I shot this at the gas station while I was pumping gas. This was exposure 37 on my Yashica. I walked back to my car listening to the auto rewind and then accidentally left the roll in my car for a couple days in the heat. Expired TMAX P3200. Shot at box speed.
Taken at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon, US.
Found in West Africa, this ten-foot crocodile prefers shaded areas along river banks in dense tropical forests.
"Slender-snouts" have a unique fishing technique. While submerged, it bends its long flat tail toward shore creating a dam. When fish swim near its "dam", they become potential food. Whipping its narrow snout sideways through the water, the crocodile snares fish for dinner. Water birds and small mammals round out their menu.
The Oregon Zoo has amazing collection of animals...a visit is quite worthwhile.
Slowly and carefully restoring some of the wonderful old murals in Cologne cathedral. It was fascinating to watch him.

I got my settlement for my stolen 40D/24-105L lens and due to the deductable had to choose between the lens or a body. I went ahead and purchased the 50D after renting a body for two weeks. This is my first shot with it trying ISO 3200 inside with my 100-400 lens. I was very pleased with the in camera high ISO noise reduction. I did add noise reduction in DPP but all in all very little was done to this. Larger
James vents his frustration at me for not listening to his sound advice about focusing in the dark........sometimes I want to talk so much I need to remember the basics and just......listen.
I don't usually see Coots in the small creek here in the woods. Didn't notice this one until I was upon it...and then it did the classic running on water lift-off. Surprisingly it flew in front of me, rather than away. I got a series of shots...several of which would have been nice had they been in sharp focus. This one, though, was, and it isn't too bad.
We have Coots most of the year, but I've never seen any Coot younglings.

The bane of my existence...elusive Belted Kingfisher in high speed flight. Virtually impossible for me to get a good flight shot.
This was shot at long distance. I did what I could to salvage the shot in processing, but without a long prime lens, exposures at this distance are problematic. And as you can see, though it was shot in the trees in the dark of the woods, the background is very bright. Here's what I could get out of the shot.

The delicate little sand tufa formations remind me of the AT-AT Walkers from Star Wars. On the other hand, it sorta looks like the one on the left is the Millenium Falcon. What does your imagination conjure up here? This was an outing of the StarCircleAcademy. Can't wait to see what the students got here. This image is a two-image vertorama using light painting.

This wonderful organ is in the St. Petri cathedral in Bremen. It was originally built in 1939 and was designed expressly for playing baroque music (hence the name). The original organ was replaced in 1966, and it has remained unchanged since. I was lucky enough to hear this wonderful instrument being played, a remarkable experience,

This is the chapter house (Kapitelsaal) of the monastery Kloster Eberbach in Germany. Originally built before 1186, it was rebuilt with the gothic star-vaulted roof and the central supporting pillar around 1350, and the vines were painted on the ceiling around 1500.
