archery competition, his rival the night fleece Io Sharp-eyes take first as usual, Tythos left the revelry early to get some target practice in, wanting to improve his skills in preparation for the next contest.

having found a large group of trees growing all in a row with shiny red apples hanging from them, Tythos saw this as the perfect place to practice his aim, with much glee arrows started flying, most hitting the small targets without issue. then the young Satyr heard what sounded like excited yelling, a new friend approached waving a hand held target aloft, seeing a new friend wanted to help him practice, he took his shot, hitting the small metal target with ease, the new friend so excited to see Tythos' skills up close let out a gleeful yell and started yelling for his friend "go-ards," ..."humans have funny names." though the young Satyr.

The new friend's other friend showed up, with a bunch more friends all wearing the same outfit, they seemed to want to play tag, as they began chasing Tythos, for nearly thirty minutes using his superior speed and athletic abilities Tythos evaded his new friend's attempts to catch him. until one of them tossed a net and tripped up the young archer's hoofed legs. wrapped up in a net and surrounded by new friends Tythos laughed gleefully and admitted defeat. "okay, looks like i'm it, now i chase you right?" he asked, the human's merely glared at him.

After several hours tied up in a wagon Tythos started to wonder if maybe the rules for tag are different for human's than they are back home. the wagons continued for several more hours until finally stopping at a large stone building, the largest building he'd ever seen in his life, it is there he spent the next several weeks in a small cell with stone walls and a metal door. but lucky for him there were enough dirt filled cracks in the stone for him to grow some pretty flowers using his limited druidic magic.

after a few weeks locked in the cell he was finally let out and called into another larger stone room with five others, also of various beast races. there was an old guy who said some stuff, Tythos wasn't paying much attention to all that, but finally he was given him bow and wine-skin back, he was told to follow the other animal people, thus the party animals were formed. they walked into the woods, fought some weird giant spider things, found a weird hill and starting digging, until the found a door. they explored the dark stone ruin and hit some corpses that stood up to fight them, until they stopped trying to fight them. then they all seemed to get real tired and wanted to sleep, so they left to sleep outside.

After a not so restful night sleep where everyone seemed to act funny and have bad dreams, they all went back in, there was a brain in a jar that was talking to them, the lizard man ate it. then they found an alter to a giant eyeball monster, the owl man broke it. then they found weird mirrors. they touched them and were sucked into a large dark cavern. where they saw a giant eyeball with tentacles that had more eyeballs attached! the tentacle eyes kept looking at the group and they would seem to be in pain, but nothing ever happened to Tythos then the eyes looked at him, weird, maybe it was a game he didn't know? they all broke the eye balls tentacles, and then the big eye ball which turned into an egg, Tythos shot the egg and sent it away for a few second while they all ran back into the mirrors.

the tentacle eyes dropped weird glowing rocks when they were smashed, after looking at them real hard, the magical bunny man figured out what they are and what they do, the group decided Tythos should have two of them! im sure that will turn out to be a good idea later... so they all headed back to the town the stone building with the metal doors was in, the science bunny man yelled at someone for not knowing who he is, then they all went back to the room they met in and a weird guy that was there with the old guy before gave them all bags of shiny discs, Tythos is told people will give him things for these. this is when the lizard man left, and a human lady joined, she was pretty and had a big sword, but wasn't very nice. they are also offered better armor, Tythos takes some leather and more arrows, also a lantern he can attach to his belt, because Goats cant see in the dark.

Leaving the armory they find a secret tavern, Tythos has heard of these, but never found one before, some very friendly colorful women with horns and tail offered the group food and drink, then took them to a room where they can all get naked and take a back together. there was also something about a magic "truth or dare zone" in the room, but Tythos didn't really understand what that meant, but everyone was very open and honest as they talked.

Having finished their bath they all get ready to head to the rat lady's home in the sewers!.... wait, should they have done this in the other order? oh well. who knows what will happen from here?

The first one I have ever seen. Luckily it wasn't one without wing. And this is Munich, not London. So there won't be three in a row. Just one. ;-)

I love this picture! We rescued the Mama Kitty (now Gracie) and sent these 5 cuties to a rescue in Summer 2006...The 4 long-haired babies were adopted out. The kitten at the very top left had short hair and he was left in the cage at PetSmart. After his littermates left, he SCREAMED nonstop if he wasn't held. The rescue volunteers called and told me - I, crying and all, promptly drove there to rescue him! The rest, as they say, is history...He is now my Sammy!

Pennsy Position Light Farewell Tour - Part 5

This is not a new signal location, this is a repeat of the signals seen in this post:

So, after getting our fill of Johnstown and doing a little exploring some new areas John decided it was time to relocate back to Summerhill and the famed Automatic 263.7 signals for another round. The Pittsburgh Line didn't dissapoint as we shot 6 trains in the span of 45 minutes back here!

Nice variety too in both motive power and train types. Alas I don't know the symbols of any of these (if you care about that sort of thing), but here are six shots, one of each train shot in the 45 min span!

Man, the old PRR mainline sure is one hopping railroad!

Train #5 was a little varnish in the form of Amtrak's westbound Pennsylvanian train #43 on Track 3.

ODC2 ~ In a Row

Macro Monday group~ Contraptions

I have a busy schedule of meetings today so I took this shot of the keys of an old antique Burroughs calculator that sits on my credenza. It belonged to my grandfather and he used it in his cotton gin in the 40's or 50's. I keep it as a fond memory of my past.

After a week of bright colors I needed a black and white to calm me down. I think I'm crashing from yesterday's sugar high.

This is the front of my long border underneath laurels. It is only sunny until midday, petunias have done well there in previous years.

A Hand Knitted Things Design

These are my best shots from the previous two nights. I brought my my 10" dobson scope with me to Hungary for imaging and testing purposes. The shot on the left was taken with the 2.5x powermate, this is the setup I use lately (3000mm of focal length). But I have a TeleVue 4x powermate with me for testing purposes 4800mm of focal length) and yesterday finally I did a massive step closer to nail a decent shot despite the cloud cover, only allowed a small area of clear sky - but it's testing time so I went for it anyway.

The shot on the right was taken with the 4x powermate. Took me three failure to figure out the correct camera settings and quite good focus. But this is only the first success and I'm looking forward for some improvement before leaving Hungary.

Equipment details on the photo. Also I marked the individual spacecrafts docked to the station.

The charms mostly represent trips and birthdays of my childhood, all in a row.

While visiting Death Valley National Park we stayed in Beatty, Nevada. Rhyolite is right in the middle so we hit it two evenings in a row, near sunset. Once the sun went behind the mountains it got cold in a hurry - as in freezing cold. There is a fascinating open air museum there - worth some time but there wasn't a lot of detail what you were looking at. We visited here in mid-January 2023.

Good news. I have been shortlisted for the third year in a row for the LPOTY 2013 competition. I wont hold my breath for the book but I'm seriously chuffed with the recognition just to get to this stage.

This was taken during cloudy conditions somewhere in East Anglia. I wish I knew where this shed is, because it has a certain charm to it and I'd love to return. I came across it during a drive and never logged it in my mind as to its location. Soon after taking this photo, I dropped my circular polarising filter, which fell to bits on the ground. After carrying the pieces in my bag for weeks, today I decided to give it a go at putting it back together (the glass hadn't smashed). A small miracle - it seems to have worked! I just hope I've put the glass in the right way round?!
