The women at Amy Jackson's "Get Fed Up and End Hunger" breakfast in Huntsville, Ala., wrote letters to Congress, urging senators to continue funding international development programs. They collected 60 plus letters to Congress by week's end.
關廠工人絕食行動滿一週，在昨晚8：28「餓滿」150小時，勞委會則除了持續發表新聞稿隔空喊話，呼籲工人停止「過激」陳情行動外，也派出就業工作站員工拜訪關廠工人家屬，希望可以藉由親屬力量，讓抗爭工人願意簽署同意之前勞委會提出的「打折」還款方案。
這兩天絕食者陳滿屏一直處於又疲倦又氣憤的狀態。談起勞委會「拜訪」一事，她激動地說：「我人在勞委會前絕食抗議，勞委會不來找我溝通，跑去我屏東老家找我爸爸，84的老人家，勞委會的人見到他劈頭就說，你女兒在外面欠政府錢被告了，官司如果輸了要連本帶利還出來，你勸她現在趕快（在補助方案同意書上）簽名。」
「我4月28日開始在勞委會絕食，他不然找我談，卻跑去驚動老人家，然後對絕食的人不聞不問，我不知道這個政府怎麼了，我們把國家交給它，它卻這樣對待它的人民。」
陳滿屏指出，雖然勞委會只跟她追討20幾萬，自己並非還不出來，但心裡覺得很不甘心、氣不過，所以才放下小吃店生意持續抗議。她質疑，16年前他們歷經接連抗爭、臥軌後，終於在絕食28小時後，迫使當時的勞委會主委許介圭出面，但現在無論他們怎麼絕食，主委就是不願出面，讓她感到很痛心。
今天絕食者的狀況持續惡化，除了沈秋華在晚間因家庭、健康因素退出絕食外，幾名絕食者也持續出現頭暈、胃食道逆流、脫水現象。明天全關連將發起「國家橫行，工人恨行」行動，打算一路從勞委會走到新北地方法院，但絕食者則會留在現場，等待勞委會主委潘世偉出面。
雖然今天是假日，但勞委會勞資處仍發表新聞稿強調，他們已在5/2結合就業服務中心、地方政府勞政與社政單位等相關人員，針對548戶逾貸勞工，親自到宅訪視，說明補助要點內容，並表達勞委會關懷之意；截至5/3為止，勞委會已完成全部訪視。
此外，勞委會也在桃園就業服務站提供定點說明、現場收件服務，約有28人到站接受諮詢，其中16人現場遞交文件辦理申請，另提供13人到宅個別諮詢服務，並協助年紀老邁、行動不動之申請者撰寫申請表。5/5上午10～12時，勞委會將在同一地點持續提供相關服務。

Hunger...."Do Not Feed The Wildlife" signs are everywhere now. These poor deer are trapped in these little habitats with very little to eat. I realize they are overpopulated with less predators to keep their numbers down. but starvation is a terrible way to die. This deer is so thin it's really sad.
A Haitian orphan begging for food in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Haiti is full of orphans. Many parents leave their babies on the street, mainly because they have no food and no sources to maintain large families which they have. The overall situation on Haiti gets worse every year and the extreme, hardly imaginable poverty hits more and more people. The Haitian economics is paralysed, there is no infrastructure, no food supplies, the population suffer from hunger, social and living conditions in Haitian slums (e.g. Cité Soleil) are a human tragedy. The rage grows and the tension continues with undiminished strength.

What would be the breaking point of someone's hunger? How far or desperate would they become? Is hunger easily visible? Or can people look composed while hiding this issue?

For my newest viewers, I did a Fear series for my college capstone where I visualized my 13 biggest fears. At the gallery I had a sign asking people to write down their biggest fears, in hopes that one day I'd use it as inspiration for a future piece. Here is one those pieces.

I truly wanted to use a centipede originally, but couldn't find one, dead or alive. Then one day, one of my students casually handed me a flower box, and told me her pet tarantula had died, and that I could keep it (Thanks Izzy 😂). I knew immediately I had to use it. I pray that I never have to feel this desperate.

I wanted this photo to be jarring. I used to do darker art, and it's definitely within my roots as an artist. I wanted my model (thank you DR!) to appear clean and pretty with a pure white plate, a juxtaposition to the dark, scary, dead creature not normally found on a dinner table.

On a side note, what's the craziest thing you've eaten? I've tried escargot, grasshopper tacos, and blue mountain oysters.

