Shining Light on Secret TPP agreement & calling on Congress to
STOP Fast Track
For Immediate Release: Day before Wikileak of TPP Document - 13 Cities
Mobilized to Shine a Light on Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership "Trade"
Deal Telling Congress "Don't Fast Track a Train Wreck - FLUSH the
TPP!"

SEATTLE - On Tuesday evening citizens in Seattle and 12
other cities appeared on overpasses and roadsides to pull the
Trans-Pacific Partnership, aka TPP, out of the shadows and into the
light of public scrutiny. From Dallas to DC, San Diego to Seattle,
Tucson to Detroit, Baltimore to Bellingham, Spokane to Chicago
people took their messages to interstate overpasses, prominent
monuments, and busy city streets using coordinated daytime and
nighttime, high visibility tactics.
They deployed giant banners saying No New NAFTA, mobilized LED light
panels saying "(thumbs up) Democracy, STOP The TPP," and projected with
spotlights messages like "Don't Fast Track A Train Wreck." These
coordinated citizen's actions coincided with ongoing TPP negotiations
taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah from November 12-24
and today's anticipated release by Congressperson Rosa DeLauro and
George Miller detailing the growing opposition to "Fast Track" among
Congress, and preceded today's surprise release by Wikileaks of a leaked
chapter of the secretive "TPP" agreement. [Here
is Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch initial interpretations of the
chapter on intellectual property.]
The TPP has been called NAFTA on steroids, a "Corporate Coup," and
concerned citizens from across the nation are calling on Congress to
"Flush It!" and to oppose President Obama's request to renew "Fast
Track" authority to commit our country to this secretive agreement that
has less to do with trade, than it does with dismantling any domestic
policies that undermine future profits for transnational capital and
corporations.
Bill Moyer, Executive Director of the Backbone Campaign stated "Only a
bought a sold government would sign a treaty that sacrifices our
capacity as communities and country to pass laws for workers benefit,
and the protection of our communities and our natural resources."
The Trans-Pacific Partnership has been negotiated under secrecy for 3
years. Obama is now pushing to have it swiftly approved to much to the
dismay of members of Congress, most of whom haven't even been allowed to
see the text. While Congress is constitutionally required to negotiate
any international treaties, Fast Track or granting Obama Trade Promotion
Authority would forfeit the Congress' responsibility and the public's
right to weigh in on the TPP negotiations.
Perhaps in response to growing citizen outrage letters were release
today from both Democrats and Republicans challenging President Obama's
request for renewal of Fast Track authority. [From Today's Public
Citizen announcement: The
151-signature DeLauro-Miller letter, additional
letter from Democratic Ways & Means members, One
of two letters, this led by Representative Walter Jones (R-NC)]
One of the illuminated messages on Tuesday read "Corporate Tribunals
WTF?" This referred to how the TPP would give more power to corporate
interests including the ability for foreign companies to sue for
taxpayer compensation if any domestic law diminished the company's expected future profits.
Masked as a trade deal, the agreement has been negotiated under
supervision of 600 unelected corporate "trade advisors" while the text
has been hidden from members of Congress, the press, and the public.
What has been learned about the TPP has come through leaked texts, and
is alarming to members of Congress worried about sovereign powers being
negotiated away, public health officials, labor representatives,
environmental groups, and advocates of consumer issues.
"The TPP, the largest ever of it's kind, is a race to the bottom
international agreement on domestic and international policies of food
safety, internet freedom, medicine costs, financial regulation, and the
environment," says Kristen Beifus, executive director of Washington Fair
Trade Coalition."
Trade Justice organizations have declared December 3rd a "Global Day of
Action Against the TPP to resist toxic trade agreements." Citizens are
urged to take action in their own community, contact their
congressperson, and learn more about the TPP's dismantling of democracy
by visiting VoteNoFastTrack.org.
Citizens can find out where their congressperson stands and tweet them
Tuesday's coordinated actions were organized by the Backbone Campaign,
which specializes in "amplifying citizen engagement with creative
tactics and artful activism" in collaboration with Public Citizen's
Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, and more.
The coordinated day of action follows on the heals of an action in
September when to the surprise of secret service, members and allies of
PopularResistance.org and the Backbone Campaign "redecorated"
the United States Trade Representatives office by scaling the building
and unfurling giant banners demanding a release of the TPP text. The
Backbone Campaign is grateful to Wikileaks for beginning that process.

History of the Vienna State Opera
132 years house on the Ring
(you can see pictures by clicking on the link at the end of page!)
State Opera (K.K. Court Opera) 1901
About three and a half centuries, until the early Baroque period, the tradition of Viennese opera goes back. Emperor Franz Joseph I decreed in December 1857 to tear down the old city walls and fortifications around the city center of Vienna and to lay out a wide boulevard with new buildings for culture and politics, the ring road.
The two Court Theatres (a speech and a musical theater) should find a new place on the ring. For the Imperial and Royal Court Opera House was chosen a prominent place in the immediate area of the former Kärntnertortheatre. This by the public that much loved opera theater was demolished in 1709 due to its confinement .
State Opera (K.K. Court Opera) 1903
The new opera house was built by the Viennese architect August Sicardsburg, who designed the basic plan, and Eduard van der Null, who designed the interior decoration. But other eminent artists had been involved: just think of Moritz von Schwind, who painted the frescoes in the foyer and the famous "Magic Flute", cycle of frescoes in the loggia. The two architects did not experience the opening of "their" opera house any more. The sensitive van der Null committed suicide since the Wiener (Viennes people) denigrated the new house as lacking in style, his friend Sicardsburg succumbed a little later to a stroke.
1869 - 1955
On 25 May 1869 the House was with Mozart's DON JUAN in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph, the highest building owner, and Empress Elisabeth opened.
However, with the artistic charisma under the first directors Franz von Dingelstedt, Johann Herbeck, Franz Jauner and Wilhelm Jahn grew the popularity of the building. A first highlight experienced the Vienna Opera under the director Gustav Mahler, renewing the outdated performance system from scratch, strengthening precision and ensemble spirit and also using significant visual artists (including Alfred Roller) for the shaping of the new stage aesthetic.
In the ten-year-period of his Directorate (1897-1907) continued Gustav Mahler, this very day, in the concert halls of the world as the most important member of a Symphony Orchestra at the turn of the 20th century omnipresent, the intensive fostering of Wagner, Mozart's operas and Beethoven's Fidelio were redesigned, the with Richard Strauss initiated connection to Verdi was held upright. Austrian composers were promoted (Hugo Wolf), the Court Opera was opened to European modernism.

In addition to the classics of the Italian repertoire were and are especially Mozart, Wagner and Richard Strauss (himself 1919-1924 director of the House), the musical protection gods of the Vienna State Opera.

The modern also always had its place: the twenties and thirties witnessed the Vienna premieres of Krenek's Jonny spielt auf, Cardillac Hindemith, Korngold MIRACLE OF Héliane and Berg's Wozzeck (under President Clemens Krauss). This tradition was interrupted with the seizure of power by the National Socialists, yes, after the devastating bomb hits, on 12 March 1945 the house on the ring largely devastating, the care of the art form itself was doubtful.
The Viennese, who had preserved a lively cultural life during the war, were deeply shocked to see the symbol of the Austrian musical life in ruins.
But the spirit of the opera was not destroyed. On 1 May 1945 "State Opera Volksoper" was opened with a brilliant performance of Mozart's THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, on 6 October 1945 was followed by the re-opening of the hastily restored Theater an der Wien with Beethoven's Fidelio. Thus there were two venues for the next ten years, while the actual main building was rebuilt at great expense.

As early as 24 May 1945 the State Secretary of Public Works, Julius Raab, had announced the reconstruction of the Vienna State Opera, which should be placed in the hands of the Austrian architects Erich Boltenstern and Otto Prossinger. Only the main façade, the grand staircase and the Schwindfoyer (evanescence foyer) had been spared from the bombs - with a new auditorium and modernized technology, the Vienna State Opera was brilliant with Beethoven's Fidelio under Karl Böhm on 5 November 1955 reopened. The opening ceremonies were broadcasted from Austrian television and in the whole world at the same time as a sign of life of the resurrected 2nd Republic understood.

1955 to 1992
The dictum that the Vienna State Opera survives every director, is attributed to Egon Seefehlner which himself for many years run the businessses of the house. And yet marked he and the thirty-one other directors of the Vienna State Opera since 1869, great musicians or musical administrators, in their own way the profile of this world-famous institution:

After the Second World War there were first the conductors directors Karl Böhm and Herbert von Karajan - the latter insisted on the title "Artistic Director" and opened the Ensemble house to the international singer market, had the opera rehearsed in original language and oriented his plans to "co-productions" with foreign opera houses, however, which were only realized after his term.
It followed as directors Egon Hilbert, Heinrich Reif-Gintl, Rudolf Gamsjäger and the mentioned Egon Seefehlner, who was appointed for a second time at the top of the house after the departure of his successor in office Lorin Maazel. Claus Helmut Drese (State Opera director from 1986 to 1991) stood with Claudio Abbado an internationally renowned music director by his side. At the beginning of the 90s the forrmer star baritone Eberhard Waechter, at that time director of the Volksoper (People's Opera), charged with the direction. Only seven months have been granted to him as a director.
The era Ioan Holender (1992 to 2010)
After Waechter's tragic death in March 1992 took over general secretary Ioan Holender, a former singer (baritone) and owner of a singer Agency, the office to continue the tradition of perhaps the most important opera institution in the world over the millennium to 2010.
His play plan design relies besides an extremely wide repertoire with the columns Mozart, Wagner, Verdi and Strauss mainly on premieres. Mention may be made of Bellini's I Puritani (1993 /94), Massenet Hérodiade (1994 /95), Verdi's Jerusalem and Britten's PETER GRIMES (1995 /96), Verdi's Stiffelio and Enescu OEDIPE (1996 /97), Rossini's GUILLAUME TELL and Lehár's operetta THE MERRY WIDOW (1998/99) and Schoenberg's THE JAKOBSLEITER, Hiller's PETER PAN, Donizetti's ROBERTO DEVEREUX, Britten's Billy Budd, Verdi's Nabucco (2000/ 01), Bellini's LA SONNAMBULA, Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, Janácek's Jenufa (2001/02), Verdi's SIMON BOCCANEGRA, Krenek's Jonny spielt auf, Donizetti's La Favorite, Hiller's PINOCCHIO, Wagner's TRISTAN UND ISOLDE (2002/ 03), Verdi's FALSTAFF, Wagner's FLYING DUTCHMAN and PARSIFAL, Strauss's Daphne (2003/ 04) and the world premiere of the original French version of Verdi's DON CARLOS (2003/ 04). A particular success of the recent past, the rediscovery of Fromental Halévy's La Juive Grand (1999 ) must be considered. Two premières concerned 1995 Adriana Hölszky's THE WALLS (co-production with the Vienna Festival at the Theater an der Wien ) and Alfred Schnittke's Gesualdo. On 15 June 2002 also THE GIANT OF STONE FIELD (Music: Peter Turrini: Friedrich Cerha libretto) premiered with great success, another commissioned work of the Vienna State Opera.

In recent years it came up, in each case on 18 May, the anniversary of the death of Gustav Mahler, to concerts of the Vienna Philharmonic at the Vienna State Opera. These were under the direction of Seiji Ozawa (who since the 2002 /03 season the Vienna State Opera director Holender as music director of the house stands to the side) (1995), Carlo Maria Giulini (1996), Riccardo Muti (1997), Lorin Maazel (1998), Zubin Mehta (1999), Giuseppe Sinopoli (2000 ), Riccardo Muti (2001) and again Seiji Ozawa (2004).
Furthermore, was on 16 June, 2002 for the first time by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Seiji Ozawa) a CONCERT FOR AUSTRIA organized. More CONCERTS FOR AUSTRIA followed on 26 October 2003 (Zubin Mehta) and 26 October 2004 (under Valery Gergiev).
At the Theater an der Wien Mozart's Così fan tutte experienced a triumphant new production conducted by Riccardo Muti. This Mozart cycle under Muti continued with DON GIOVANNI and 2001 LE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, 1999.

