Old and broken pillions become a thing of interest for my camera. As i lean over a bridge to compose a shot, the once useful pier is little more than sticks in the mud. Their combined direction contributes to the notion of time and looking back on a different era. However, the interplay of colors, textures, and shapes make and engrossing tale of change.

I'm still after all these years in love with reflections of clouds and cliffs. There's something of a conversation about the interplay of image and reflection, that fascinates me. I'm lucky to have such wonderful mirrors available to me every day, irrespective of wind and weather, so always walk with cloudy shoes. Cloudy Shoes is a beautiful track by Damien Jurado. I may go and get my shoes nice and cloudy this afternoon.

The Void Remains - by Dirk DZIMIRSKY - 2016

Charcoal/acrylic on canvas

Dirk Dzimirsky is a German artist best known for his hyper realistic drawings depicting human beings in a dark mood, thus revealing the vulnerability and tragedy present in their condition. He utilizes the interplay of light and shadow combined with extreme detail to create a melancholy mood in his images. In translating photographs into drawings, he wishes to go beyond merely recreating a single instant in time and instead create a photographic snapshot representing the culmination of his life experiences with others, succinctly encapsulated in the subject’s gaze (comment from Pixelelco - reddit webpage)

This life is a journey from creation through redemption to salvation. Along the way, there is an engaging interplay between the things of this world and the things of the next, between the reality in via and that to come in patria, between historical commemoration and anamnetic aspiration.

-Simone Brosig, IN THE SECRET OF THE TRINITY”: EUCHARISTIC DEVOTION IN THE THIRTEENTH-CENTURY SOUTHERN LOW COUNTRIES, pg 4

The picture captured from a small boat navigating Lake Rosselot depicts a mesmerizing scene of stormy clouds in the sky. The clouds are dark and heavy, giving a sense of impending rainfall. They appear to be dancing, swirling and twisting above the landscape, creating an atmosphere of dynamic energy.

Beneath the dramatic sky, the view extends to the surrounding area, which is characterized by the lush and vibrant rainforest jungle. The jungle is enveloped in a veil of mist and fog, adding an ethereal touch to the scenery. The cold and damp environment enhances the mystical and mysterious ambiance of the rainforest.

Despite the stormy weather, the beauty of the scene shines through. The rainforest is teeming with life, showcasing a variety of verdant green hues. Towering trees, covered in moss and hanging vines, reach towards the heavens, creating a dense canopy overhead. The interplay of light and shadow adds depth and texture to the picture.

The formations of the rainforest, visible in the distance, exhibit an awe-inspiring beauty. The rolling hills and valleys are covered with dense vegetation, showcasing the intricate patterns and layers of the jungle. The picture conveys a sense of both grandeur and intimacy, as the vastness of the rainforest is juxtaposed with the intimate details of its flora and fauna.

Overall, the photograph captures the captivating juxtaposition of the stormy clouds and the serene rainforest. It presents a breathtaking fusion of nature's power and beauty, inviting viewers to appreciate the raw and untamed wonders of the Lake Rosselot area.

The Waiau River, also known as Waiau-uha, flows near Hanmer Springs and is renowned for its crystal-clear meltwaters. Originating in the Spencer Mountains, this river carves through rugged landscapes, narrow gorges, and tussock valleys, creating breathtaking scenery.

The Waiau-uha is deeply rooted in Māori lore—it's said to be a female river, mourning for her lover, the Waiau-toa (Clarence River). When she grieves, her tears melt the snow at her source, causing floods.

This river is a popular spot for rafting, offering thrilling rapids and pristine waters that reflect the towering mountains around it. Whether you're looking for adventure or simply want to admire its pure, clean beauty, the Waiau River is a stunning natural gem near Hanmer Springs.

Would you like to explore photography opportunities here? I imagine the interplay of light on the water could make for some spectacular shots! I think it did, see what you think?

Schönheit kann sich aus Vielfalt ergeben.

Alone maybe insignificant but together remarkable.

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),

oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

As I stood on the banks of the Douro river in Porto, with a glass of red wine on one hand an my camera on the other hand, I was mesmerized by the fabulous scene that unfolded before my eyes. The colorful facades of buildings lined the waterfront, creating a breathtaking panorama of vibrant hues that seemed to dance in harmony with the sparkling waters. It was a true feast for the senses, a tapestry of architectural beauty and bustling activity.

