I am not a mother, I am not a grandmom, but I celebrate such as if I am. My sweet daughter (the mom) asked me to pose with her daughter before attending a dinner celebrating mother's day with my mother, husband, daughter and grandchild. Isis was the most powerful magician in the Egyptian pantheon and was invoked in spells for healing and protection. She famously used her magic to restore Osiris's body after it was dismembered. As the mother of Horus, she was a divine protector of the pharaoh and a model for all women. She was also seen as a protector of the unique and downtrodden in society.
Isis also the devoted wife of Osiris, who supported him and taught women domestic skills like weaving and baking. Her grief over Osiris's death was so great that her tears were believed to cause the annual flooding of the Nile. Her actions in piecing together Osiris's body became a model for mummification and funerary practices.
Worship: Her cult was popular throughout Egypt and the Greco-Roman world. Her image was eventually associated with the Virgin Mary in later Christian art.

Great mother Isis, the goddess of healing and magic, was crucial to ancient Egyptian religious beliefs. She is known today by her Greek name Isis; however, the ancient Egyptians called her Aset.
On the shores of the Serpentine in Hyde Park, overlooking the lake and the Diana Memorial Fountain, stands the beautiful sculpture, Isis.
Inspired by the Egyptian goddess of nature, Isis was created by British sculptor Simon Gudgeon and donated by Halcyon Gallery as the figurehead of an ambitious appeal to raise £2.2 million towards the Isis Education Centre.
Isis enchants visitors of all ages. Around her base, 1,000 plaques, arranged in the Fibonacci curves, have been personally dedicated. Each and every one has helped raise vital funds towards the Isis Education Centre, an exciting facility where young people can learn about the natural world in the middle of the city.
