Stopped by Marginal Way Skatepark to skate last Saturday and it turned out they were redoing one of the older pockets, so I hauled some buckets in exchange for some shots.
Iford Pan F Plus and Pentax 67ii with SMC Pentax 67 105mm f/2.4. Developed in Agfa Rodinal 1:100 with one minute agitation and 60 minutes stand. Scanned with Canoscan 8600f.
I was experimenting with Ilford Pan F Plus ISO 50 Black and White film in these shots. I found several things I like about the film. It's an extremely fine grain film. I was experimenting with depth of field in these mantis shots. Some were shot handheld with a very shallow depth of field to throw the background out of focus and give surreal bokeh. Others were shot with a tripod, small aperture and slow shutter speed. Yashica FX-3 Super 2000, Vivitar series 1 28-90mm F2.8-3.5 Macro lens, Tiffen Yellow #8 filter, Ilford Pan F Plus film, Hand held at F2.8 This was done with a super shallow depth of field. I wanted to isolate the head and eyeball of the mantis and throw everything else out of focus. We were indeed eyeball to eyeball in this shot. He was watching me and I was watching him. My front lens element was about 2 inches from his head. I was shooting at 28mm, Wide open as close as I could possibly focus.

Ok, this is one of those shots that suffered from camera shake and focusing error, but I liked the general composition.
Being a tight bastard, I abhor any sort of waste, even a frame of film.
So I reduced clarity, increased exposure in post and we now have an 'Abstract'

We had a heavy spring snowstorm a little while back, complete with thunder and lightning. This is a night view looking out over the lawn as the snow was falling. I was hoping to time the lightning, which gave an eerie light through the dense clouds and snow (the worlds greatest soft box!), but to no avail. Approximately 4 second (counted) exposure at f/1.8.

Illegal migrants hanging out, in the Pedion tou Areos park in Athens near leoforos Alexandras avenue, enjoy the coolness of the fountains of the square in the middle of a very hot afternoon. On their way to northern Europe, immigrants enter through Greece and often get stuck in Athens where their numbers are increasing. [Crop:rb_120705_1010001.jpg]
