Just popped out into the garden with the dogs and noticed Farouq 'marking' at some wood against the wall, assuming it was just a mouse I tried to call Farouq back into the house. He refused to come so I moved the wood to see what it was and this huge rat ran out and was quickly caught by Farouq a dispatched extremely quickly. His mother Ameerah as kill quite a few Rats but this was Farouq first.
We have a total of two trips organized to clean cartridges from the hunting fields on the mountains of Lebanon. An alternative solution for using a recycling machine that is specialized in cartridges is yet to be found.
This wasp seemed able to fly normally, even though its hind wing looks clipped. It was poking its head into holes in and between rocks at the neighborhood school playground. I am pretty sure it's a sphecid; I'll check for a specimen in the teaching collection...
