Initiated in Photoshop, but mainly freehand image manipulation. :D

Blog I Drawings I Website I Facebook

Part of an ongoing experiment with image manipulation: The images are the result of a 2 stage process. First, a photo is taken of a moving subject. What results is a blurred image, the distortion magnified by the grain and contrast achieved by overdevelopment of the film in the darkroom. Already the face or body has been transformed by the simple act of movement. Then in the second stage, the photo is printed. Sometimes thick glossy varnish is applied across the whole surface of the image, or alternatively, the photo is simply printed onto glossy paper. This is when more magic happens. Shining light directly onto the surface of the paper, the image is transformed again. This time the transforming agent is light. The surface of the photograph interacts with what is contained within the image. A final photo is taken.

My beloved Aunt Dorothy, my father's sister. So like me in so many ways, including losing the eldest of her four children. She died about ten years ago, but I feel her spirit in me so strongly. Even so, I miss her.

She was the strongest woman I ever met. She was a 2 time breast cancer survivor. Yay!

This was manipulated from a large painting hanging in bad light at my father's house. She was about 20 when she sat for it.

This is Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaievich Romanov, heir to the Russian empire, in 1909 at the age of 4 or 5. His cap bears the name of the штандарт (Standard), the Russian Imperial Yacht. He will be assassinated ten years later, a victim of the Bolshevik revolution.

St Mark's Square, Venice, as seen from the tower (Campanile). Circled the square.

This is the output photo for a 'Tiny Planets' experiment (ipad photo spiral tool), made from the photo 'St Mark's Square, Venice.' (Also uploaded)

Hope you like it - it's an odd image manipulation, easy to use and yet more difficult to explain...

...taking the long journey through roiling waters.

My special dedication to Magda & Dan at the beginning of their journey, in calm and beautiful waters.

Bouquet on a Bench -- This was a real bench in front of a hedge of grapevines. Every flower in the vase was one I grew; and I was very proud of all of them. This is what they call a Polaroid Manipulation or Polaroid Impressionistic Print or Polaroid Alteration. Though it says 2003 on the picture, that is just when I was first learning how to put my initials on my photos. I actually took this photo around the early 1990s. In the vase are Shasta Daisies, Hydrangeas, Daffodils, Gladiolas and I'm not sure but maybe a Dahlia, one rose and one iris.

For the Small Town America group pool, I made this photo/art in Brownsville, Linn County, Oregon USA, and at the time, in the 1990s, the population was around 1,258 or so.

This was taken approximately 1973 with a Kodak Instamatic. I gave it some color enhancement on ArcSoft 5 program and some oil technique1 on the same program. This is the same boy who was in the mailbox that so many of you like a lot. I'm going to spell it Dalmation, even though it is incorrect; so the search engines might find it. Many people spell it incorrectly when they search. They are such remarkable looking dogs.

"S" is for Son & Salty"

A little aside added February 1, 2007 is that the baby boy here, my son, is now the uncle of Anna Leigh, that you see so much of if you come to my site very often. Anna Leigh and one of her cats, Muffin, are the icon picture for the group "Children 'n Pets". It is the picture where she decided to gnaw on Muffin's paw.

I donated some new toys to the Mario Pastega House in Corvallis, Oregon, and therefore I got invited to the open house. They were for the Children's Room in a home that is similar to a Ronald McDonald House, (but I think more individual and nicer). I have to admit I have never been to a Ronald McDonald House, but I have a feeling the Mario House is pretty special. This was one of several cute fairies on the wall of the childrens' playroom. I wasn't the only donor by a long shot; so these were something I hadn't seen before. I'm thinking about changing my icon to her, except that so many people already know me by the Lorikeet bird's head. Whatcha think? Should I just keep what I have?

"F" is for Fairy

My 2 different P&S Cameras on the fireworks setting. SOOC except I had to rotate it as it records upside down. Curious.

The one below is SOOC

Its amazing to me how they record the same subject so differently.

Anyway this is the fiber optic tree in my bathroom.

Porsche 977 Turbo. Worked on as part of Fix My Pic. background removed then the body work cleaned up to remove dirt and grime windows tinted out then a lot of work dodging and burning and put light layers over the body work to bring out the reflections and shadow detail then finally selected the brake callipers and turned the rest of the image to black and white then a little more work done to smooth the light and shadow blending finally a slight crop added to create a brochure style car shot.

Figure based on a

Lalique glass statue.

We had been at a medieval tournament today but due to bad places on the stand it was barly possible to make some good shots. But nothing Photoshop can not fix, the motion blure was added in the post processing.

I downloaded the original of this ages ago, I believe from New England SketchBook's Bygones collection, but when I went back to link to it I couldn't find it. It is a great photo in its original black and white form, full of interest and movement. I think the colors amplify this, and give it a sense of depth as well. I have no idea what spooked the horse. (The colors are fanciful, not historically accurate.)

Does it look like I am a giant, or does it look like the car is a miniature (or both or none of the above) ?

Irgendwo muß der Fisch doch sein. The fish has to be somewhere around here ... or over there ???