I'm finally getting better from covid, although it's been a whirlwind of emotions for me. Thanks to anyone who is still reading, and I'm excited to share more content.
Sutra The Gastropub : A Bon Vivant’s delight
Sutra Gastropub which hosted a wonderful event with Signature Expressions and the cult band Indian Ocean this week has already become a very significant part of the party scene in Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub. The restaurant offers soups, salads, a wide variety of starters and serves cuisines like Indian, Italian, Moroccan, American and European.
I like the menu; it has hearty, trustworthy dishes that the chefs have managed to execute well. The well being of the flourishing, diverse and experimental food tradition in India rests in the hands of such restaurants.
Jhul e kabab @ SutraSpeaking of the well-written, hunger-inducing, gutsy menu, we read it and immediately knew what we wanted. Such a musical night with iconic singers and musicians called for a lot of finger food and signature cocktails. We ordered a “Manhattan” with Signature’s best whiskey, “Mustard Fish Tikka”, “Seekh-e-khas” and “Jujeh Kebabs”.
Alfresco dining, iconic music, and an extremely cosy restaurant, is all that we needed after a long hard day at work. The restaurant is well planned and spacious. There is dark-wood furniture. There are two bars with bar stools for people who wish to sit there and drink the bartenders interesting cocktail concoctions; they also have a wine rack. Indian ocean sutra
On a weekday (Wednesday), the place is bustling with people; I wasn’t at all surprised, most restaurants at Cyber Hub are thriving, every day is good business, weekends are especially brilliant.
IMG_2425And then the food starts to arrive and it’s clear everything is going to be great. The food is fresh, the drinks are well balanced and the staff is courteous. Check. Check. Check. The restaurant checks all the right boxes for me. For main course I got a thin crust “Chicken Pizza”. I expected it to be heavy but it turned out to be surprisingly light. It was an utterly guilt-free pizza with extremely coordinated ingredients.
Most evenings and weekends are special for the restaurant because they organise fun-filled events for their patrons. Anoop, who manages the place, and it feels very much like a one-man operation, clearly knows how to make customers feel at home.
There are chunky burgers with chicken and lamb; the meat is tender, well cooked and extremely delicious. This multi-cuisine restaurant does a mouth-watering molten brownie cake, chocolate tiramisu and some really interesting cheesecake to finish.
Sutra seems to be doing a great job because the evening was a raving success and went absolutely glitch free.

International Students and Chinese students gathered at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou City, Guangdong to learn about hunger, sign the ONE hunger petition and write letters to their sister city Congressmen.
Hunger is a third-person 3D action adventure game with stealth and exploration elements. A nine-year old girl named Six is kidnapped from her home and taken to work in The Maw – a surreal underwater resort catering to the whims of the powerful elite. When an unexpected twist of fate offers her a chance at freedom, Six takes a journey through the bizarre and unpredictable world of The Maw, and catches a glimpse at the corrupt heart of modern happiness.

"Feria Sprimenta Voluntariado" - Fair to promote volunteerism to fight against Poverty and Hunger
On April 30th, 2011 in Praia, Cape Verde, the youth and civil society of the Island of Santiago came together and demonstrated their will to fight Poverty and Hunger (MDG1) through active civic engagement and volunteerism. Marking on the Global Youth Service Day, activities were organized in more than 100 countries during the month of April, making it the largest annual celebration of young volunteers. The event in Cape Verde was organized and coordinated by the UN Volunteers working with the National Volunteer Program (PNV). This was also the launching event of the UNV activities for 2011 in Cape Verde, commemorating the tenth anniversary of International Year of Volunteerism.
PNV was established in 2009 as partnership between One UN/UNV, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NGO's Platform. As a result of on-going efforts by all stakeholders, PNV now plays a vital role in mobilizing civil society and supporting young people to exercise their right to actively participate in the country's development through the promotion of volunteer services.
More than 100 volunteers were mobilized for this event and hundreds more people gathered to take part in this global initiative. The stands were made from recycled materials as part of an environmental volunteer project and were used by participating organizations to present information to the public. The topics presented ranged from community service and service learning to youth empowerment activities that could benefit our communities, societies and the World as a whole.
The participating organizations were: Association for Disadvantage Children (ACRIDES), Cape Verdean Women's Organization (OMCV), Cape Verdean Institution for Adolescence (ICA), Caritas, Civil Protection Group, Development and Environment Protection Association (ADAD), Foundation of Cape Verdean Solidarity, National Program Against Poverty (PNLP), NGO Platforms, Praia Youth Center (CEJ), Peace Corps, Rádio Educativa, and Red Cross. The Ministry of Youth and the United Nations also played a vital role in the event, addressing the issues related to Volunteerism and MDGs, in line with the Government development priorities. Artists, dancers and theatre performers from Cirque Afrique, Grupo de Palhaços da Mocidade para Cristo and Grupo de Teatro Dja Sta also coloured the day with music and rhythms, sharing the principles of solidarity and volunteerism.
A whistle was blown by Frans Van de Van, FAO Representative in Cape Verde and UN Resident Coordinator a.i to kick off the event, reinforcing the message from 2010 Petition to End Global Hunger campaign (http://www.1billionhungry.org/) and highlighting that our fight to end poverty and hunger continues.
For the event, UNV and FAO joined hands to bring people together to address the issues related to Food Security and Nutrition. The importance of having a balanced and sustainable diet was underlined and educational activities stressed the need to make better decisions regarding what we eat as a preventive health measure. UN Volunteers shared the vision that by
mobilizing people and working together towards a more equal, peaceful and sustainable world, we can help achieve the MDGs: involving different generations, volunteerism can be instrumental for positive social change. UN Volunteers also took part in food donation sprints which helped raise 200kg of food, later donated to the Home for the Elderly and Children's Emergency Shelter (ICCA) in Praia.
The event was a great example of engaging with the public under the framework of One UN in Cape Verde. FAO provided the expertise regarding the issues of Food Security and Nutrition at global and local level. UNV mobilized civil society and raised public awareness concerning the value of volunteerism in achieving the MDGs. The diversity of UN agencies working within the One UN in Cape Verde has considerably widened the range of interventions in the country. In this regard, the joint initiative of UNV and FAO demonstrates that combining the expertise of each agency, the UN System can better support the country's national priorities and achieve its main development objectives. By working together, we can make a difference.
