Waterfowl hunters played a key role in the establishment of the National Wildlife Refuge System and have continued their support for over one hundred years. Duck hunting traditions involve getting together with family and friends in the early morning light to set out decoys, seeing the sun rise and hearing the ducks in the dark as they circle the wetland or fly the river, watching the dog make a great retrieve, and the shared meals that follow after the hunt.

But why would you want to listen to me talk about hunting knives. Well, a little about me. I have been an avid hunter for the past 50 years and have hunted big and small game everywhere from Alaska to Florida, Europe and the Pacific. I have hunted, dressed and butchered dove-squirrel-rabbit-turkey-raccoon-fox-coyote-waterfowl-javalina-mule deer-whitetail deer-antelope in the US lower 48, waterfowl-ptarmigan-snowshoe hare-moose-caribou-brown bear in Alaska, waterfowl-wood pigeons-rabbits in the UK, and wild pigs/boar in Guam.
So, how would I choose the best hunting knife for me? First, determine what kind of hunting activities you want to do and whether I. Will you be hunting waterfowl, small game, large game, or a combination of them all? Generally, the larger the game, the larger the knife - but that doesn't mean that a good sharp smaller knife won't work just fine.
Once you determine the kind of hunting you are interested in, you need to ask yourself a few additional questions. Do you want a knife just for hunting? Do you want to carry your knife when you are not hunting?
Now that we have these questions answered, lets talk turkey.
BIG GAME HUNTER: If you are a big game hunter and want a knife specifically for dressing big game, you should consider a fixed blade knife. By definition, these knives are permanently open so they are generally stronger and more reliable. Because the blade is always open, they normally come with a sheath for safe carrying.

Hunting has a very long history, according to some evidence found in Western Kenya hunting has been occurring for more than two million years already. Hunting is the activity of stalking and tracking down an animal and then killing it. Today hunting is either a sport or hobby to kill animals as...
Deer hunting everyday keeps the doctor away.
Nothing better than spending quality time in the woods. The sights. The sounds. The fresh air. Each moment is priceless. To be remembered forever. Getting a deer, well, that's a bonus.
Rinca (Indonesia), July 2010
We've seen a lot of these macaques on Bali too, but they were eating fruits from the trees, plants and sometimes even garbage instead of hunting crabs, an activity which is the reason for one of their names ("Crab-eating Macaque"). On Rinca we've seen them for the first time in an area full of crabs. But they are omnivores and eat what they can get.
The species is used extensively in medical experiments, in particular those connected with neuroscience. It has also been identified as a possible vector for Ebola virus and monkeypox. The Macaques are often unafraid of humans, behave sometimes aggressive to them and are found in many villages.
The capture above (and others on my stream) was taken during a 3 day expedition to Flores, Komodo and Rinca in July 2010. Rinca is one of four islands where the largest species of lizard in the world lives, the Komodo dragon
