Since I find it 'almost impossible' to get over to the San Francisco area so I'll share my image of the Summer Tanager that I took in Costa Rica last April.
Probably takes about the same amount of time to get there...lol
Thanks for your visit and comments, have a wonderful holiday!

I wrote the title before I noted that the picture was taken in 2002 by a Nexus 4 mobile. Don't know what's going on here.

A hot humid late Friday afternoon at the ACD 2018 Festival in Auburn, Indiana. I would estimate there were well over 200 people (spectators) roaming around the streets of this small town admiring (or just gawking) at the multitude of cars parked around the Courthouse and adjacent side streets. Of course my intent was to take some great pictures of classic, antique cars. Well forget that! Totally impossible for a number of reasons:
#1 - The crowds of people were totally overwhelming………… worse, I suspect than walking through the streets of Mumbia, India
#2 - It was hotter than Hell and as humid as Vietnam in July/August
#3 - The sun, now setting much faster than back in June/July was casting long, distracting shadows all over the cars.
#4 - As indicated in this picture, adding to the unwanted distractions were street cones, wooden horses blocking off streets and a multitude of other annoying objects.
#5 - The “classic” car you see here is not even a true classic car - it’s a replication of a 1935-36 Auburn Speedster. If I am going to push, pull and struggle to take a picture of a classic antique car, I want it to be a authentic classic, antique car - not a replica! Anyone with enough money can have a replica built but a replica does not incorporate any of the antique components; neither the body, the chassis, the running gear or the engine.
From purely a photographer’s standpoint, Friday was a waste as far as I was concerned. Saturday was not a whole lot better but I won’t get into that story. Did I enjoy seeing and spending some time with my flickr friends; Steve Brown, his brother, Doug and Grant, yes. Was it great to have my “buddy” (my wife and eternal optimist) Margie along with me, yes. Was it great to try to navigate through mobs and mobs of people in the blazing heat and humidity with two pretty much useless cameras dangling from my neck……..….Noooooo, I don’t think sooooo. Was the trip from Chicago to Auburn, Indiana worth it - I would say, yes.
You will be seeing, I hope, some pictures I managed to get of some classic cars that I stumbled across from time to time in and around the town of Auburn throughout the day on Saturday. Additionally some pictures taken at (and inside) the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Automotive Museum. I “hope” some of these warrant being posted.
We arrived at the end of the corridor.
Just before a dark and closed door.
Impossible to go back.
And this absolute fear to continue...
Nous sommes là, à la fin du couloir.
Devant cette porte close et sombre.
Dans l'impasse entre l'impossible demi-tour
Et cette peur absolue d'avancer...

Tonight at The Old Yarmouth Inn — the Impossible Burger. Should be called The Unbelievable Burger. It's 100% PLANT BASED.
We've tried the Impossible at Burger King and it's pretty good. This was 2.0 version was unbelievable. We had Matt's mother up from Connecticut last week and brought her to our nearby inn. Matt tried this and none of us could believe it. Back for lunch in a few days.

If you look at the lowest part of this photo you get a feeling for just how crowded it is - but since it is close to impossible to take a decent shot of the crowd when you're on the same height I aimed for the sky and the neon signs (including a couple for the boy band 'Sexy Zone').

(mask removed, soaked in hot coffee, separated the front and back and moved the emulsion around a bit and then sort of put it back together again)
