G80, Park im Grünen Münchenstein

The Great Hunger Memorial, sculpted by Eamonn O’Doherty of Ireland, can be found in V.E. Macy Park, Ardsley, New York.

Took this image at school with the few ingredients we got. The drops were added in post-processing. The apple itself had ugly marks and was gross to look at, but Photoshop works wonders. The lettuce was also starting to rot so I had to work away some of the dark corners. At the end the result turned out pretty well!

Here an emerald tanager and a blue and gold tanager enjoy some plantain held in my guides hand.

Yes these are wild birds!

Emerald Tanager

Well-named tanager, mostly emerald-green with trapezoidal black cheek patch, back streaking and wing markings. Small and active, usually found in pairs following mixed feeding flocks in foothill forests and edges. Feeds on fruit. Sexes alike.

Blue and Gold Tanager

Chunky, stout-billed tanager; slightly larger and slower-moving than many classic smaller tanagers. Short tail. Overall dark slaty blue with golden yellow underparts. Red eye. Looks like an oversized euphonia but note dark crown. Sexes alike. Uncommon to rare in forests and edges, usually in pairs or small flocks in the canopy.

Brugge is a fabulously rich city, and you may wonder why there is a statue symbolising Hunger (see the weighing scale). This is one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, bronze sculptures made by Rick Poot between 1981 and 1987. You would find them between the Groeningemuseum and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk. The Beyond or the Transcendent is never far away in this city that, nominally at least, is about 80% Catholic. Don't be tempted by all the splendour, these sculptures seem to say, and do not think that wealth and certainty are the same thing - because the Unthinkable is just around the corner. Fuji X100F.

RT Library children and their families decorated bags to help publicize the importance of good nutrition programs for children. The NJ Anti-Hunger coalition collected bags all around NJ and presented them to NJ legislators to demonstrate support for children's nutrition programs.
