1986 85 Jongert "Impossible Dream"

Before my daughter Matilde was born in Octuber, 2012, I bought a 3-pack of Impossible film. I was about to become a mother and I wanted to record my child's first month of life through instant photography. I paid 50 euros for that; normally I'd consider that too much money for 3 cartridges, but I thought the Big Event was worth it. But all I've got was an excess of random results. Out of 24 pictures, just 3 or 4 turned out "good", the rest, in the best case, looks like this. Some are pure black. 50 euros? No more Impossible, thank you.

impossible project

We were given an assignment to shoot the impossible, no Photoshop allowed. These are the images that I came up with.

The wall on the right was constructed especially for the movie Mission Impossible III. If you watch the movie, you'll see Tom Cruise on the top of this wall.

A lek of insects. Could be midges, or something small and similar. They are acually only a few feet in front of me. The cloud kept changing shape. Very interesting but impossible to really capture on film.

For no reason at all I decided to do this photo with impossible colors.

A piece of the pie on one of our Moderntone depression glass plates. Taken by Ron. When we were clearing out my mother's house in 2005, one of the things we found was an Eastern Star cookbook. I called Shirley, one of Mother's Eastern Star friends, and offered to donate the book to Mother's chapter. Shirley said that would be great. Before I sent the cook book to her, I copied some of the recipes. There were three recipes in the book for "impossible pie" (a type of pie that does not have a crust you roll out...it forms a sort of crust as you bake it). None of them was completely satisfactory, so I compiled a recipe using portions of the three in the book. This was not only the first time I have ever made an "impossible pie", I think it is the first time I have ever eaten any. We think it turned out quite well, and it was very tasty (even if I say so myself).

So close, yet so far away... :[

'Some people listen to themselves

rather to listen what the others say.

These people don't come along very often.

But when they do.

They remind us that

once you set up on the path

Even though critics may doubt you.

It's ok to believe.

That there is not 'can't', 'won't' or 'impossible'.

They remind us

that it's ok to believe

IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.'
