On November 17, 2024, the Lighthouse will light up in purple for the 4th year in a row. We do this as a symbol of support for the many children born prematurely, their families and not least the fantastic staff at the hospitals, who fight to give the children a good start in life..

Our Daily Challenge 26 August -3 September : In a Row

These tiny animals are probably ivory and come from a time when folk were unaware or oblivious to the suffering caused by the trade. They date from a time when my grandmother's brother worked as a civil engineer in Ceylon.

November 23: All in a Row

For Macro Mondays theme while in keeping with my autumnal one.

Been really tired & busy with work lately therefore as usual, apoloigies are in order for not visiting much :) OK..never have I posted 3 vertorama shots in a row so u guess it... I'm totally verto-out for now.. definitely need a rest for sure :) On the other hand, it is pretty hard to show & justify the beauty of NZ through just a single image. Really, NZ is an island where every surrounding plays a great part in making the place look so beautiful. Enjoy & have a great weekend ahead!

Every now and then, we all need to take a little time to get our ducks in a row...

Thanks for your appreciation, Gail

This sort of reminds me of film strips in a row.

Macro Mondays - In a row

Yes, it's the "Famous Five" again! Took myself off for a short drive along the backroads SW of the city yesterday afternoon (20 April 2014), partly because the sun was actually shining, but also hoping to give my painful arms and shoulder a bit of a rest. Not sure that it helped, though, as I had to keep starting and turning off the car, which may have been worse, or just as bad as, mouse clicking, ha. One of the times I stopped was to take a few photos of this well-known row of five old granaries. Always a shame that the (now covered) beehives are not out of sight, but ..... Hmm, trying to think if the For Sale sign for the farm was still there or not. Hopefully, new owners will leave this beautiful row standing.

I didn't see a lot of wildlife on my drive, though I did see and hear my first Red-winged Blackbird of the year. Also a few Coots and Northern Shovellers, a Musk Rat, and the Crow in the next photo posted today.

A few minutes ago, I discovered how to open two separate screens in My Pictures, simply by holding down the shift key before clicking on My Pictures a second time. That discovery should save a lot of unnecessary mouse clicking (not to mention time), which is greatly to blame for my excruciating arm and shoulder pain.

The photograph is not the highest quality but here they all are--it's amazingly tough to get four kittens to hold still even for a split second!

I cheated a little. The zebra at the left end was not quite drinking the water, and also, there were three other zebras behind that I deleted with the Photoshop intelligent fill. Click below to see the image as shot.

At any rate, this is the max number of zebras that I found in a row.

Fair Isle knitting

The knitting worsted yarn is "Orlon" acrylic that has been around a while, not wool (that's why the fibers are so uniform).

I don't exactly have all my ducks in a row, but I'm close. ;-)

Our new door is crying :)
