1 Hours 30 Minutes in Rodinal 50:1, 1 minute agitation to start and then 20 seconds of really gentle inversions every 30mins
The procession of monks starts about 5:30am so a high ISO is required. Also many tourists line the streets a lot of expensive cameras and F2.0 lenses.
Me and my Girlfriend went camping last week near Trearddur Bay in Anglesey for a few days. i'd hoped we'd have a clear night to take photos of the milkyway and we weren't disappointed! nothing better than just lying there looking up at the skies once the cameras were set up to just snap away. We were extra lucky due to the Perseids meteor showeer peaking that night, i've never seen so many shooting stars! we counted 10 in 1 minute at one point! We lied there for nearly 2hrs then called it a night.
Taking photos of the Milky way is a challenge i love and something i'm yet to master! i'm now pretty good at knowing where abouts it will be and the best time of year to view it. but the best locations arent easy to get to when you dont drive. also getting the camera settings right is a learning curve.
Then there is the Weather/Moon Cycles!
Looking beyond that though and i know i said it earlier, it was just nice to lie down and look up at the stars with my own eyes, editing a photo pales into insignificance compared to experiencing something.
The bees, bugs and butterflies clearly know that the flower season is soon to end. The bumble bees are everywhere, gathering as fast as they can.

I would have loved to have heard it.

I was trying (unsuccessfully) to capture a goldcrest, when this equally small guy showed up in the undergrowth. It was quite dark so I had to shoot at ISO 3200.

So I figured that I get the jump on posting a new picture to bring in the New Year with this shot that I took a few weeks ago during the Geminid meteor shower.
Looking back at it, 2012 was a pretty good year. I accomplished a lot and learned a whole lot. I’m hoping that in 2013 I can keep the ball rolling and continue on my path. No New Years Resolutions for 2013, but I would like to live life a little bit more, love a bit more and ignore mean people a bit more.
And with that I want to wish you all a great start to the New Year!
About the Photo:
This was probably one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long while. The Geminid meteor shower put on quite a show that night. My friend and I were able to spot over one hundred and fifty that night! This photo is made up of about four different photos, one for the house on the lake, and three for the meteors that I was able to capture. I probably could have captured more, but I opted to go with a longer exposure instead of a shorter one. If you look closely you can see the Milky Way very faintly in the photo.
