關廠工人絕食行動進入第八天，目前仍有6人仍在勞委會前絕食，其中3名從4/28就開始絕食，已經絕食滿173小時。勞委會方面至今仍無代表與絕食者協商，僅派出就業工作站人員直接到工人家裡說明日前出爐的「七八九折扣方案」。
另，勞委會主委潘世偉今天接受廣播媒體採訪時表示，勞委會前已無人絕食，並有30名關廠工人同意接受勞委會所提出的「打折」方案，當中包括2名自救會理事長。據了解，這兩名接受勞委會方案的自救會成員，分別隸屬於聯福、耀元自救會。
此外，潘世偉在廣播中亦表示，勞委會的立場是不要以訴訟，而是以和解方式讓爭議圓滿落幕，他希望抗爭勞工仔細考慮勞委會方案。
全關連今下午發表新聞稿痛批，潘世偉「顯然在漫長的8天裡，正眼都沒瞧過關廠工人一眼，根本不把人命放在心上，才會表示絕食已經停止」。
全關連指出，勞委會對外宣稱「不要訴訟要和解」，但事實證明，日前勞委會在停告期未滿前就恢復訴訟，根本沒有誠意與工人和解。
明天上午潘世偉將到立法院衛環委員會備詢，全關連絕食者也將到立法院召開記者會，持續要求潘世偉出面協商，並承諾推動修改勞基法第28條，擴大薪資墊償適用範圍。
今日退出絕食行列者包括絕食滿168小時的東菱電子女工簡素卿、北市產總總幹事袁孔琪，以及南藝大音樂會副教授阮馨儀。簡素卿因嚴重脫水導致體重下降7公斤，經醫療小組要求停止絕食。袁孔琪因家庭因素退出，阮馨儀則因病退出。
目前仍在勞委會前的絕食者包括（左起）國際勞工協會研究員吳永毅、非典勞動工作坊林子文、東菱電子女工陳滿屏、前桃產總理事長毛振飛。另外，昨天才加入絕食，不在圖中者為聯福女工簡玉娥、文大法律系學生李昀岳。（註：圖左四為簡素卿，拍攝時她仍在絕食所以仍將照片放上。）

Every time a new year comes around people make resolutions. The need for a significant reason for new beginnings; Loose weight, diet, get in shape, be nicer, etc. I agree, these are all good things to aim for in your life; ways to better yourself and evolve. Yet I feel like they are lacking for me again this year, as they always have in the past. I need more, each year passes and I always fail to choose one and I think it's because I simply never found the right resolution for myself. After reading these books, I finally have ...
My resolution is to stand for something, to stand for myself. To shift my own inner powers and take control in ways I never dared to before.
So here's a picture of a Mockingjay; the symbol of hope, revolution, and a better future. Because these are the only things I wish for myself and those I love. To spread hope, start a self-revolution and create a better world for myself.

Good Friday 2022 community outreach - these are the faces of hunger and food challenged in Miami today.
City College staff, from all departments, joined Farmshare of America and Strike Out Hunger Food Drive in Alachua County to make a difference this holiday season. Over 800 families received an estimated 20 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food items. Great Job!!! The Team led by Gloria Ashley: Alicia Aikens, Gloria Ashley, Diane Colson, Renelle Debose, Mirvat Jamal, Ray Matura, Monica Pozo, Terra Slater.
Tony Rochford had been on hunger strike for 16 days when we were in Dublin. He was protesting the government's levying of a local property tax assumed to be used to pay back British bankers for their bailout of Ireland's economy.

"The lrish Hunger Memorial is designed to raise public awareness of the events that led to the famine of 1845-52 and to encourage efforts to address current and future hunger worldwide. One and a half million Irish were lost through famine related death and the Diaspora. The design expresses a desire to react and respond to changing world events without losing its focus on the project's commemorative intent. Central to Tolle's project is an authentic Famine-era cottage donated to the Memorial by his extended family, the Slacks of Attymass, County Mayo, Ireland. The cottage has been painstakingly reconstructed on the Memorial's halfacre site as an expression of solidarity to those who left from those who stayed behind. From the cottage, visitors to the Memorial meander along paths winding through a rugged landscape thickly planted with native Irish flora-plants often found growing in fallow fields. Ascending to an overlook twenty-five feet above the ground, the visitor confronts a breath-taking view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island beyond.This landscape is cantilevered over a stratified base of glass and fossilized Irish limestone, presenting a theater of historical and modern sentiments about famine worldwide. Layers of mutable text, appearing beyond touch as shadows upon the glass, wrap around the exterior of the Memorial and into the passageway leading to the cottage while accounts of world hunger are heard from an audio installation overhead.

Dedicated on July 16, 2002, the Irish Hunger Memorial (which takes its name from the Irish term for the famine of 1845-52, "An Gorta Mor," The Great Hunger) stands on a half-acre site at the corner of Vesey Street and North End Avenue in Battery Park City, between the Embassy Suites Hotel and the Hudson River.
In March, 2000, the Authority commissioned the design of "a contemplative space, devoted to raising public awareness of the events that led to the Great Irish Hunger and Migration of 1845-1852." The Memorial was intended to serve also as a catalyst for addressing current issues of world hunger.