The buildings, standing tall and proud, showcased a stunning array of colors. Shades of red, yellow, blue, and green adorned each facade, creating a kaleidoscope of vibrant tones that brought the riverside to life. The architecture itself was a testament to the city's rich history and cultural heritage, with each building boasting unique characteristics and intricate details.

Amidst this backdrop, the river teemed with life. Barcas, traditional wooden boats, navigated the waters, ferrying excited tourists who were eager to explore Porto's enchanting charm. Laughter and animated conversations filled the air as the boats glided along the river, their cheerful presence adding to the lively atmosphere.

The buildings stood shoulder to shoulder, forming a picturesque cluster that exuded a sense of community and shared history. Their facades leaned slightly towards one another, as if whispering secrets and stories of days gone by. The narrow streets and alleys that weaved through the buildings invited exploration, promising hidden gems and delightful surprises at every turn.

The sunlight played a game of hide-and-seek, casting its warm glow upon the facades, accentuating their vibrant colors and casting gentle reflections on the rippling river. The interplay of light and shadow added depth and texture to the scene, enhancing the visual feast that unfolded before me.

As I took in this captivating panorama, I couldn't help but be in awe of the vibrant energy and charm that Porto emanated. The combination of the lively barcas, the multicolored facades, and the buzzing activity created a scene that was both dynamic and captivating. It was a testament to the city's vibrant spirit, its ability to embrace its rich history while embracing the excitement of the present.

In that moment, I felt lucky to have witnessed this fabulous scene, to have been immersed in the pulsating heart of Porto. It was a visual symphony that celebrated the beauty of architecture, the vibrancy of colors, and the joy of shared experiences. Porto had truly cast its spell on me, and I knew that the memories of this captivating scene would forever hold a special place in my heart.

A loose copy of Cezanne's masterpiece, "The Card Players". My version is in acrylics on canvas board. The original in the Musée d'Orsay, Paris is one of a series of five painted in the 1890s.

Although copying is said to be the lowest form of art, it teaches immense respect for the original artist. Cezanne had difficulties with figures, especially unclothed, yet he had a masterly grasp of expression and body language. We know who is in control of this game!

He models in his characteristic reds and greens. He textures individual planes with small whorls of colour. Depth is aided by subtle moves in colour temperature and value. Cezanne jerks reality with slightly quirky alterations of perspective. Edges glow, light and dark interplay. He could paint!

This is another (non-wobbled!) image from that delightfully photogenic place in Dorset - Sherborne Abbey.

I thought I would cook this in monochrome as it’s Thursday. It’s converted in Nik Silver Efex and lightly sepia toned with a bit of post denoising in Topaz AI DeNoise.

Although the composition is quite busy I was attracted to it by the interplay between all the shapes and lines. In a way, it’s a visual puzzle at least first until you work out what is going on. It was an interesting image to crop!

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the puzzle. Happy Donnerstagsmoncrom :)

Even if it's a well-worn motif, i love the interplay of lights and blacks.

"Beauty" is an installation by Olafur Eliasson.

In this early work, a spotlight shines obliquely through a curtain of fine mist. Since the experience of the visual effects generated by the interplay of water and light changes in response to visitors’ positions within the room, the artwork exists only in the coming together of eye and objects and is unique for each viewer.

If you zoom in you can see the edge of the glacier. Vatnajokull National Park was established in 2008 and is the largest national park in Western Europe, covering about 13,200 square kms in area. The interplay of a large glacier and volcanism has created many, greatly varying landscape features which make the area unique.

Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake in southern part of Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland. Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the glaciers. It is now about 8 km away from the ocean's edge and covers an area of about 18 km2. In 2009 it was reported to be the deepest lake in Iceland, at over 284 m, as glacial retreat extended its boundaries. The size of the lake has increased fourfold since the 1970s.

The lake can be seen from Route 1 between Höfn and Skaftafell. It appears as "a ghostly procession of luminous blue icebergs".

Jökulsárlón has been a setting for four Hollywood movies: A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Batman Begins, as well as the reality TV series The Amazing Race. In 1991, Iceland issued a postage stamp, with a face value of 26 kronur, depicting Jökulsárlón.

The tongue of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier is a major attraction for tourists.