My immediate thought when I saw this theme was of my husband, what with him being super awesome and all, but he's not terribly keen on being front of a camera. Instead I re-read the theme description and had a good think about why I got into photography. For me, it's about being able to record unique and interesting moments in my life. So this fits my perspective - a male red deer with some spectacular antlers. I've never been so close to deer and I certainly had to be brave to get so close!
Physical
Physical self defense is the use of physical force to counter an immediate threat of violence. Such force can be either armed or unarmed. In either case, the chances of success depend on a large number of parameters, related to the severity of the threat on one hand, but also on the mental and physical preparedness of the defender.
[edit]Unarmed
Many styles of martial arts are practiced for self-defense or include self-defense techniques. Some styles train primarily for self-defense, while other martial/Combat sports can be effectively applied for self-defense.[citation needed] To provide more practical self-defense, many modern day martial arts schools now use a combination of martial arts styles and techniques, and will often customize self-defense training to suit the participants' lifestyles, occupations, age groups and gender, and physical and mental capabilities.
[edit]Armed
Further information: Non-lethal weapon and knife fight
In some countries, it is legal to use or carry weapons (for example knives, firearms or batons) for purposes of self-defense. In other countries, this may be illegal or may require a license, or some items may be legal to carry without a license, while others, most commonly firearms, are not. Limitations on the use of weapons for personal defense are a source of controversy in some countries, pitting self-defense rights against efforts to combat violent crime via restricting access to common weapons.[citation needed]
Everyday objects, such as baseball bats or aerosol spray cans, can also be used as improvised weapons for self-defense, but are not likely to be as effective as purpose built weapons. Some non-lethal weapons as the Kubotan have also been built to resemble everyday objects, such as keychains.[3]
Pepper spray and personal stun guns are non-lethal self defense alternatives, which are legal in some countries. Pepper sprays can have a range between 5–20 feet, and act by delivering a spray or foam containing highly irritating chemicals. Handheld stun guns operate by delivering an incapacitating electric shock, and must actually come in contact with the assailant to be effective, with the exception of tasers which use gas-propelled barbs connected to the taser by conductive wire to deliver the shock.
[edit]Other forms
[edit]De-escalation
Verbal Self Defense aka 'Verbal Judo'[4] is defined as using one's words to prevent, de-escalate, or end an attempted assault.[5] It is a way of using words as weapons. This kind of 'conflict management' is the use of voice, tone, and body language to calm a potentially violent situation before violence actually ensues. This often involves techniques such as taking a time-out, and deflecting the conversation to individuals in the group who are less passionately involved.
Author Katy Mattingly defines verbal self-defense as simply saying no to someone or repeatedly refusing a request or telling someone who has violated a boundary what you want, or it could entail a more complicated scenario in which you are called on to refuse to engage verbally with someone manipulative, to set limits, and end the conversation.[5]
Suzette Haden Elgin the author of The Gentle Art of Verbal Self-Defense states that verbal self-defense defends against the eight most common types of verbal violence, and redirects and defuses potential verbal confrontations.[6]
[edit]Avoidance
Being aware of and avoiding potentially dangerous situations is an emphasis of self defense. Attackers are typically larger, stronger, and are often armed or have an accomplice. These factors make fighting to defeat the attacker unlikely to succeed. In order to attack, an aggressor must have three elements in place: desire, distance, and decision. If any one of these elements can be removed, an attack can be avoided without resorting to physical self defense.[7] When avoidance is impossible, one often has a better chance at fighting to escape, such methods maybe referred to as 'break away' techniques.[8]
[edit]Personal alarms
Personal alarms are a way to practice passive self defense. A personal alarm is a small, hand-held device that emits strong, loud, high pitched sounds to deter attackers because the noise will draw the attention of passersby. Child alarms often function as locators or device alarms such as triggering an alert when a swimming pool is in use to help prevent dangerous situations in addition to being a deterrent against would-be aggressors.[9][unreliable source?]
[edit]Self-defense education
Self-defense techniques and recommended behavior under the threat of violence is systematically taught in self-defense classes. Commercial self-defense education is part of the martial arts industry in the wider sense, and many martial arts instructors also give self-defense classes. While all martial arts training can be argued to have some self-defense applications, self-defense courses are marketed explicitly as being oriented towards effectiveness and optimized towards situations as they occur in the real world. It should not be presumed however that sport based systems are inadequate, as the training methods employed regularly produce well conditioned fighters experienced in full contact fighting. There are a large number of systems taught commercially, many tailored to the needs of specific target audiences (e.g. defense against attempted rape for women). Notable systems taught commercially include:
civilian versions modern military combatives, such as kapap Krav Maga and Systema
self-defense oriented forms of jujitsu, such as Bartitsu, Goshin Jujitsu, Ketsugo jujutsu, Kodokan Goshin Jutsu, Yawara-Jitsu, etc.
rape prevention, including Rape Aggression Defense System (RAD),[10] AWARE,[11] etc.
Reality-Based Self-Defense (RBSD)[12]
Sport based systems, such as Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, BJJ, and Wrestling.
[edit]Legal aspects
Main article: Rights of self-defense
Further information: Justifiable homicide, Self-defense (United States), Self-defence in English law, Self-defence (Australia), and Self-defense (Sweden)
The most crucial difference between self-defense training for civilian application in a society under rule of law to military combatives is the necessity to consider the extent of force permitted in a given situation under the self-defense laws of the applicable jurisdiction.
The self-defense laws of modern legislation build on the Roman Law principle of dominium where any attack on the members of the family or the property it owned was a personal attack on the pater familias.[13] In Leviathan (1651), Hobbes argues that although some may be stronger or more intelligent than others in their natural state, none are so strong as to be beyond a fear of violent death, which justifies self-defense as the highest necessity. In his 1918 speech Politik als Beruf (Politics as a Vocation), Max Weber defined a state as an authority having the monopoly of the legitimate means of organised violence within defined territorial boundaries. Modern libertarianism characterizes the majority of laws as intrusive to personal autonomy and, in particular, argues that the right of self-defense from coercion (including violence) is a fundamental human right. In this context, note that Article 12 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
Combined with the principle of the state's monopoly of violence, this means that those authorized by the state to defend the law (in practice, the police) are charged with the use of necessary force to protect such rights. The right to self-defense is limited to situations where the immediate threat of violence cannot be prevented by those authorized to do so (in practice, because no police force is present at the moment of the threat). The right to self-defense granted by law to the private citizen is strictly limited. Use of force that goes beyond what is necessary to dispel the immediate threat of violence is known as excessive self-defense (also self-defense with excessive force, excessive self-defense). The civil law systems have a theory of "abuse of right" to explain denial of justification in such cases. Thus, in English law, the general common law principle is stated in Beckford v R (1988) 1 AC 130:
"A defendant is entitled to use reasonable force to protect himself, others for whom he is responsible and his property. It must be reasonable."
Similar clauses are found in the legislation throughout the western world. They derive historically from article 6 of the French Penal Code of 1791, which ruled that "manslaughter is legitimate if it is indispensably dictated by the present necessity of legitimate defense of oneself or others".[14] The modern French penal code further specifies that excessive self-defense is punishable due to "disproportion between the means of defense used and the gravity of the attack" defended against.[15]
The evaluation of whether use of force was excessive in a given case can be a difficult task. The British Law Commission Report on Partial Defences to Murder (2004) Part 4 (pp78/86) recommends a redefinition of provocation to cover situations where a person acts lethally out of fear. This reflects the present view of psychiatrists that most people act in violent situations with a combination of fear and anger in their minds, and to separate these two types of affect is not legally constructive. In practice, self-defense laws still do make this distinction. German criminal law (§ 33) distinguishes "asthenic affect" (fear) from "sthenic affect" (anger). Excessive self-defense out of asthenic affect is not punishable. Outside of the western world, justifiable self-defense tends to be interpreted more loosely, including the right to defend against any criminal act, without limitations to reasonable or proportionate use of force based on the magnitude of the crime. Instead, it may simply be the minimum amount of force required to stop the criminal, which may lethal even for relatively small crimes. Thus, the Intermediate People's Court of Foshan, People's Republic of China in a 2009 case ruled as justifiable self-defense the killing of a robber who was trying to escape, because "the robbery was still in progress" at this time.

For Immediate Release: Day before Wikileak of TPP Document - 13
Cities Mobilized to Shine a Light on Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership
"Trade" Deal Telling Congress "Don't Fast Track a Train Wreck - FLUSH
the TPP!"

Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, the Overpass Light
Brigade network, and more.

