Dobie and I decided to go on a skateboarding adventure in the forest this evening, and we had a grand time wandering about, so much so that we completely lost track of the time. It seemed quicker than two shakes of a raven's tailfeather that dusk was upon us, and we had scampered so far into the woods that we were lost. Getting lost is a recurring theme for me, and yes, it happens in all lives: I have a really bad sense of direction. And on top of that, in SL, I have exceptionally poor navigational skills! So, full disclosure, I didn't actually do any skateboarding. And honestly, the terrain was not really ideal for it even if I was a super skater guru!
Fortunately for us, we happened upon this adorable and very friendly crow, and he kindly told us that we were going in the wrong direction (big surprise, right?!) and set us on the right path. Soon enough we were home again with another adventure to add to our memory album!

There has been a lot of discussion about the meaningfulness of this event, being held in times of pandemic, in an autocratic country that tramples human rights underfoot, and in the presence of a threat of war between Russia and Ukraine.
Olympic ideals and values seem to apply to athletes only, the main purpose is about big money and state propaganda.

The reed warbler is a bird of reed beds and other riparian vegetation and usually builds its nest in reed beds. Its ideal habitat consists of a combination of young and old reeds and a dense, partly high-growing herb layer. It eats insects that it collects low in the dense vegetation. The reed warbler is a migratory bird and winters south of the Sahel. Reed warblers show themselves well when singing. The males climb to the top of a reed stem and often perform a short song flight, after which they descend again like a parachute.

A southbound Pacific Surfliner rolls along the ocean near Del Mar. The house on the right is no doubt out of my budget, but I could still dream of watching Surfliners and BNSF freight passing through from an incredible vantage point.
La puebla vieja de San Vicente es un espacio lleno de encanto gracias a su iglesia, castillo y los restos de una muralla. Los puentes tienen también mucho que ver en la belleza de esta villa, que tiene como fondo los majestuosos Picos de Europa con sus cumbres permanentemente nevadas. Todo ello convierte este antiguo refugio de pescadores en un lugar ideal para descansar y disfrutar.
En cuanto a sus monumentos, el más destacado es la iglesia de Santa María de los Ángeles, construida entre los siglos XIII y XVI. En el XV se levantó el antiguo convento franciscano de San Luis, hoy se pueden ver sus restos. El castillo edificado en tiempos de Alfonso I es hoy sede de numerosas exposiciones.
La puebla vieja de San Vicente es un conjunto monumental plagado de interesantes edificios que le han merecido la declaración como bien de interés cultural de Cantabria desde 1987. Los puentes son otro de los signos de identidad de esta villa: el de la Maza, con 28 ojos, fue construido por mandato de los Reyes Católicos en el siglo XVI, mientras que el del Parral data del siglo XVIII.

Driving back from a look around the harbour and this wee boat in the dry dock jumped out at me when I drove past. I would have loved to have been able to get a photo from down below it but highly unlikely and no-one around on Sunday. A cool looking photo was begging to be taken but access was poor and the razor wire at the top of the fence meant that even with my 2m tripod it wasn't ideal, but happy enough to get something.
These lush green pastures are ideal for grazing sheep. The shed out the back of the farm house is filled with fresh hay.
Dry stack stone , like the one shown in the photograph, are made without using mortar, selecting the appropriate stones and their ideal position to ensure the stability of the wall. It is a form of construction widely used for centuries in the Aragonese Pyrenees to delimit fields of different owners. Over time, the stones become covered with lichens and moss, giving them wonderful textures and color.
Los muros de piedra seca, como el que aparece en la fotografía, se hacen sin utilizar mortero ni argamasa, seleccionando las piedras adecuadas y su posición idónea para asegurar la estabilidad del muro. Es una forma de construcción muy utilizada desde hace siglos en el Pirineo aragonés para delimitar campos de distintos propietarios. Con el tiempo, las piedras van cubriéndose de líquenes y musgo, dotándolas de unas maravillosas texturas y colorido.

La baie de Kuto est située au sud-ouest de l’Ile des Pins, en Nouvelle-Calédonie. Elle s’étire en un croissant aux proportions parfaites. Le sable y est d’une douceur et d’une finesse incroyables ! Baignée de soleil, elle offre un cadre absolument parfait pour une première baignade dans ses eaux turquoises et transparentes. Quelques bateaux de plaisanciers y posent l’ancre, offrant un paysage de carte postale. Encadrée de jolis et hauts cocotiers, l’ombre y sera aussi idéale pour une sieste au son du roulis des vagues ! N’hésitez pas à y rester jusqu’à la fin de la journée, le coucher de soleil est vraiment sublime !

Every morning brings a new opportunity for this Mohave Rattlesnake. A nice sunbath following a long night of cooler temperatures may seem ideal, though a roadway can become a danger with quickly approaching vehicles!
Sunny and windless conditions are ideal for seeing this species as they are more likely to perch out in the open on top of heather or gorse in their favoured habitat. With a bit of perseverence I managed to capture this one with a nice clean background to help the bird stand out