The Jökulsárlón lake provides outstanding views of the ice cap, a vast dome of ice that rises to a height of 3,000 ft. It spills to the lagoon 12 mi away from the jagged glacier hill to the edge of the water line. The lake developed only about 60 years ago (1948 is mentioned), when the entire area was less than 100 ft of glacier, which was only 250 yd from the Atlantic Ocean, and 2 mi away from Vatnajökull. Vatnajökull was at the shore line of the ocean and dropped icebergs into the ocean. However, it started drifting inland rapidly every year, leaving deep gorges en route, which got filled with melted water and large chunks of ice. These icebergs gather at the mouth of the lake's shallow exit, melt down into smaller ice blocks, and roll out into the sea. In summer, icebergs melt and roll down the channel into the sea. The lake does not freeze in winter. Ice water and soil make a unique ecological phenomenon.[citation needed] Jökulsárlón Lake, the "glacier lake", is now reported to have doubled in size in the recent 15-year period. The huge blocks of ice that calve from the edge of Vatnajökull are about 30 m high, which fills the lagoon stocked with icebergs. Some icebergs appear naturally sculpted on account volcanic ash from ancient eruptions that partly covers them.

The icebergs that calve from the glacier edge move towards the river mouth and get entrenched at the bottom. The movement of the icebergs fluctuates with the tide currents, as well as being affected by wind. However, they start floating as icebergs when their size is small enough to drift to the sea. These icebergs are seen in two shades: milky white and bright blue, which depends on the air trapped within the ice and is an interplay of light and ice crystals

It was raining pretty hard, but I couldn't resist the interplay of colors. Thank God the camera and lens are weather resistant!

Both sunrises and sunsets are among the most impressive natural spectacles at the Bastei. Particularly fascinating is the interplay of clouds breaking up the horizon, allowing the sun to cast a stunning play of colors into the valley.

It's worth taking a look down below – especially at the point where the Elbe River bends. Here, the light unfolds a truly magical effect.

I look forward to your opinions and suggestions!

The Watchman in Zion National Park is a red spire rising to an elevation of 6545 feet.

As the sun sets in the West, it will illuminate the west side of the Watchman and the adjacent hillside. This will give it a nice golden glow against the red colored sand stone and rock.

Zion National Park is a paradise for landscape photographers, with glowing orange, red, and pink textured sandstone formations interplaying with the lush vegetation provided by weeping walls.

Number 4 in an ongoing series of urban images shot in Pano-Sabotage that address the overload of overpopulated, urban centres and their trajectory toward unsustainability and eventual collapse. Our environments reflect our mindsets. Social distortion indeed.

"End Games" use only one Pano-Sabotage shot that is layered repeatedly in different sizings and shifted positions. Layers are treated with various levels of translucency to increase their interaction and to render the material objects in the image less so. It opens up the image's intent to suggest the interplay of several dimensions of a single world - co-existing.

None of the Pano layers in this particular image were subjected to photo manipulation. Basic tweaks of colour, shadow, highlights and contrast were used but no filters or effects.

Image shot Dec 8, 2018 and assembled Dec 9, the next day.

Made from a digital photography from my portfolio, a digitally painted watercolor painting unveils the picturesque scene of an inner street within the fortified city of Carcassonne. The brushstrokes capture the essence of this historical location, where narrow cobblestone streets wind their way amidst ancient stone structures. The painting portrays a vibrant atmosphere teeming with life as tourists amble along the meandering lanes, enchanted by the allure of the medieval architecture that surrounds them.

The focal point of the artwork is the beautiful yellowish stone buildings, standing tall with their two-story structures, proudly displaying the marks of centuries gone by. The textured strokes of the brush bring life to the aged walls, highlighting their unique character and weathered charm. The warm hues of the stone reflect the sun's gentle caress, creating a harmonious interplay of light and shadow across the canvas.

The street itself appears alive, bustling with activity. The artist's attention to detail showcases the diversity of the passersby, their clothing and accessories hinting at various cultures and backgrounds. Curious tourists explore every nook and cranny, their eyes drawn to the intricate architectural details that adorn the buildings. Balconies adorned with potted plants overflow with vivid blooms, providing a splash of color against the ancient stone backdrop.

As the eye wanders deeper into the painting, the narrowness of the streets becomes apparent. The use of perspective creates an illusion of depth, guiding the viewer's gaze deeper into the heart of the city. Delicate shadows cast by the overhead sunlight dance along the street, adding a sense of movement and capturing the fleeting nature of the moment.

In this captivating watercolor, we are transported to a bygone era, where the fusion of history and everyday life creates a timeless charm. Invite us to stroll through the streets of Carcassonne, to admire the enduring beauty of its medieval architecture, and to become captivated by the unique atmosphere that emanates from every stone and passerby.