The ISAI [Buildings without individual or immediate designation) principle was set up in 1944. With the ISAI, entirely pre-financed by the state (applied on future war damages), the French administration initiated for the first time the construction of buildings intended for housing. Resolved on 8 September 1945, the construction of ISAIs in Le Havre was conferred to Auguste Perret in February 1946. In March he appointed his joint architects-in-chief who, from April, proposed numerous preliminary studies. In total fourteen (Parisian) architects worked for the Atelier de Reconstruction of the City of Le Havre, a team designated by Perret for this ensemble consigned by the state as distinct operations. A veritable matrix, this project was fundamental in determining the reconstruction plan for Le Havre centre. The plan objective adopted for the grid, the maximum construction heights and the massing plan were applied to the rest of the city.
Decrees from the Ministry of Reconstruction imposed floor areas for each type of flat. The Minister of Reconstruction and Urbanism had decided that the buildings would be exclusively for housing. But action taken by the Committee of the Street of Paris exerted pressure to create boutiques on the ground floor and to respect a theoretical priority to bombed-out homeowners rather than to construct ISAIs.
The two-hectare terrain (including the road system) is situated on the south side of Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. In studies by José Imbert and André Hermant the front facing the square was composed of monumental rows of tall, continuous buildings and large separate building blocks, reunited by their wall base.
In August 1947, the preliminary ISAI walls emerged from the ground. In June 1948, a new request for a construction permit was filed for four groups of buildings. Block V37, with 90 housing units, was the first to be achieved. Ultimately the density was 900 inhabitants per hectare.
On 27 June 1949, the High Commission on Hygiene within the Ministry of Public Health envisaged stopping the execution of sixteen blocks in the city centre (even though earthworks for the foundations were already underway) after having noticed that the water closets and bathrooms were to be ventilated by individual ducts and not windows.
The execution of the ISAIs was entirely pre-financed by the state, without financial participation or disaster-victim practices, that of the lateral extensions of the ISAIs by a trade union association for reconstruction (the homeowners) under the form of war damages. These extensions were undertaken by the Atelier de Reconstruction and by the architects from Le Havre.
Estimated costs: 600 million French francs.
Traversing the entire reconstructed centre of Le Havre, one recognizes the principle of tall buildings punctuating the urban landscape and breaking the monotony of buildings of constant height. For City Hall square, the necessity to build a regulated and varied framework led to the choice of alternating low volumes and high volumes, established as a function of the orientation and general aesthetic of the site. Above the ground floor at a height of 4.90 metres, the general maximum height restriction adopted for the city permitted a maximum construction of three storeys. However, on account of the significant population to rehouse, and the maximum amount of ventilation and insolation [sunlight] to obtain, the architects introduced some higher buildings. (André Hermant, who launched his research on flat insolation in February 1946, invented an instrument to calculate the level of insolation on a carpet) The ensemble of ISAIs appear as follows: behind a range of three-storey buildings linked by porticos, six ten-storey buildings follow one another at a regular rhythm, parallel and symmetrical to the central axis of Rue de Paris. Only the upper register of the latter appears from City Hall square. The interior of the blocks form largely open courts, sunlit and protected from the winds.
The volumetric articulation of the buildings in the adjoining urban blocks was studied to make the ensemble of the square emerge from the cityscape. Pierre Dalloz describes it as such:
Place de l’Hôtel de Ville [City Hall square] will be one of the most monumental squares in France. The ISAIs bordering it to the south have the quality, calmness and surety of proportions of a classical work. The problem of views behind the ISAIs was closely tied to that of the architectural composition of the commercial basin and Place Gambetta. […] The scheme was definitively approved by the Minister on 3 August 1950. The core of the composition resides in the small square deliberately placed off axis in which the void allows one to discover, from one side of the ISAIs and the other, and under an equally advantageous angle, the future theatre. […] At right angles to the three-storey constructions overlooking Place Gambetta and Rue de Paris, the small square contributes to the ISAIs’ compositional order. With the row of five-storey buildings opposite, it ties on to the extremity of a sort of Greek typology, fully developed around the theatre, Place Gambetta and the basin. The two ensembles (Place de l’Hôtel de Ville and Gambetta) contrast and coordinate around the square, in a harmonious, picturesque complementarity, with their dissimilar shapes.
The various architects convened for this major construction site accomplished a collective work through expressing the scheme elaborated by the Atelier de Reconstruction, one advocating the strict application of a technical and architectural language defined by Auguste Perret. The lines of the skeleton framework acquired a new importance in the definition of the sequencing. They were the focus of a calculated and refined compositional study and converged to characterize an urban space regulated by a classical type of perspective order. The exposed framework of these buildings is made of concrete enlivened by a bush-hammer finish. The porticos, also constructed along a uniform grid of squares, are filled with a secondary skeleton of bay frames, rising from floor to ceiling according to a unique typology. For the reinforced concrete sections left exposed, the panelling was executed exclusively in trimmed, highly finished wood. Between the columns and the bay frames, the interfenestrations are made up of prefabricated slabs in natural coloured agglomerate concrete blocks whose dimension varies (but never exceeds 70 centimetres) to compose a motif. The low buildings are composed of balconies on the first and last storeys, while the tall buildings are wrapped by balconies on the fourth and seventh. Bulging reinforced-concrete columns scan across the ground floor. Exposed interior cladding is bush-hammered and tooled with chiselled arris.
The capping of the buildings is treated as a terrace because, to quote Perret himself, ‘a terrace protects against the rain as well as a roof does ’ and ‘a terminating storey is less expensive than a roof ’ .
Concerning the flats, reduction of the built surface for the same foyer is compensated by more efficient utilisation of space. The living room or 'vivoir' sometimes contains a fireplace and an eating nook separated from the kitchen by a single folding partition screen. The bedrooms are narrow. The passageway is provided with a boxroom. Particular attention was paid to the fitting out and rational organisation of different energy supplies. The flats were delivered without interior painting but with all sanitary fittings. The kitchen, also called the ‘grill-room ’ , is a model (named ‘cuisines Cépac ’ or Cépac kitchens) developed as a series and installed within numerous state buildings. The elements, prefabricated and assembled, are in steel sheet covered with an oven-baked, sound-proof paint. It is also equipped with a counter-fitted double-basin sink in sandstone porcelain and a rubbish chute.
Elevators are provided for the tower blocks. Garages (accessed by a ramp), laundry rooms and cellars for each flat are located underground, and at ground level, a garage for children's bicycles and prams (close to each staircase), the boiler room, two service premises and a porter's lodge.
The boutiques were delivered unfitted, with ample floor-to-ceiling height so as to allow for construction of a mezzanine.

My name is Lori Zarlenga- Blaquiere. I was born on September 14, 1961 in the state of Rhode Island. I am writing to you for your immediate help. My life is in immediate danger from orders issued by President George W. Bush and Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri to
assassinate/murder me. You can contact me at my email LoriZarlenga@gmail.com and
my space.com/lorizz Also, you can find me on “google” by entering my name as keyword. My case is legitimate. Please do not disregard my case.
I have evidence and tapes on top officials and law enforcement among others to support my
claims. The current Rhode Island Senators Sheldon Whitehouse , Senator Jack Reed and former Senator Lincoln Chafee, among others are covering up and will not help me.
I posted a diary on the Daily Kos website on August 12, 2007 with regard to my life being in immediate danger from orders issued by President George W. Bush and Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri to assassinate/murder me.
I continued to stay on the Daily Kos website until sometime after 5:00 am and received
comments from the Daily Kos members community. The Daily Kos has over 1 million
members on their website.
On August 12, 2007, I was uploading exhibits, photos, and evidence to the Daily Kos members that support my claims against the United States Government et al.
On August 12, 2007 at approximately between 5:00 am & 6:00 am a West Warwick
Police officer came out to my house at 101 Border Street West Warwick, R.I. and violently banged at the doors at my house and continued to violently bang at the doors of my house for a long period of time in a terrorizing manner. The West Warwick Police Officer was given orders to stop me from getting the truth out to the American public .
I Lori Ann Zarlenga state that on August 21, 2007, a West Warwick Police vehicle came
up behind the vehicle where I was located in the back seat with my 5 year
old granddaughter and my mother Victoria Zarlenga who was seated on the passenger
side and my son Michael Zarlenga who was driving the vehicle on Cowesett Avenue
West Warwick, R.I.
I Lori Ann Zarlenga state that the police officers proceeded to get out of their police
vehicles with their guns drawn and aimed at the vehicle where I was located in the back
seat of the vehicle along with my 5 year old granddaughter, my mother and son .
The Coventry police, East Greenwich Police, the Rhode Island State Police, and the West
Warwick Police were on the scene.
I Lori Ann Zarlenga state that a West Warwick Police Officer pulled me out of the
vehicle where I was located in the back seat near my 5 year old granddaughter, with my
mother and son in the front seat of the vehicle.
I Lori Ann Zarlenga state that the Police proceeded to slam me to the ground and force
handcuffs on me and force me in the back seat of the West Warwick Police Vehicle.
I repeatedly asked the West Warwick Police Officer why the police forced handcuffs on
me and forced me in the back seat of the police vehicle, but the West Warwick Police
Officer repeatedly ignored me.
I continued to ask the West Warwick Police Officer why the police forced handcuffs on
me and forced me in the back seat of the police vehicle, he then stated to me that he was
trying to protect me .
While I was in the West Warwick Police vehicle, I observed police officers saluting to
each other with regard to capturing me.
While I was in the back seat of the West Warwick Police vehicle, a West Warwick Police
Officer asked me if I was injured and if I needed to go to the hospital inorder to lure me
into consenting to go to the hospital.
I stated to the West Warwick Police officer that I did not need to go to the hospital.
The West Warwick Police Officer told me that the fire rescue was going to take me to the
hospital for a psych evaluation.
I stated to the West Warwick Police officer that I did not want to go to the hospital and
that I did not need a pych evaluation. However, the West Warwick Police Officer told me
that I had to get into the Fire Rescue and go to the hospital. As a result, I had no other
choice but be taken by fire rescue to Kent County Memorial Hospital for a psych
evaluation without my consent.
My mother told me that the police officers apologized to her and stated to my mother
that they made a mistake .
I was subsequently taken by ambulance and transferred
to Land mark Medical Center without my consent and held hostage in lock down mental
health unit against my will. All of the evidence that was in my favor was ignored
by the doctors, social workers, and psychiatrist at Kent County Memorial Hospital and
Landmark Medical Center. The doctors, social workers, and psychiatrist at Kent County
Memorial Hospital and Land mark Medical Center manipulated and skewed the true facts
to cause me harm in connection with helping law enforcement and United States
Government from preventing me from exposing the truth to the American people and
my case continuing on Appeal with regard to the criminal acts committed by law
enforcement and the United States Government.
My Mother stated to the psychiatrist and nurses at Landmark Medical Center that I was
not delusional or paranoid and that I have never been a danger to myself or others and
that I have no history of mental health, and that I have never had a history of being
prescribed psychiatric medication and that I did not need psychiatric medication
my complaints against law enforcement are legitimate.
However, Dr. Elahi disregarded my mother statements and proceeded to contact his lawyer to
discuss whether or not he should discharge me, despite all evidence in my favor.
My family member stated to me that nurses at Landmark Medial Center made
statements about being disgusted with Dr. Shahid Elahi for consulting with his lawyer
with regard to whether or not to discharge me and delaying my discharge.
The nurses at Landmark Medical Center stated to me that I did not belong at Landmark
Medical Center Mental Health Unit
I have never had a history of mental illness.
On September 4, 2007, I was discharged from Landmark Medical Center.
I have never had a history of being targeted by the United States Government, Federal
and State law enforcement, among others prior to my L-tryptophan lawsuit.
In August of 2007, I had an Appeal pending in the First Circuit United States Court of
Appeals with regard to my December 7, 2006 Complaint against the United States
Government et al. As a result, of being held hostage in the hospital from August 21, 2007
to September of 2007, along with intimidation from law enforcement, among others in
connection with the United States Government I was unable to respond important
deadlines set by the First Circuit United States Court of Appeals . As a result, my Appeal with the First Circuit United States Court of Appeals is in default/dismissed for lack of
diligent prosecution.
As a result of my ingestion of contaminated L-tryptophan manufactured by Showa
Denko K.K., I developed a disease Eosinphilia Myalgia Syndrome. There are
approximately 5,000 people who ingested contaminated L-tryptophan
manufactured by Showa Denko K.K., and developed a disease Eosinphilia Myalgia
Syndrome. There maybe more unreported cases of Eosinphilia Myalgia
Syndrome caused by ingestion of contaminated L-tryptophan .
The L-tryptophan problem is the fault of the FDA due to lack of enforcement of 172.320,
among other violations of the FDA rules. Therefore, the FDA permitted the continued
illegal use of L-tryptophan.
If the FDA had enforced action against Showa Denko K.K., for violation of the FDA
rules mentioned herein, then L-tryptophan would not have been on the market and sold
to the American Public and caused death and illnesses associated with the sales of L-
tryptophan .
On October 25, 1995, I filed a products liability lawsuit against the Defendants
Showa Denko, K.K., Showa Denko America, Inc. General Nutrition Centers (GNC), et al. in
the State of Rhode Island Superior Court.
My case was transferred to Rhode Island District Court, (Blaquiere v. Showa Denko, K.K.,
Showa Denko America, Inc. General Nutrition Centers (GNC), et al., C.A.No.1:95-629 ).
My case was subsequently transferred for discovery to (MDL) United States District Court
Columbia, South Carolina, C. A. No. 3:96-361-0.
My case (Blaquiere v. Showa Denko, K.K., Showa Denko America, Inc. General
Nutrition Centers (GNC), et al., (C.A.No.1:95-629 ) was remanded to Rhode Island
District Court in 2003.
I hired a lawyer Dennis S. Mackin in 2000/2001 who used my case to file discovery
motions in the(MDL) United States District Court Columbia, South Carolina, (C. A. No. 3:96-
361-0), damaging to the defendant ShowaDenkoK.K.,their lawyers,Cleary,Gottlieb,Steen,and
Hamilton, and the United States Government.
My former lawyer Dennis Mackin was paid off to withdraw from my case and to
not go forward with the discovery motions and depositions damaging to Showa
Denko K.K., their lawyers, and the United States Government.
The discovery sought in my case that my former attorney Dennis Mackin filed in 2001 in the(MDL) United States District Court Columbia, South Carolina, (C. A. No. 3:96-361-0) was to demonstrate that Showa Denko K.K. and its attorneys have been involved in a continuing conspiracy to not only circumvent the discovery process, but to manipulate any scientific examination of Showa Denko K.K.’s reckless and wanton conduct”.
The United States Government wiretapped my phones, hacked my computers, surviellanced me during my L-tryptophan litigation and to the present. The United States Government obstructed justice, unlawfully sabotage my case inside and outside of the court system at every level.
My former attorney Dennis Mackin stated in his October 12, 2001 Reply of Plaintiff to Defendant's Motion to Qaush Deposition of Kenneth Rabin , that "additional questions must be answered about political pressure brought to bear upon members of the South Carolina Congressional delegation."" What information was given to Senator Thurmond, Senator Hollings and Congressman Ravenell?"
Documents made by Showa Denko K.K. included a budget attached to their public
relation scheme which was an amount determined for congressional
contracts, including the South Carolina delegation which was for 16, 000.00.
My former attorney Dennis Mackin stated in his motions that, “ The research of
this Eosinophilia Myalgia Syndrome has been twisted by the endless
manipulations by Showa Denko K.K and their lawyers,Cleary,Gottlieb,Steen, and
Hamilton and their confederates”. “ Worst of all, the scientific literature now
contains representations by shills for Showa Denko K.K. that will cause erroneous
medical science in the future”.
The United States Government is involved in the cover up .
My former attorney Dennis Mackin informed me that a promoter of an EMS
support group was being surveillanced and that anyone that who was viewed as a
threat was being surveillanced and intelligence was gathered .
The defendant Showa Denko K.K. a corrupt corporate giant, their corrupt lawyers,
and the United States Government conspired with all the courts at every level to
sabotage my case and the L-tryptophan litigation.
Showa Denko K.K., their lawyers, and the United States Government view me as
a threat, since my lawsuit still remains open that is damaging against Showa
Denko K.K. and General Nutrition Centers (GNC), among others. Also, Showa Denko K.K., their lawyers, and the United States Government, President George W. Bush and Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri fear the threat of civil and criminal action against them for their unlawful criminal activities.
I pose a threat to Showa Denko K.K. and the United States Government since,
my L-tryptophan lawsuit could re-open previous settlements entered into by
2,000- 5,000 L-tryptophan litigants on the basis of fraudulent inducement and the
United States Government's involvement in the cover up.
They were entered into by L-tryptophan Plaintiffs who were unaware of the defendants fraudulent concealment and the United States Government's cover up.
Showa Denko K.K., the United States Government, President George W. Bush and
Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri fear a movie being made and publicizing
their criminal activities which has continued to date.
President George W. Bush's father former President George H. W. Bush Sr. was
President of the United States from 1989 to 1993 during the Eosiophilia Myalgia Syndrome epidemic.
I filed a Complaint on December 7, 2006 against the United States Government et al. in
the United States District Court of Rhode Island, CA. No. 06-534 ML. My complaint is
pending in the First Circuit Court of Appeals. The United States Government have hired
my family, among others as informants to surveillance and gather intelligence on me.
At the time that I filed my December 7, 2006 complaint against a number of defendants
who are employed by the United States Government, I was unaware of orders issued by
President George W. Bush and Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri to assasinate/
murder me.
I spoke to a state senator with regard to my circumstances of law enforcement on the state and federal level that have harassed, targeted, survillenced me and have come out to my house and follow me on a daily basis. Also, the West Warwick police have even parked at my grandchild’s school shortly after I exposed President George W. Bush orders to assassinate/murder me.
The state senator stated to me that federal law enforcement, the Attorney General of the United States, and the Department of Justice are employed by President George W. Bush.
Moreover, my case is not isolated by a small number of police and law enforcement targeting and surveillanceing me. There are to many law enforcement and police and government officials organized at the highest level on the federal and local level that have targeted and surviellanced me. The state senator stated that the orders to murder me are coming from the President George W. Bush .
Further, the Rhode Island State Police who have been targeting and surviellancing me are given orders from Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri
In June or July of 2007, President George W. Bush came to Rhode Island and went on a
private helicopter ride with Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri and had discussions.
Shortly after I filed my December 7, 2006 complaint against the United States
Government et al, two key defendants named in my complaint retired Captain Gregory
Johnson of the West Warwick Police Department and Supervisory Special Agent
Nicholas Murphy of the Federal Bureau of investigation of R.I., and there may be others
who have also retired.
I am targeted, followed, and surveillanced by police officers, among others in the towns and places I travel in the state of Rhode Island and out of the state of Rhode Island on a daily basis.
The level of intensity and the number of police targeting, surviellancing, and following me has increased after I filed my December 7, 2006 complaint. And now since I have exposed President George W. Bush who issued orders to assassinate/murder me, the level of intensity and the number of police surviellacing and following me has further increased.
My telephones are wiretapped. The United States Government is hacking my computers.
The Federal Bureau of investigation, among others covered up the investigation of the hacking of my computers.
The Federal Bureau of investigation, United States Attorneys Office , Attorney Generals office, Department of Justice, among others are covering up and aware of the fact that I was kidnapped and assaulted by a Warwick Police Officer Joseph Mee on January 22, 2006 that was organized at the highest level of United States Government to assassinate/ murder me.
Further, law enforcement, among others are covering up the fact that on December 15, 2005 and December 16, 2005, Captain Gregg Johnson and Officer Patrick Kelly and the Kent County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Staff violated my constitutional rights and deprived me of liberty against my will and without my consent to cause me harm in connection with the United States Government and Showa Denko K.K.
On April 14, 2006, I spoke to Laura Lineberry who is Condalezza Rice's personal assistant. Laura Lineberry informed me that she could not help me with regard to my circumstances mentioned herein, and that I should leave a message with the Representative of Secretary of State. I left a message with the Representative of Secretary of State, but no one returned my call.
On April 14, 2006, I contacted the White House comments department in Washington, DC for help with regard to my circumstances mentioned herein, and spoke to a young lady number(77) who stated she would pass on my comments to her supervisor and that her supervisor would summarize my comments and give it to President Bush. On April 14, 2006, I was unaware that President George W. Bush issued orders to assassinate/ murder me.
President George W. Bush, Condalezza Rice's office , nor anyone associated with the White House, responded in any way shape or form to my plea for help with regard to my circumstances mentioned herein.
I have evidence of my telephone calls to the White House, among others.
The IP Addresses with regard to the hacking of my computers have been traced to Washington, D.C.

