While out mowing the leaves today(I have a mulching mower which makes fall leaves a great deal easier than blowing or raking and bagging) I was struck at the variety of textures and colors and lines...so I stopped and went and got the camera and did a few portraits.

Winter Games next month. Ski Jumping, something I did as a youngster, on backyard hills, the park in our backyard and the slalom hills. Never did go off the biggies. Couple of brothers did though, one was real good, almost made it to the Olympics. Still one of my favorite winter sports.

I followed the procedure, first, as outlined here: brilliantdays.com/archives/2005/10/how_to_create_a.php ,

Maverick? Maybe that's the poor man's Marlboro. But, perhaps they need to up the price and aim for McCain fans. ("Be like your presidential candidate, be a maverick!") Just guessing.

And, just messing around here -- what the heck, it's only pixels.

I did this for the school paper. I was pretty happy with the outcome :)

This is another variation on a photo taken in my Mom's garden late Saturday afternoon, Oct 28, 2006. Various layer and layer blending modes were used to explore a few other treatments, then exported as a new document, helping keep file size down on the original layered photoshop file.

"If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing."

Wonder what will happen to critics then. :))

There is a place in New Mexico, above Taos where Georgia o'Keefe, and her pals lived together. There is this one tree with a bench about 15 feet in front of it. Supposedly if one lays down on that bench and looks up at the tree one will be seeing the exact compostion that she saw and had in her mind when she painted her tree artwork.

I treated it differently as I started with a photograph, and then used both Photoshop CS2 and Painter IX on it to arrive at my final work. One needs to look at hte larger sized image to fully see what I saw/did!

Pimped Picture 55b Removed colour cast from image then removed background and smoothed out the cut edges around the body to blend with the background so cut out visable then some burning in work to bring out shadow detail on the body then softened skin and cleaned up complexion also a little sharpening work done on the eyes and the stockings also enhanced body shape around the legs and arms to give a smoother more curvy appearance then hand drawn new background with floor area creating perspective to give a solid floor then added body shadows and additional lighting detail to give body the illusion of 3 dimensional belonging then added fill in flash to pull the eye into the models face then added several background marquee's to give shadow and depth to the image finally converted over to black and white with added film grain to replicate ilford 400 film. This was done as part of flickr group Pimp My Pixels.

I couldn't help myself. It was either this or a cyclops. I like this one better. Cyclops is played out...ofcourse so is the three eyes....but this is better.

8x10 analog print on archival paper. Color darkroom experiment with stacked negatives - black and white imagery with color texture. For a "before and after" experience, the pure b&W version of this is in my photostream.

As an exception to my normal rules of Flickr uploads, this photo is very much edited. And in a way that has been done a million times before. I still like it and thus wanted to share it with you.

I took it with the 70-300 from the observation deck of Empire State Building. I've only edited color, contrast and brightness.

Rain drops on a Juniper. I was making a contrast mask for the color original of this image, when I got to the invert stage I thought I liked it better! Further tweaks applied to the inverted layer and discarded the original layer.
