I love the symbolism of the "open book" of the tax authority building in Amsterdam. This was taken in 2002, now it's surrounded by other buildings.
Students from University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu and from other schools including Kapiʻolani Community College, UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, Leeward Community College, and Brigham Young University-Hawai’i, participated in a day-long seminar conducted by IRS Criminal Investigation called “Citizen Academy.”
Washington DC, June 19, 2013. On the west lawn of the US Capitol various Tea Party groups and their supporters staged an unexpectedly sizable rally. The main focus of the event was alleged IRS "harassment" and denial of the tax exempt status of Tea Party affiliated organizations. Other issues raised by the demonstrators included illegal immigration, Bengazi, Obama's citizenship status, second amendment rights, gay marriage, violation of citizen's fourth amendment rights by various goverment agencies including the NSA and "liberal" media bias. The overwhelmingly white and mostly aged crowd numbered around 5,000 by my estimate. Speakers included numerous politicians, Tea Party group leaders and right wing radio pundits.
On hold with the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 minutes (just to be told what I already knew: yes the check will be late). And, oh yeah, 'we don't know when it's coming'!!!