Pacer website and have intentionally obstructed my case and deprived me of a fair judicial process, inorder to protect and insulate the United States Government et al.
UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INITIATE ACTION AGAINST SHOWA DENKO K.K. FOR THE FOLLOWING VIOLATIONS:
The L-tryptophan problem is the fault of the FDA due to lack of enforcement of 172.320, among other
violations of the FDA rules. Therefore, the FDA permitted the continued illegal use of L-tryptophan.
If the FDA had enforced action against Showa Denko K.K.,for violation of the FDA rules mentioned
herein, then L-tryptophan would not have been on the market and sold to the American Public and
caused death and illnesses associated with the sales of L-tryptophan in violation of the FDA rule.
In 1970 FDA considered L-tryptophan (amino acids) , when used as nutrients or dietary supplements, to
be generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for those uses, and published that fact in the code of Federal
Regulations.
In 1972 FDA engaged in rule making to withdraw and remove approximately twenty amino acids
including L-tryptophan from the GRAS list ( generally recognized as safe) and to regulate them as
approved food additives that could not be sold without FDA's prior approval in the form of a food
additive petition, (37 Fed. Reg. 6938; April 6, 1972).
In 1973 FDA promulgated a binding substantive rule that is presently on the books, the Food additive
regulation that makes all amino acids, when used as components of dietary supplements,
unsafe food additives that violate the adulteration provisions of Act. 21 C.F.R. 172. 320.
In 1977, FDA seized L-tryptophan tablets on the grounds that the L-tryptophan that they contained
was an unapproved food additive. The court, however, found for the manufacturer of the tablets
because L-tryptophan was still on the FDA's GRAS list, (FDA had failed to remove it after the 1973
rulemaking), and the manufacturer was acting in accordance with the FDA's regulation.
In 1977, FDA deleted the listing of twenty amino acids that were the subject of the 1973 rulemaking
form the GRAS list, ( 42 Fed. Reg. 56720; October 28, 1977).
The FDA never renewed its regulatory action against dietary supplements containing L-tryptophan .
The food additive regulation that the FDA adopted in 1973 does not list (approve) L-tryptophan for
this use, and foods that contain unapproved food additive are deemed to be adulterated (21 U.S.C. 342
(a) (2) (c)).
FDA has not brought an action since 1977 against an L-tryptophan dietary supplement.
The FDA sought to enforce the rule prohibiting the use of amino acids in dietary supplements in two
seizure actions against products containing L-tryptophan. Those seizure actions were not successful.
The U.S. Government voluntarily dismissed the second lawsuit because the lawsuit was controlled by
a very hostile judge and the government feared that it would obtain an adverse ruling that would
insulate all dietary supplements from regulation under the food additive provisions of the act.
The FDA has not made any efforts to regulate amino acids since 1982. FDA ignored the food additive
regulations since 1982. In 1990, there was evidence showing that 30 amino acids other than L-
tryptophan were being sold by at least 22 companies.
The FDA has failed to date to bring charges against Showa Denko K.K. Showa Denko K.K. was in
violation of the FDA Food additive regulation that makes all amino acids, when used as components of
dietary supplements, unsafe food additives that violate the adulteration provisions of Act. 21
C.F.R. 172. 320. FDA should have gone after Showa Denko K.K. on an adulteration charge that the
L-tryptophan in the supplements is an unapproved food additive under 21 U.S.C. 342 (a) (2) (c).
Also, FDA failed to bring charges against Showa Denko K.K. with regard to L-
tryptophan being unfit for food, ( 21 U.S.C. 342 (a) (3). L-trytophan associated with illness
Eosinophilia Myalgia Syndrome, is unfit for food.
The FDA could have gone after L-tryptophan supplements as drugs. The FDA could have
developed evidence that L-tryptophan used for therapeutic purposes to combat sleeplessness and PMS
which is what L-tryptophan was advertized for is considered a drug and the FDA finding L-tryptophan
had not met the FDA's rational food supplement test would permit the FDA to bring drug charges
against the product under either 21 U.S.C. 321(g) (1) (B) or (c), National Nutritional Foods
Association v. Mathews, 557 F.2nd 325, 334 ( 2d Cir. 1977).
If the FDA had enforced action against Showa Denko K.K.,for violation of the FDA rules mentioned
herein, then L-tryptophan would not have been on the market and sold to the American Public and
caused death and illnesses associated with the sales of L-tryptophan in violation of the FDA rule.
On the Rhode Island ACLU website, there is a lawsuit against the United States
Government for Illegally surviellacing individuals attending a peace group in Rhode
Island and in other states.
The United States Government has files on these peace groups and have labeled these
peace group individuals as a threat because their simply anti-war.
The illegal acts of our United States Government is not an example of democracy, it is a
Dictatorship ruled by a dictator President George W. Bush who has committed crimes
against humanity and has violated our human rights.
Representative John Conyers Jr, was the Chairman re: the July 18, 1991 hearing on the FDA oversight of L-tryptophan. Representative John Conyers Jr, is currently the Chairman of the U.S.
House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary who can call for an investigation and immediate congressional hearings into this matter.
Please help me by writing to congress and. to investigate and call for immediate congressional hearings into this matter. Also, contact Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Senator Jack Reed to investigate and call for congressional hearings into this matter. If the American people place enough political pressure to investigate and call for congressional hearings into this matter, then an investigation into this matter will go forward and the truth will be exposed to the American people.
Also, please contact Senate Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid, Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Senator Arlen Specter, Senator Charles E. Schumer, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., Senator John McCain, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, and all members of the Senate to call for investigation and congressional hearings with regard to law enforcement engaged in an ongoing organized crime to assassinate/murder me by orders issued by President George W. Bush.
President George W. Bush has scammed the American people into believing that the Iraq
war is a "just war" and that the United States military are fighting for democracy,
freedom and for our safety here at home, and yet at the same time President George W.
Bush is committing the worst crimes in american history against innocent american
citizens.
Please expedite the above and contact me at my email: LoriZarlenga@hotmail.com

