Imitating the buzzard and lots of other birds

Malecon, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

I posted my reference photograph for this painting a couple of days ago. I don't adhere strictly to the photo while painting but I like to be creative. I wanted the bokeh to be enhanced in the painting. This is an oil painting by the way. It measures 16x20 inches.

Photography imitating art? Not to everybody's taste.

Always amazing at how seeds can break through our paving over paradise--as in this parking lot next to a building with windows at 'ground zero'. Liked the contrast/comparison of the real flowers set against the lacey ones of the curtain.

This place is inspiring to me: After several series of photos taken there, I tried to imitate some Wyeth's paintings using elements taken by the place creator, Shelly70. I shot them and I made some photomontages trying to approach Wyeth's originals, at least by subject, colors, and lights, not caring of some differences in details.

Dunedin, NOVA ZELANDA 2023

The Dunedin Law Courts is a notable historic building in central Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand. They are located at the corner of Lower Stuart Street and Anzac Square, directly opposite the city's historic railway station. Since 1902, the building has been used as the city's law courts, and contains four court rooms, including the ornate High Court, as well as housing the offices and library of the Law Society.

Architecture:

The Law Courts building was one of the first major works to be designed by Government architect John Campbell, and was built in 1901–02 at a cost of £20,000 and opened in April 1902. The Law Courts are located alongside the former Dunedin Central Police Station, another Campbell building, though in a completely different style. While the 1890s police station (which was actually the city's gaol for most of its existence) was deliberately modelled in a Queen Anne style uncommon in New Zealand but designed to imitate London's New Scotland Yard (now the Norman Shaw Buildings), the Law Courts are in decorative but stern Victorian Gothic style similar to the buildings of Dunedin's University of Otago Registry Building.

As is common with many of Dunedin's more substantial historic structures (including the railway station opposite) the Law Courts are constructed of dark Port Chalmers breccia ornamented with lighter Oamaru stone, a local compacted limestone mined to the north of Dunedin, and is topped with a roof of slate and granite. The main entrance to the court sits at the foot of a short tower which is decorated with an un-blindfolded statue of Justice in Italian white marble.

Historic precinct:

The building has a category I classification on the New Zealand Historic Places Trust register of historic buildings. The courts, the railway station, the former police station, and the nearby Allied Press Building and buildings of the Toitū Otago Settlers Museum together form an impressive precinct close to the heart of the city, stretching south along the city's one-way street system (part of State Highway 1) to Queen's Gardens and up Lower Stuart Street towards the city centre, The Octagon.

The Law Courts Hotel, an Art Deco building within the historic precinct

One of the city's most historic public houses and hostelries, the Law Courts Hotel, is located close to the courts in Lower Stuart Street, in a large Art Deco building (also listed by the Historic Places Trust, Category II) directly opposite the Allied Press Building (the offices of the city's main newspaper, the Otago Daily Times). The prime location of this hotel near these two premises has greatly contributed to its history, as has its longevity (having originally been founded as the Auld Scotland Hotel in 1863).

This is the 2nd time I've photographed a juvenile Peregrine falcon perched on top of one of the Griffins at the church but I caught this one just before it took off so its wings are slightly extended almost mirroring those of the Griffin. It was protecting a piece of prey and flying around to avoid it from being stolen by its hungry siblings.

Atlas moths (Attacus atlas) live in the dry tropical forests and shrublands of Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia and Indonesia. The phenomenon of one organism resembling another for the purposes of protection is called “mimicry.” If you look at the wings of the atlas moth, you’ll see what appears to look like a snake. When threatened, the atlas moth will drop to the floor and writhe around, slowing flapping its wings to imitate snake head and neck movements and scare away predators.

I chose the images I wanted and Canva supplied the animated text. It also chose the audio but I used this "Inspiring Motivation Music (Nature) instead.

Forgot to mention that the title was created by Canva too.

The vault of the church imitates Hagia Sophia.

In the center is the image of Christ the Great Bishop surrounded by Archangels. He is represented on the Throne as King and Priest. Next to the Savior, the Mother of God and John the Baptist turn to Him.

Artist Ivan Izhakevich (1864-1963).

In Christian and, including, Ukrainian sacred art, Old Testament characters (prophets and forefathers) play the role of heralds of the New Testament, symbolizing the meeting of the Old and New Testaments.

In this case, in the dome of the temple, Christ the Savior is enthroned surrounded by the Mother of God, John the Forerunner and archangels, and below, on a drum of light, he is surrounded by 16 prophets, each of whom holds a scroll with prophecies about the birth of the Messiah. In Ukraine, if the prophets are represented in the iconostasis, as a rule, they create the highest iconostasis rank.
