On the shores of the Serpentine in Hyde Park, overlooking the lake and the Diana Memorial Fountain, stands the beautiful sculpture, Isis.

Inspired by the Egyptian goddess of nature, Isis was created by British sculptor Simon Gudgeon and donated by Halcyon Gallery as the figurehead of an ambitious appeal to raise £2.2 million towards the Isis Education Centre.

Isis enchants visitors of all ages. Around her base, 1,000 plaques, arranged in the Fibonacci curves, have been personally dedicated. Each and every one has helped raise vital funds towards the Isis Education Centre, an exciting facility where young people can learn about the natural world in the middle of the city.

Temple of Isis Grand Canyon National Park

I took this at our local wildlife sanctuary named Crocworld.

Isis was an amazing creature, welcoming visitors to the centre with her iconic call.

She was found on the side of the road in August 1987 with an injured wing and transported to CROW for care. Isis was then moved to Crocworld as she could not fly and therefore not able to be released back into the wild.

At 35, she was the second oldest African fish eagle to be kept in a sanctuary, the oldest is 43 yrs old in Frankfurt, Germany.

We will miss that penetrating stare, your interactions with us and that amazing haunting call, so iconic of the African wild.

Fly high,

fly free beautiful soul,

you will always be in our hearts.

My beautiful cockatiel with bad temper.

Very sweet, always ready to put his head in my hand and receive a lot of fondness ... but also ready to give me a nip in the next instant.

Isis Aphrodite

2nd Century AD

Terracotta,white engobe,paint

Isis-Aphrodite is a form of the great goddess of Isis that emphasizes the fertility aspects associated with Aphrodite. She was concerned with marriage and childbirth and, following very ancient pharaonic prototypes, also with childbirth.Elaborate accessories, including an exaggerated Cajaflez calathos (the crown of Egyptian Greco-Roman divinities) emblazoned with a tiny disk and horns of Isis, heightened the effect of her nudity.

Figures depicting this goddess are found on both domestic and funerary contexts.Popular already to the third and second century B.C.,they continued to be made on Roman times.Dating technologies places this piece in the Roman Period, probably around AD 150,and the long narrow face and rather dry expression do not contradict such a date.

The goddesses Isis and Nephthys face each other, whilst between them stands the Djed column above the two horns of the cow and the two plumes of Amun.

The New Isis Theatre is a great old theatre, opened as the Isis Theatre in the 1930’s. Located in the Historic Stockyards district in Fort Worth, it closed in 1988 and is for sale.

After the death of my beloved donkey Cleopatra Isis had to have a new companion. This is very important for donkeys, because they should not live alone.

Today their new companion Amadisli has arrived .. ;)))

Después de la muerte de mi amado burro Cleopatra Isis tenía que tener un nuevo compañero. Esto es muy importante para un burro, porque no deben vivir solo.