Points to consider when purchasing immediate annuities can be a daunting task, and usually you cannot change your mind once you have made the purchase. That is why it is very important to do your homework first. Here are a few factors that you have to put into consideration when purchasing these products.
Shop Around
There are a lot of highly-rated insurance providers today that offer immediate annuities, and at any point in time, one or two companies might be offering more monthly income for your investment than the rest, due to their own financial capacity and marketing techniques. Insurance experts suggest getting quotes from at least three insurance companies in your state, and ensuring it is on an apples-to-apples comparison for the same kind of annuity.
Safety First
Keep in mind that this is the safe part of your retirement income. Thus, you have to check the background of the insurance companies on your list. A reputable insurance company should be highly rated by renowned rating agencies such the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Standard & Poor’s or A.M. Best. If you think you will be rewarded by taking an investment risk, do that with the fraction of your retirement savings that you do not invest in an immediate annuity and put it in the stock market where there is more potential reward for taking investment risk.
Consider Inflation Protection
Inflation protection starts the payment at a lower level, but increases it once a year, usually by the inflation rate calculated by the government. Inflation protection reduces your “money’s worth ratio” by about five cents on the dollar. Considering the current economic status of the U.S., inflation protection makes sense.
Keep It Simple
Don’t accept costly add-ons, such as coupling the annuity with long-term care insurance or life insurance. These add-ons will only increase the cost of the annuity and make it difficult for you to compare insurance companies.
Consider Diversification
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. You may want to consider spreading your annuity purchase among three or more insurance companies to lessen your exposure to insurance company bankruptcy. For instance, assuming that you have about $300,000 to invest in an annuity; for every insurance company, you should get quotes on investing $100 grand, $200 grand, and $300 grand. If you invest your money in two or more companies, your total revenue might not be much less than investing all your money in one company, and you will have more peace of mind. Check to see if your state has a guarantee association that can add up to $250,000 of protection per account to protect you against insurance company bankruptcy. Most states have their own website, just Google your state name and the words guarantee association for state specific information and coverage.
Ask How Long the Annuity Quotes Are Valid
Annuity rate quotes usually have an expiration date (i.e. seven days, 14 days, etc.). A lot of insurance companies today will accept your application without funding and locking in the quote. But, you will be given up to 60 days to fund the contract.
Ask if Your Health Status will Affect Your Annuity Application
If you have a serious health condition, be sure to mention that in your application form. You may be qualified for a medically underwritten immediate annuity which will pay you a greater amount per month.
Ask What Will Happen to Your Premium Payment or Income Stream If You Die Too Early
When it comes to life only immediate annuities, the amount you paid for your immediate annuity is forfeited upon your death. But, most annuity companies nowadays offer optional riders that return the remaining unused premium dollars when you die prematurely. Thus, don’t forget to ask the refund options when you gather quotes.
Read the Fine Print
As with any crucial financial decision, it’s advisable to carefully read the fine print before you sign the dotted line. Carefully review the annuity quote or illustration. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to address them with your agent before you purchase the immediate annuities. Keep in mind that you can’t change your mind once you’ve made the purchase.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Know that whatever your decision is, your satisfaction is always guaranteed! You have ten days (or one month, in some states) from the day your contract is sent to you to request that the insurance company refunds your full premium to you. No questions will be asked. This is known as the “free look” period, during which you can have a lawyer or a family member review the immediate annuities contract to make sure it gives you the coverage you need. NoMa Photo Group Presents Vague Terrain: Manhattanville
The NoMa Photo (Northern Manhattan Photographers) Group is pleased to announce a group exhibition Vague Terrain: Manhattanville at City College Art Gallery, curated by Maria Politarhos.
Vague Terrain: Manhattanville presents the discoveries of an eclectic clan of 23 photographers who spent a year chronicling the architecture, artifacts, and people of Manhattanville. The exhibit identifies this particular urban unit as a viable neighborhood. It is a photographic testimonial of an expedition during a period of
ongoing and dramatic changes for the community. The Harlem area’s boundaries are from 122nd Street to 135th Street between the Hudson River and St. Nicholas Park.
“Terrain vague” is the term coined by architect and critic Ignasi de Sola-Morales to describe urban environments full of ambiguous spaces—where there is beautiful tension between an area’s architecture and its environment, where the space is in some way strange, unresolved, or unsettling.
Photographers: Evi Abeler, Brother Anthony-Francis, Christopher Auger-Dominguez, Vern Ballard, Elizabeth Borda, Greg Brophy, Dawn Chase, Maggie Clarke, Matthew Evearitt, Peter Ferko, Evelyn Fernandez, Mike Fitelson, Lenny Garcia, Simeon Gilmer, Karen Green, Rebeca Lebkoff, Caren Litherland, Eliud Martinez, Michael Palma, Robert Polanco, Sirin Samman, Tom Stoelker, and Ivette Urbaez.

To Whom It May Concern:
NoMa Photo Group, comprised of photographers living and
working in Northern Manhattan, is undertaking a documentary
project on the neighborhood commonly known as Manhattanville,
an area roughly bounded by W. 125th and W. 135th Streets,
Broadway and 12th Avenue. It’s a neighborhood that is at the
center of much potential change in the near future.
Over the next few months, our photographers will document
the streetscapes, buildings, residents, and workers of this longstanding
community, preserving what it looks like at a moment in
time. This record will serve a similar role as photographs of the
original Penn Station and old financial district do now: reminding
future generations what forgotten New York once looked like.
We are approaching this project through the urban planning
concept of “terrain vague,” exploring the role that older buildings
play in the urban infrastructure as a counterpoint to homogenous,
planned development.
NoMa Photo Group is comprised of working photographers who
believe that the responsible uses of photography – as a form of
art or tool for communication – can help us better understand the
world we live in. The individual photographers undertook this
project as volunteers and have not received outside financial, or
other, support. We appreciate your assistance in helping us complete our
documentary project.

NoMa Photo Group Presents
Vague Terrain: Manhattanville
Background Details:
“Each photographer, guided by their personal vision, explored Manhattanville to discover and to reveal its people and structures as anthropologists and archaeologists might,” explains group spokesman Vern Ballard. “For our group this is not merely intended to be a documentary or journalistic project, nor is it just a collection of artistic and political statements.” The group employs a gamut of cameras: Holga, 35mm, medium format, Polaroid, digital. They utilize darkroom and digital workflows, as well as special techniques. The results are as varied as the group itself. “Initially, there were a lot of desolate urban landscapes,” recalls Ballard, “but that changed midway through the project when Rebecca Lepkoff asked, ‘Where are the people?!’” Lepkoff is a founding member of the group. Beginning in the 1920s she established a reputation by chronicling the Lower East Side. As a result the exhibit evolved into a body of abstract, architectural, graphic, street, urban landscape, and environmental portraits, including people. In the late 19th and early 20th century, Manhattanville was the site of bustling industrial and commercial
activity. Commuters were levitated through Manhattanville via the Broadway elevated subway and the Riverside Drive Viaduct. One hundred and twenty-fifth Street had a port on the Hudson. Two auto assembly plants, the Nash and Studebaker Buildings, were at 133rd and Broadway. According to local lore, the Nash Building was retooled to accommodate the Manhattan Project. Each of these architectural relics is featured
in the foreground and background of the show. In recent years, Manhattanville’s nondescript gas stations, automotive repair shops, bus depots, store fronts,
and storage facilities have given way to epicurean delights, such as Fairway’s gourmet emporium and a handful of hip restaurants. The signs of evolution have been eclipsed by the struggle between Columbia University’s 30-year, multi billion-dollar expansion plan and storage magnate Nick Sprayragen’s refusal to dislodge his family business, in spite of the threat of eminent domain. Other epoch-shifting forces of
gentrification have left many residents, local business owners, neighborhood preservationists, and community activists apprehensive about their ability to maintain Manhattanville’s character and affordability. These forces provide the subtext of today’s Manhattanville. Few doubt they will jeopardize many aspects of the Manhattanville depicted in this exhibition. In 2008, Manhattanville is a prime example of a “Vague Terrain,” not only because the place itself is “unsettled,” but because its future is as well. Two opposing visions generally polarize the discussion of vague
spaces in areas such as Manhattanville. The first decries the disorder, decay, and blight they represent in the city. The second, by contrast, highlights their potential interest as livable spaces where artistic, religious, and cultural freedoms flourish. Manhattanville is our “vague terrain.”

JAKARTA WELCOMES ITS FIRST TUNE HOTEL
Value branded hotel chain continues its expansion in Indonesia
Jakarta, 3 September 2012 – Tune Hotels, the global branded value hotel chain, continues to expand in Indonesia with the opening of its latest hotel in Pasar Baru, Jakarta. Tune Hotel Pasar Baru would represent the global brand’s third property in Indonesia, (following Tune Hotel Kuta and Legian in Bali) and the first hotel in central Jakarta, offering world-class accommodation at extremely affordable rates, providing the essentials for a good night’s sleep. Tune Hotel Pasar Baru has 168 rooms in total, 125 Doubles, 42 Twin-sharing and a special needs room. The opening of Tune Hotel Pasar Baru was attended by popular Indonesian celebrities Nicholas Saputra and Izabel Jahja.
The expansion of the Tune Hotel brand in Indonesia is spurred by the country’s strong economy, rising number of tourists and favorable business environment. Jakarta is one of the largest cities in the world and ranked third after Bali and Sulawesi recording the highest hotel room occupancy in Indonesia according to the Statistics Indonesia of the Republic Indonesia. Pasar Baru is one of Jakarta’s most popular tourist destination and its central location is also ideal for business activities. Known for its shopping experience, visitors can “go back in time” to take in the beauty of its Dutch influenced colonial and Chinese architecture of its buildings as one strolls along the coble stone streets.
According to Mark Lankester, Group CEO of Tune Hotels, “Jakarta represents a gateway for leisure travellers more often as a stop-over before continuing their journey to other popular destinations such as Bali, Medan, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. Nevertheless Jakarta also serves as a central business destination drawing frequent business travellers from the South East Asian region and domestically within Indonesia as well. Hence, the opening of Tune Hotel Pasar Baru would cater to the needs of leisure and business travellers looking for convenient, comfortable and value-for-money accommodation. “
Lankester added that more expansion plans are on the way for the Tune Hotel brand in Indonesia which includes Pekan Baru, Makassar, Solo, Palembang and Surabaya. The vast country of sprawling archipelago has much to offer; from natural beauty, historical heritage to cultural diversity. Moreover, statistics from the Travel and Tourism Competitive Index (TTCI) in 2011 ranks Indonesia as the thirteenth most attractive destination in the Asia-Pacific to commence travel and tourism business operations.
Other Tune Hotel properties in Indonesia are located in Kuta and Legian, Bali which have been a favourite among visitors to Bali. The hotels’ popularity was recognized when it was named among the Top 20 Indonesia Innovative Brands of 2011 by Indonesia’s leading marketing industry magazine, MIX. It was Tune Hotels' innovativeness to its ability to serve the practical needs of tourists by giving them the best value that garnered the attention and illustrated by Legian and Kuta hotels being ranked #3 and #7 Best Value Hotels in Bali on TripAdvisor. Tune Hotels was selected along with other global leading brands to be named on the list and the only Malaysian-originated brand.

Cities Mobilized to Shine a Light on Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership
"Trade" Deal Telling Congress "Don't Fast Track a Train Wreck - FLUSH
the TPP!"

Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, the Overpass Light
Brigade network, and more.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 31, 2015

Agencies Conserve Imperiled Species in Eastern Kentucky;
Propose delisting for one plant, and positive steps for a darter
Stanton, Ky. – State and Federal conservation agencies came together here today to celebrate partnerships that are delivering conservation successes in eastern Kentucky.
After more than two decades of collaboration and conservation work in the Daniel Boone National Forest, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to remove the white-haired goldenrod – a plant unique to eastern Kentucky – from the list of threatened and endangered species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
Daniel Boone National Forest and the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission played leading roles in the white-haired goldenrod’s recovery. White-haired goldenrod is only found in sandstone rock shelters or on sandstone cliffs with overhanging ledges in the Red River Gorge region of eastern
Kentucky. When the plant was listed as threatened in 1988, threats included the loss of habitat due to recreational activities such as rock climbing, hiking, camping, and rappelling; artifact collection; and a proposed reservoir project.
“The Daniel Boone National Forest began a project to fence white-haired goldenrod sites affected by recreational use in about 2003,” said Bill Lorenz, forest supervisor for the Daniel Boone National Forest.
“We asked the public to help us protect the plant by staying out of the fenced rock shelters where some damage was occurring. We were pleased at how quickly members of the public acknowledged our request and complied.”
“The Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission has been monitoring white-haired goldenrod in the
Red River Gorge for more than 20 years,” said Donald S. Dott, Jr., director Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission. “While recreational impact to some of the populations has occurred, the majority of the plant’s populations have been stable for well over 10 years. We believe that with an annual
monitoring program, public education, and an effective management plan coordinated by several agencies and conservation groups, this unique and rare goldenrod will be protected.”
“We are thankful for the great efforts of the U.S. Forest Service and the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission that helped us guide the white-haired goldenrod toward recovery,” said Mike Oetker, the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Southeast Deputy Regional Director. “The proposed delisting of the white-haired goldenrod demonstrates that the Endangered Species Act works, and we will continue to work with our conservation partners to monitor and manage the plant’s populations.”
At the same time, the two federal agencies also are stepping up to proactively conserve the Kentucky arrow darter, a candidate for protection under the ESA. Through a Candidate Conservation Agreement signed today, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service are committing to take actions that will protect the small fish found in some of the small, headwater streams of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The Red Bird Ranger District of the Daniel Boone National Forest is a stronghold for the darter. Populations of the Kentucky arrow darter in the Daniel Boone National Forest and the University of Kentucky’s Robinson Forest constitute almost 49 percent of the species’ remaining occupied habitat.
Habitat loss and degradation represent the most significant threats to the darter.
This commitment to proactive, voluntary conservation will ensure needed management actions for the Kentucky arrow darter will occur. Some improvements under this agreement include replacing culverts impeding the Kentucky arrow darter’s natural movements and developing a forest-wide monitoring program for the fish.
“The Candidate Conservation Agreement is the latest step to proactively address at-risk species throughout the Southeast,” said Southern Regional Forester Tony Tooke. “The CCA is another example
of the long-standing partnership between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Forest Service, which has produced multiple CCAs over the past several years.”
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will decide whether to protect the Kentucky arrow darter under the ESA later this fall. This decision is part of the Service’s efforts to implement a court-approved work plan under a Multi-District Listing Agreement aimed at addressing a series of lawsuits concerning the agency’s ESA listing program. The intent of the agreement is to significantly reduce a litigation-driven workload.
For more information about the work plan, see www.fws.gov/southeast/candidateconservation/.
This settlement and others led to a broader partner-driven effort in the Southeast to more fully use
flexibilities within the ESA to put the right conservation in the right places and benefit imperiled species.
The proactive effort for the Kentucky arrow darter is part of this collaborative strategy to boost plant and wildlife populations and habitat before they need protection under the ESA.
The proposed delisting of the white-haired goldenrod follows a comprehensive review by the Service of the best available scientific and commercial information concerning the plant’s status as required by the ESA.
Along with the goldenrod’s proposed delisting, the Service is announcing a draft post-delisting monitoring plan for the plant. The public is invited to submit comments on the delisting proposal and the draft post-delisting monitoring plan for 60 days through November 2, 2015.
Over the last 21 years, the Daniel Boone National Forest redirected trails, installed and maintained protective fencing around sensitive locations where the plant is found, completed numerous back-country patrols near white-haired goldenrod habitats, and placed informational signs at rock shelters, picnic areas, and trailheads that provided information about the plant and ways the public could avoid impacting it.
The Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission completed multiple status surveys for the species from 1996 to 2013, including an intensive range-wide effort in 2008-2009. These surveys documented each occurrence’s population size and viability, habitat condition, and the severity of the threats facing each population. The Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission also prepared a variety of fact sheets and
posters that educated the public about the plant and how to protect its populations.
Currently, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission are working to finalize a cooperative management agreement that will provide for the plant’s long-term protection. The management agreement outlines conservation actions
that will benefit the goldenrod.
Written comments concerning the proposed delisting of the white-haired goldenrod or its draft post-delisting monitoring plan should be submitted by accessing the Federal eRulemaking Portal: www.regulations.gov.
Follow the instructions for submitting comments on Attn: FWS-R4-ES-2014-0054. Comments also can be mailed to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Headquarters, MS. ES, 5275 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA, 22041-3803, Attn: FWS-R4-ES-2014-0054.
For more information about the proposed delisting of white-haired goldenrod, please visit

For Immediate Release: Day before Wikileak of TPP Document - 13
Cities Mobilized to Shine a Light on Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership
"Trade" Deal Telling Congress "Don't Fast Track a Train Wreck - FLUSH
the TPP!"

Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, the Overpass Light
Brigade network, and more.

Super-producer Stir Crazy has stamped his imprint on the music scene since 2003. His production has helped create career defining hits for artists such as Potluck, D12, Bizzy Bone, Toxsick, Kamal, Tre Pound, SOL, T.O.N.Ez, The Insane Clown Posse and many others. Respected beyond the genres of hip hop and urban music, Stir Crazy, has also been sought by superstars and underground legends whose music needs a new edge.
Born Jesse Elliott in Detroit, Michigan on December 23, 1986, Stir Crazy has had many reincarnations-- from a partnership in the label Super Phat Productions, and involved in a super group which consists of Dood Computer (of Doom Fist) and Himself.
Chop Shops smash hit single ‘Heart”, and Kamal’s debut cd Certified produced by Stir Crazy, introduced a unique style that defined the new wave of music in the years too come. Hip Hop and R&B with crazy effects held together by complex drum patterns. Death B4 Dishoner a group consisting of Lokey, T.O.N.Ez and Stir Crazy proved Stir Crazy could step out his normal boundaries and do heavy metal and rock production.
Recently he has helped form, and in a music group with Dood Computer from Albany, New York and about to release there new upcoming album. The reason this album is getting so much attention is because of the marketing. It is coming out on cassette tape only.
Stir Crazy’s sound is unexplainable, and meant to be listened to, not read….
His partnership with fellow producer Tre Pound, has spanned the untouchable label Super Phat Productions, and there trademark sound has spawned numerous imitators in the Detroit area. Still known as the originators of the new wave of Detroit sound when it comes to hip hop and R&B music.
Along the way he built an impressive arsenal of studio equipment, and worked/works at many studios in Detroit where he does most of his production. He regularly travels between his home studio and other studios around the area and other states working on many projects.
Stir Crazy’s genre breaking has changed music today and he takes pride in his success at staying ahead of the game with his experimentation and originality. Hard working and confident, his goal is to always stay ten steps ahead of the competitors while making fans not only hear but ‘feel’ music.
One thing Stir Crazy has on his side, other than incredible talent, is visibility. He has been featured on numerous websites as well as print.. He has been seen on several DVD’s, and he has a role in a feature film, Zombie Prom.. Then there are his numerous other appearances and accomplishments. He was named producer of the year by Juggalo News by voting of fans. The acknowledgment came as a surprise, he got a message that he was going to be featured, and there he was, without having to submit anything about himself. The word is out!
“You can accomplish any dream or goals in life, with hard work and confidence” says the dedicated Stir Crazy. He is a innovator of sound which continues to set new standards, while always expanding his musical palette.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Innovo Publishing, LLC Releases The Tommie Scott Story: From Gangs, Drugs, and Crime to Soldier for Christ by Tommie Scott.
Summary / Description: Innovo Publishing, LLC released The Tommie Scott Story: From Gangs, Drugs, and Crime to Soldier for Christ, the real-life account of how Tommie Scott was able to escape a life of poverty, drugs, crime, and gangs. This book is available now in the U.S. and internationally in paperback, hardback, Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, Apple iPad/iPhone, Google Android, and other smartphone editions.
Memphis, TN – Fall , 2013 – Innovo Publishing, LLC released a new Christian title, The Tommie Scott Story, written by Tommie Scott. With Jesus, there is always hope, no matter how bad things are. The Tommie Scott Story is a true story—a true love story—but not of the usual variety.
This is a story of a gangbanger, drug dealer, and “hit man” who worked his way through the juvenile reform system and into a California state prison by age twenty. It’s the story of an angry young criminal with no remorse and no hope. And it’s here—in the depths of hopeless darkness—that this story begins again. It begins again with a humble, gray-haired man who was not ashamed to be a servant and to share the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. It begins again with a new birth—a spiritual rebirth into God’s family through Jesus Christ. And it continues today with a repentant and joyful servant—a dedicated soldier for Christ—whose true story affirms God’s Word that says, “… neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38, NIV).
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV).
“The Tommie Scott Story needs to be read by kids who are at risk to gangs as well as those already caught up in destructive lifestyles. Every juvenile and adult correctional facility should have this book to give hope that they too can have a future with purpose and meaning. I was casting director on the feature film The Cross and the Switchblade and over the years, tens of thousands have been saved out of gangs and drugs as a result of seeing this movie. I believe Tommie’s story has the same potential and is needed more than ever today with all the young lives being lost in our inner cities.”
—Pastor Kleg Seth
“I’ve been in prison ministry a long time and Tommie Scott is one of a handful of guys where I sit back and say, ‘Wow, look what God did!’ I’m excited about what God has done in Tommie’s life.”
—Tim Berends, evangelist and host of Jesus and Tim, Las Vegas
“When in His earthly ministry, as Jesus entered a village, those who encountered Him experienced change. The remarkable story of Tommie Scott testifies to the fact that Jesus is still transforming lives, for Tommie is a trophy of grace! I highly recommend the reading of his life story; it will challenge you to be more faithful in leading others to Christ, for there is power in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!”
—Dr. E. A. Johnston, evangelist and author
“Any and all who venture into these pages will be changed. This is a story of the redemption of a dark and dangerous soul who is brought to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Don’t let the darkness frighten you because there is a Great Light of Glory in the end. Tommie’s life-changing meeting with Christ will impact the world with much greater force that his deadly past ever could.”
—Fred Hodges, Christian talk radio host
“I know Tommy Scott, and he is the real thing. I am in awe of his boldness for the Lord and the level of spiritual insight he has. It is my prayer that this book gets into the hands and hearts of millions of boys and men.”
—Danny Daniels, president of 888 Prayer Force and Million Hour Men of Prayer
The Tommie Scott Story is available now in the U.S. and internationally in paperback (ISBN: 978-1-61314-181-6), hardback (ISBN: 978-1-31614-165-6), Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, Apple iPad/iPhone, Google Android, and other smartphone editions.
About the Author: Tommie Scott is former gang member and now born-again believer in Jesus Christ. He is an author, advocate for at-risk youth, a chaplain for the Las Vegas Community Gang Task Force, and a dedicated witness and soldier for Christ. Tommie is a native of Southern California. He grew up in poverty and was introduced to drugs, alcohol, and gangs as a pre-teen. The juvenile justice system, and later the California Department of Corrections, became his home. By God’s grace, Tommie was
introduced to Jesus Christ through a faithful Christian prison ministry. Just like Paul’s dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus, God changed Tommie’s heart and life forever during a prison Bible study. Tommie is now living and doing good works in Christ in Las Vegas, Nevada, with his wife, Rache’t, and their five children

Cities Mobilized to Shine a Light on Secret Trans-Pacific Partnership
"Trade" Deal Telling Congress "Don't Fast Track a Train Wreck - FLUSH
the TPP!"

Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, the Overpass Light
Brigade network, and more.

