Class 115 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M51875 is the lead vehicle of a four car set standing in the bay platform at Aylesbury circa 1974.
Unit History
Forty one class 115 high density suburban four car sets were ordered from Derby works and entered traffic in 1960. They were long framed units and the motor vehicles were fitted with the powerful Leyland Albion engines. The majority of the class (including M51875) were allocated to Marylebone, however six units were allocated to Allerton for Liverpool suburban duties. The class 115 fleet at Marylebone operated until displaced by class 165 units around 1991 when the fleet was generally withdrawn with M51875 being withdrawn in August 1992 and broken up in January 1995.

I'm still scanning old negatives, and am now caught up to February 1993. That was when my friend, Delf, asked me to take some b&w pictures of him for publicity. I shot two or three rolls of various film types but the best shots were, to my mind on the slower film, like this Ilford FP4. I don't remember whether he used this one; it's not especially sharp. But today, as I scan these negatives and see them anew, it is my favourite.
