雖然原先沒有規劃無限期絕食，但因為人到現場「看不下去」，因而臨時決定參與無限期絕食的社運人士殷必雄，在今天上午7點多前往廁所途中突然昏倒送醫，在急診室時心跳高達每分鐘160下。殷必雄最終絕食了113.5小時，而他所聲援的年邁工人們至今仍持續絕食中，至今已突破122小時。
絕食工人醫療小組表示，雖然目前都有監測絕食者飲水狀態，但絕食還是會造成脫水現象，難以避免。至於心跳數達每分鐘160下已是危急狀況，未來會加強監測絕食者心跳數。
雖然勞委會至今都沒有派出管理階層與絕食者協商，但今天上午勞委會派人送新聞稿到帳棚，強調協商方案宣導時有上百人參加，並非沒有自始至終沒有當面溝通。桃產總秘書長姚光祖則痛批，當時參加宣導的上百人都是去抗議的，希望勞委會不要再對外扭曲事實。
最新狀況是，殷必雄已經離開急診室，在妻子陪伴下回家靜養，部分絕食工人則前往台北地方法院聽取判決。此次宣判的案件，與去年關廠工人上凱道丟雞蛋有關，被起訴者為毛振飛，法官判決毛振飛拘役20天，而毛本人曾數度表示，寧願被政府關也不願易科罰金。

Doulough,heading to Louisburgh towards Westport, we came upon a place of great beauty that hides it's terrible past. In 1849 during the Irish Famine, local people were told they must appear at Delphi Lodge (ten miles away) at 7am the following morning to be certified as paupers, and receive Alms,thus entitling them to a ration of 3 pounds of meal each. They set out on foot along the mountain road and pathway in cold, wintry conditions.
When they arrived at Delphi Lodge, they were refused either food or tickets of admission to the workhouse and so they had to begin their weary return journey. It was on this journey that 120 people died by the roadside. mostly Women and children,
In 1841 the Choctaw people in Mississippi were forced from their homelands to journey many hundred miles cross country to Oklahoma . Many of them perished on what became known as the 'Trail of Tears'. A report in 'The Arkansas Intelligence' of April 3rd 1847 stated that the Choctaw people, on learning of the Doulough Tragedy, sent money to a famine relief fund in Ireland . The Choctaws scraped together $710 to send to help the starving Irish.
In 1992, in recognition of this extraordinary act of generosity, 22 Irish men and women re-enacted the tragic 500-mile ‘Trail of Tears’, which resulted in the Choctaw Indian population reduced to less than half. Raising 1,000 dollars for every one given by the Choctaws to relieve the suffering in famine-stricken Somalia . In 1997, at the annual ‘Famine Walk’ held between Louisburgh and Doolough, the Chief of the Choctaw Nation joined hundreds of others in remembering this tragic event. There is a monument in the valley with the following inscription from Gandhi, among others, commemorating the event. "How can men feel themselves honored by the humiliation of their fellow beings?"

Went to watch The Hunger Games today. I loved it! It's been a while since I went to watch a movie, so it was nice.
Then went straight off to Chapters to buy the complete set of the book. I only read the first book, The Hunger Games before the movie came out. I can't wait for Finals to be done so I can read them all.

This was one of the images I submitted to a photography contest in the form of a scavenger hunt. It was supposed to be in the style of Larry Gawel, who tries to capture feelings or emotions by purposefully keeping things out of focus and vague. It's really the mini-fridge that I keep in my office/cubicle-farm/grad-student graveyard.