Red Planet Hotels owns and operates the Tune Hotel Pasar Baru in close association with Tune Hotel and its Chief Executive Officer, Tim Hansing, said that this hotel was the first of many more to come in Indonesia from Red Planet as the Tune brand expands across the country.
“This is the first hotel of eight more we have under construction in Indonesia and we will have some exciting announcements about more sites we are in the midst of acquiring. We are making some significant investments in Indonesia in the budget hotel sector as we have full confidence in the potential of Indonesia and the Indonesian travel sector to grow this market” said Hansing.
Tune Hotels currently has eleven hotels in Malaysia, four in LondonUnited Kingdom, four in The Philippines and two in Thailand. Hotels in Malaysia are located in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, KLIA-LCCT Airport, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Johor Bahru, Kota Damansara, Bintulu, Kota Bharu, Kulim and Ipoh.
Hotels in Asia includes Hat Yai and Pattaya in Thailand; Angeles City, Cebu City, Ermita and Makati, Manila in The Philippines; Kuta and Legian in Bali and Pasar Baru, Jakarta in Indonesia; Westminster, Liverpool Street, Paddington and Kings Cross in London, UK. Tune Hotels has successfully pioneered a branded value hotel brand with the concept of pay-as-you-use that has become hugely popular amongst travelers from across the world. Under the concept, guests only pay for room rates with the option of adding on other amenities like towels & toiletries, air-conditioning, in-room Wifi and satellite TV service at selected hotels.
Calling on guests to stay connected with Tune Hotels via the social media networks Facebook and Twitter, Mark Lankester, says “More Tune Hotels are scheduled for opening in Asean, the UK, India and Australia, that will give our guests even more options for travel destinations. We encourage guests to stay tuned for Tune Hotels’ latest openings and promotions via Facebook and Twitter.”
Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Dato’ Kamarudin Meranun, who are the Group CEO and Deputy Group CEO respectively of Asia’s largest low cost carrier AirAsia.

In 1994, Giant Robot was born with the purpose of documenting and promoting new, up-and-coming, underdog, overlooked, and hybrid Asian and Asian-American popular culture. Fifteen years later, the self-published magazine has not only evolved from a stapled-and-folded zine into a full-color, glossy publication with an international following, but also opened trend-setting shops and influential art galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City. To celebrate the magazine's longevity, energy, and loyal readership, the second Giant Robot Biennale is being hosted by the Japanese American National Museum in Downtown Los Angeles from October 24, 2009 to January 24, 2010. The event will feature several exhibits, including the following:
To provide a visual overview of the Giant Robot aesthetic, publisher Eric Nakamura is curating artwork by individuals who have contributed to shows at Giant Robot's galleries, been featured in the pages of the magazine, or even contributed cover art. The main hall will include installations by Albert Reyes, Jack Long, kozyndan, David Choe, Theo Ellsworth, James Jean, Stella Lai, Souther Salazar, Jeff Soto, and Deth P. Sun. A second hall will include the contributions of more than 50 others:

The photography of longtime magazine contributor Ben Clark will also be featured in a retrospective. Clark's powerful images from past issues will be displayed in a larger, more vibrant print format, accompanied by recollections, explanations, and other ramblings by editor Martin Wong.
The roots of Asian popular culture--the kaiju scene introduced by Godzilla, Gamera, other giant monsters, and the toy industry they spawned--will be paid tribute to by a run of collaborative works made by Japanese indie sculptor and artist Yukinori Dehara, UglyDolls co-creator David Horvath, and Portland, Oregon-based underground toy legend LeMerde.
In addition, five custom videogames have been developed by the Attract Mode collective in conjunction with some of Giant Robot's favorite artists. Tuesday's coordinated actions were organized by the Backbone Campaign,
which specializes in "amplifying citizen engagement with creative
tactics and artful activism" in collaboration with Public Citizen's
Global Trade Watch, PopularResistance.org, Fair Trade Coalitions in
Washington and Oregon, the Overpass Light
Brigade network, and more.

On the immediate left, out of shot, is the Royal Bath Hotel.
Next on the left is the Bath Rd South car park, that used to be the site of three large, detached properties. Nearest to us would have been Rothesay, built in 1868, it was furnished apartments until it became the Rothesay Hotel in the 1940s. In the 1960s it became the Rothesay Museum, which housed a variety of Victorian paintings, sculptures and the like, rather like the Russell Cotes Museum. It also displayed the world's largest collection of typewriters. Don't worry, it's gone now.
The next property down the hill was Kildare, built in 1870. It too was furnished apartments until it became the Kildare Hotel in the 1940's.
Finally, the last of the three was Lynwood, built in 1871. It started out as furnished apartments, became a boarding house in the 1920s and changed it's name to Oversands. It reverted back to Lynwood, a boarding house, before becoming the Lynwood Hotel in the 40s.
All three were demolished in 1971.
Up ahead is the rear of the Waterfront, known locally as the Imax, even after the Imax cinema itself closed. It was opened in 1999 and has had a controversial history. It has been described as ugly and oversized, and an operating failure. The flagship tenant, the Sheridan Imax Cinema, opened in 2002, a couple of years behind schedule, and closed suddenly, for good, in 2005.
Locally it has attracted much criticism, which has also bought it to the attention of the national media.
In 2010 Bournemouth Council purchased the building for a reported £4.5 million, and further sums to buy out the remaining tenants.. It plans to lower the height of the building and to find new tenants. The building, and the Council's involvement, continues to attract a lot of attention, but leaving personal views aside, we can but wish the venture well.. This one looks like it will run and run.
Briefly, The Waterfront stands on the site first occupied by the original town baths [ 1839 - 1864 ].
Sydenham's and the replacement baths stood from 1865 until 1934, with Marlborough House, later Seabourne House standing alongside from 1867 until 1934. The Pier Approach Baths opened in 1937, closed in 1984 and were demolished in 1986.
On the right of the picture is the Bath Rd North car park. Running down this side of the road starting on the immediate right was Sea Villa, built in 1855 as furnished apartments and later a private residence, before becoming the Bournemouth Corporation Staff Hostel in the late 1940s. It was demolished in 1962.
Next along was Seagrove House built in the 1855 as furnished apartments. It was listed as a dentist's from the early 20th century until the mid 1940s when it too became the Bournemouth Corporation Staff Hostel. It was demolished in 1962.
The Bath Rd North car park is earmarked for redevelopment as part of the major £59 million refurbishment of the Pavilion. Initially a casino was planned for the site, however, this has now changed to a cinema / restaurant complex called Pavilion Gardens.
Several key development sites within the town centre are currently being used as car parks, including the former bus station and Winter Gardens sites in Exeter Rd. The council have also sold off, or are keen to sell off, a number of other town centre car parks to developers. There is the Town Centre Master Vision plan that has been put together over several years with the aim of drawing up a cohesive development plan for the town centre that will see the Council work together with a preffered developer to unite planning and development in the area. The aim is to improve Bournemouth town centre which has been seen to suffer from a lack of a focused vision. Unfortunately the credit crunch / recession has undoubtedly had an effect on putting the plans into practice.
The third property down was Sea View built in 1850. In it's time it was a private residence, apartments, and a boarding house. In the 1920s it changed its name to Elcombe Hall, a boarding house / private hotel. It was demolished in 1929 and the Elliott Bros [ Royal Blue ] Motor Coach Station and Garage opened on the site in1930. Hants and Dorset buses took it over in 1936. The Corner House Cafe traded from the premises in the 30s and it ended life as the replacement Rothesay Museum / British Typewriter Museum after it's previous home, the former Rothesay Hotel across the road, was demolished in 1971. The museum closed for good when it's new home was knocked down in 1985.
Staying on the right, as Bath Rd bends to meet up with the flyover built in 1972, stood another detached property, Tachbrook. The site is now part of the Pavilion car park and was originally a garden next to the Belle Vue Hotel. Tachbrook was built in the 1885 as furnished apartments. After WW1 it became a disabled soldiers toy workshop and by the 1920s it was the District Food Office before ending life as various beach related offices. It was demolished in 1925 when work on the Pavilion began..
Finally, at the foot of the hill on the right, facing Pier Approach was the Belle Vue Boarding House / Hotel [ 1839 - 1928 ] .
I try, when possible, to distinguish between a property being furnished apartments, guest houses, boarding houses and hotels. However this is an inexact science as one property may be listed as furnished apartments in one listing, whilst being listed simultaniously in another publication as a boarding house. Some even get listed as both within the same directory. Terms such as apartments, furnished apartments, boarding house, en pension, private hotel and hotel are based on the theme of letting rooms to paying guests, with each being subtly different. Whilst i shall endeavour to continue to distinguish between them, maybe i should apply the rule that, if it looks like a hotel and it smells like a hotel, then it's a hotel.

Motorbikes | Motorcycles | Scooters | Tricycles - All Brands
There are approximately 75,000 - 82,000 (ish) Licenced | Registered motorcycles, scooters and tricycles in Hong Kong, it never really changes much and dealers keep large stocks of popular models for immediate delivery due to heavy demand - The Transport Department classifies motorcycles and scooters as the same type of vehicle, personally I prefer the term motorbikes rather than motorcycles .....and yes, Hong Konger‛s love fast bikes.
There is nothing at all unusual about the popularity of motorcycles in Hong Kong, big powerful bikes are a lot more popular than the entry level 125cc and 250cc bikes simply because here you can get a motorcycle from all the major brands that do 190mph + and 0 - 60mph in 2.8 seconds, fast enough to outperform most supercars and even hypercars in Hong Kong and at a fraction of the price of a typical supercar, it is an easy sale. Scooters, well they are popular for food delivery companies!
There are over 125 brands of motorcycles, scooters and trikes for sale in Hong Kong
Motorbikes - the top 7 selling brands of motorbikes as far as I can determine in Hong Kong are as follows
Honda ✚ Yamaha ✚ Suzuki ✚ Kawasaki ✚ Ducati ✚ Harley Davidson ✚ BMW
Scooters - the top 5 selling brands of scooters as far as I can determine in Hong Kong are as follows :
Kymco ✚ Sym ✚ Piaggio ✚ San Yang ✚ Vespa
Tricycles - the top 5 selling brands of tricycles | trikes as far as I can determine in Hong Kong are as follows :
Adiva ✚ BRP ✚ Gilera ✚ Paiggio ✚ Harley Davidson
All the numerous biker clubs are out in force on Sunday‛s when weather permits! It is not unusual to see 50+ big bikes in formation on country roads on Hong Kong Island and the New Territories

