“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”

Fascination of Inner Courtyards
Inner courtyards hold a special fascination because they often serve as hidden, intimate retreats amid the urban landscape. They offer:
Authenticity and History:
Many courtyards have evolved organically over time and bear the traces of bygone eras in their walls, cobblestones, and plantings.
A Meeting of Nature and Architecture:
The blend of old building fabric with verdant elements creates an engaging contrast that is visually appealing and helps to soften the cityscape.
Inner courtyards often possess a unique allure, as they represent secret oases within the urban environment. Beyond their calm and intimacy, they frequently reveal unexpected architectural details and natural features that transform our perception of the everyday.
Pietà
The Pietà is more than a biblical motif: it is a window that grants us entry into the interplay of suffering and consolation, death and resurrection, transience and love. Its eternal silence speaks volumes, for it makes room for our own compassion and the quiet hope that never falters, even in the darkest hour.
Far removed from any specific religious creed, the Pietà today reaches out to those who grieve personal loss: the farewell to loved ones, the shattering of life’s plans, or even global catastrophes.

Just a small, intimate scene that I photographed until the ferryman came on board.

The Thermes district intended for women is smaller and more intimate compared to that of men. From a first room with a square plan, which was used as a waiting room, you pass into the apodyterium through a narrow vestibule. The apodyterium, with a vault decorated with stucco grooves, has seats and consoles for storing bath linen. The tepidarium also has seats and consoles and the mosaic floor bears geometric patterned designs. In this section intended for women there is no refrigerator. On the other hand, as in the men's section, the floor of the calidarium is suspended on very small pillars (suspensurae) which allow the circulation of hot air below, and there are also small openings made in the wall to let steam to escape.