Nothing you see here is real, even though the conversion or the presented background story might be based on historical facts. BEWARE!
Some background:
As the Egyptian border was threatened by an Italian and German invasion during the Second World War, the Royal Air Force established more airfields in Egypt. The Royal Egyptian Air Force was sometimes treated as a part of the Royal Air Force, at other times a strict policy of neutrality was followed as Egypt maintained its official neutrality until very late in the war. As a result, few additional aircraft were supplied by Britain, however the arm did receive its first modern fighters, Hawker Hurricanes and a small number of Curtiss P-40 Tomahawks. In the immediate post-war period, cheap war surplus aircraft, including a large number of Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXs were acquired.
Following the British withdrawal from the British Protectorate of Palestine and the establishment of the State of Israel on 14 May 1948, Egyptian forces crossed into Palestine as part of a wider Arab League military coalition in support of the Palestinians against the Israelis. During 1948–1949, Egypt received 62 refurbished Macchi C.205V Veltro (Italian: Greyhound) fighters. The C.205 was an Italian World War II fighter aircraft built by the Aeronautica Macchi. Along with the Reggiane Re.2005 and Fiat G.55, the Macchi C.205 was one of the three "Serie 5" Italian fighters built around the powerful German Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine.
The C.205 Veltro was a refinement of the earlier C.202 Folgore. With a top speed of some 640 km/h (400 mph) and equipped with a pair of 20 mm cannon as well as two 12.7 mm Breda machine guns, the Macchi C.205 had been highly respected by Allied and Axis pilots alike. Widely regarded as one of the best Italian aircraft of World War II, it proved to be extremely effective, destroying a large number of Allied bombers, and it proved capable of meeting fighters such as the North American P-51D Mustang on equal terms.
For the Egyptian order, eight C.205 and 16 C.202 were upgraded to C.205 standard in May 1948. In February 1949, three brand new and 15 ex-C.202, and in May another ten C.205 and C.202 each were brought to the Egyptian C.205 standard. This last contract was not finalized, though: Israeli secret services reacted with a bombing in Italy, which at the time was supplying both Israel and the Arab states, which, among others, destroyed Macchi facilities and damaged Egyptian C.205s still on order.
Only 15 completed Macchis were delivered to Egypt before the end of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, seeing brief combat against the Israeli Air Force. The new Veltros were fully equipped, while the Folgore conversions were armed with only two 12.7 mm Breda machine guns. They were the lightest series of the entire production, and consequently had the best performance, but were seriously under-armed. Some Veltros, equipped with underwing bomb racks were used in ground-attack sorties against Israeli targets.
This left the Egyptian air force with a lack of capable fighters, so that Egypt ordered nineteen additional Fiat G.55 fighters from Italian surplus stocks and searched for ways to remedy the situation, since the relations with Great Britain had severely suffered under the Arab-Israeli War. This led to the plan to build and develop aircraft independently and just based on national resources, and eventually to the Helwan HA-100, Egypt’s first indigenous combat aircraft – even though it was rather a thorough upgrade program than a complete new construction.
Opened in late 1950 to manufacture airplanes, the Helwan Aircraft Factory, located in the South of Cairo, took on the challenge to create a domestic, improved fighter from existing C.205 and C.202 airframes in Egyptian service and its Fiat engines still available from Italy. The resulting Helwan HA-100 retained most of the forward fuselage structure of the C.205 with the original engine mounts, as well as the wings, but measures were taken to improve aerodynamics and combat value. One of these was the introduction of a new (yet framed) bubble canopy, which afforded the pilot with a much better all-round field of view and also improved the forward view while taxiing. This modification necessitated a lowered spine section, and wind tunnel tests suggested a deteriorated longitudinal stability, so that the tail section was completely redesigned. The fin was considerably enlarged and now had a square outline, while the stabilizers were raised into an almost cruciform tail configuration and also enlarged to improve the aircraft’s responsiveness to directional changes. The wings were clipped to improve handling and roll characteristics at low to medium altitudes, where most dogfights in the Arab-Israeli War had taken place.
The HA-100 retained the license-built Daimler Bent DB 605 from Italy, but to adapt this Fiat Tifone engine to the typical desert climate in Egypt with higher ambient temperatures and constant sand dust in the air, the HA-100 received an indigenous dust filter, a more effective (and larger) ventral radiator and a bigger, single oil cooler that replaced the C.205’s small drum coolers under the engine, which were very vulnerable, esp. to ground fire from light caliber weapons. To gain space in the fuselage under the cockpit for new fuel tank, both radiator and oil cooler were re-located to positions under the inner wings, similar in layout to early Supermarine Spitfire Marks.
While the HA-100 left the drawing boards and an initial converted C.205 went through trials, relations with Britain had been restored and the official state of war with Israel ensured that arms purchases continued. This gave the REAF an unexpected technological push forward: In late 1949, Egypt already received its first jet fighter, the British Gloster Meteor F4, and shortly after some de Havilland Vampire FB5s, which rendered the HA-100 obsolete. Nevertheless, the project was kept alive to strengthen Egypt’s nascent aircraft industry, but the type was only met with lukewarm enthusiasm.
The first HA-100 re-builds were delivered to 2 Sqn Royal Egyptian Air Force at Edku (East of Alexandria) in mid-1951, painted in a camouflage scheme of Dark Earth and Middle Stone with Azure Blue undersides, using leftover RAF material from WWII. Later, REAF 1 Sqn at Almaza near Cairo received HA-100s, too. Eventually, around forty HA-100s were built for the REAF until 1952. The only export customer for the HA-100 was Syria: sixteen machines, rejected by the REAF, were delivered in early 1952, where they served alongside former RAF Spitfire F.Mk.22s.
The REAF HA-100s only had a short career, but they eventually faced frontline duties and fired in anger. This also marked their last deployments, which occurred during the early stages of the Suez Crisis in 1956.
Only about 15 HA-100s of REAF No. 2 Squadron were still in flying condition due to quickly worsening engine spares shortages, and the aircraft had, in the meantime, been hardwired to carry up to four “Sakr” unguided 122mm rockets on the underwing hardpoints. Due to their agility at low altitude, the HA-100s were primarily used for ground attacks and low-level reconnaissance duties. On their missions the aircraft still performed well, but at that time, all Egyptian aircraft had been stripped off of their camouflage and were operated in a bare metal finish – a poor decision, since the glinting airframes were highly visible both in the air and on the ground. Consequently, the vintage propeller aircraft became easy targets, resulting high losses, and the HA-100s were grounded. They were officially retired by April 1957, after the end of the Suez conflict, and scrapped.

The kit and its assembly:
This oddity was spawned from curiosity – when read about the lightweight Helwan HA-300 fighter from the early Sixties, I wondered when and how the Egyptian aircraft industry had started? I was even more curious because I had already attributed a what-if model, the purely fictional (and later) HA-410 fighter bomber, to Egyptian engineering. So, I researched Helwan’s origins, checked the time frame of its establishment and eventually came across the REAF’s post-WWII C.205 Veltros. What if there had been an indigenous update program…?
Consequently, this conversion’s basis is a C.205V kit from Delta 2. This kit is based upon a unique mold, quite similar to the later Italeri kit, but it is different and has some curious solutions. For instance, the landing gear struts are mounted into the wings with L-shaped attachment pegs – as if the landing gear is supposed to be retractable. Odd, but very stable. Another weird solution: the wing gun barrels are attached to the wings together with massive plastic wedges that fit into respective openings. Another quite rigid construction, even though it calls for trimming and PSR. Beyond these quirks, the kit is quite nice. It comes with a convincing mix of recessed panel lines and raised rivet heads. Some parts are a bit soft in shape, though, e. g. the cowling fairings, but overall I am positively surprised.
To change the aircraft’s look I did some conversions, though. The most obvious change is the new tail section, which was transplanted wholesale from a KP Yak-23 and had the C.205’s tail wheel attachment section transplanted from the Delta 2 kit. Originally, I wanted to move the whole cockpit forward, but then just replaced canopy and spine section with a clear part from a Hobby Boss MiG-15 and putty. Other, rather cosmetic changes include clipped wing tips to match the Yak-23’s square tail surfaces shape, and the C.205’s small elliptic stabilizers were replaced with tailored, slightly bigger parts from the scrap box. A bigger/deeper radiator and a different oil cooler replaced the original parts, and I placed them under the inner wings behind the landing gear wells. Both donors come from Spitfires, even though from different kits (IIRC, the oil cooler from an AZ Models Mk. V kit and the radiator from a FROG Mk. XIV). The flaps were lowered, too, because this detail was easy to realize with this kit.
Painting and markings:
The HA-100 received a contemporary camouflage, the RAF Tropical Paint Scheme consisting of Dark Earth and Middle Stone with Azure Blue undersides. The pattern was adapted from RAF Spitfires, and Modelmaster (2052 and 2054) and Humbrol (157) enamels were used, with a light overall black ink washing and some post panel shading. Being a former Italian aircraft, I painted the cockpit in a typical, Italian tone, a very light grayish green called “Verde Anticorrosione“, which was used during WWII on many interior surfaces – I used a mix of Revell 59 with some 45. The landing gear and the respective wells became aluminum (Humbrol 56), though.
One challenge became the characteristic black-and-white REAF ID bands on the wings. These were improvised with generic decal material from TL-Modellbau: on a 1 cm wide black band I simply added two white 2.5 mm stripes, for a very good result. Most other markings belong to an early REAF MiG-15, taken from a Microscale omnibus sheet for various MiG fighters. This provided the green-trimmed white fuselage band, the roundels and the fin flash, and a white spinner completed the REAF ID markings. Unfortunately the decals turned out to be brittle (ESCI-esque...) and disintegrated upon the first attempt to apply them, so I tried to save them with Microsol Decal Film, and this actually worked like a charm, even though the resurrected decals did not adhere well to the model's surface. The REAF 2 Squadron emblem comes from a vintage PrintScale Hawker Hurricane sheet, the white code letter on the fuselage came from an Xtradecal RAF codes sheet, and the black Arabic serials came from a Begemot sheet for MiG-29s.
The kit received some soot stains around the exhaust ports and the gun muzzles and was finally sealed with matt acrylic varnish (Italeri).
Even though it’s just a modded Macchi C.205, the result looks …different. From certain angles the aircraft reminds a lot of a P-51D Mustang, like one of the lightweight prototypes? The Egyptian markings add a confusing touch, though, and while the bodywork is not perfect, I am happy with the result. The Yak-23 tail fits perfectly, and with the narrow wings the HA-100 also reminds a bit of the two-engine Westland Whirlwind?

Once the base was set up on Rykers Island, Fury sent out a number of squads to investigate the immediate area. I took my squad across to the mainland and as we entered four freedoms plaza I noticed something was up.
We parked up the truck and headed into the plaza on foot. Up on a stage which appeared to have been put up for a speech, stood Wolverine glaring at a rather scared looking Senator Kelly. There were signs of conflict and by the way the stages framework was bent I figured Magneto had been here.
Senator Kelly ran off down a side street as I ordered my squad to draw arms.
"Logan" I shouted well aware of what his allimantium infused body could do "Come quietly or we will employ deadly force"
The squad started to move round to flank him, just as I had trained them.
"Tell Fury he can stop poking his nose in my business" Logan called back from the stage "and quietly isn't my style"
Logan jumped from the stage bearing his claws as I gave the order to open fire. He dodged 50% of the bullets, the other 50% did little damage to his constantly healing body.
"Get the rocket launcher!" I shouted as two of my guys were cut down by Wolverine. lieutenant Jenkins ran up to me wielding the weapon which he had collected from the truck.
"Stand back" I shouted holding the rocket launcher up to my shoulder.
I pulled the trigger and the rocket flew from the end, whizzing through the air towards its target. Logan turned to be speared by the tip off the rocket. He flew a few meters and then the rocket exploded, propelling him through the double doors of the fantastic four HQ.
I dropped the rocket launcher and commanded the squad to follow me into the building. Inside, Wolverine had flown into the back wall of the lobby and Roberta, the teams robotic receptionist cowered at her desk. on the floor lay what was left of Logan, a fully metal skeleton clad in the burnt remains of his costume, but it wouldn't be long before the healing started. His flesh started to creep across his bones as his muscles and organs rebuilt themselves, until his skin formed around him and Logan's eyes snapped open. Getting up drunkenly he looked directly at me "Did you... just shoot me with a rocket launcher?"
He then unsheathed his claws and came to full alert. Jumping over the desk Wolverine skewered one of the few men I had left and then he turned to me. His eyes rolled into his skull as a tranquilizer dart landed right between his eyes. I stood there breathing heavily, as I lowered my gun, unsure as to what just happened, I then turned to see someones foot briskly disappear from the window sill behind me. I ran to the window and looked out down the street but no one was to be seen. "Right, get him cuffed and call in clean up."
Maria Hill, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, moves from #63 Rykers Island to attack #57 Four Freedoms Plaza, placing Wolverine in peril.

I now understand the following..
Cirrus uncinus is a type of cirrus cloud. The name cirrus uncinus is derived from Latin, meaning "curly hooks". Also known as mares' tails, these clouds are generally sparse in the sky, and very thin.
The clouds occur at very high altitudes, at a temperature of about Minus 40-50 Celsius. They are generally seen when a warm or occluded front is approaching. They are very high in the troposphere, and generally mean that precipitation, usually rain, is approaching.
