This is a concept photo I did for a class at the U of U a while back

We admire the humility of the poor...their simplicity of smiling like we were children...so full of joy and gladness...for their happiness is based not on material things they own...but on the friendship, family love and community love they have for one another...

In all humility without trying to over reach my singular aspiration of making Marziya a good photographer I have shown her life as I would see it through a camera lens.

And because Marziya is an observant child with great creativity of mind it is a pleasure and an added learning experience playing the role of her Guru.

Even child needs a Guru , Marziya is stuck at two and a half years old and in November will hit 3.

We walk the roads she watches everything, she is not afraid and I took her to the butchers shop to see her reaction it was beyond her she has been to the fish market and already seen fish being cut and cleaned.

I have of course kept her away from the actual butchering that takes place of the live goat during Bakra Idd.

Because I make her shoot what I would be shooting , she realizes situations that we call street photography.,

Street photography according to me is creativity at its highest level shooting the soul of mans surroundings documenting his moves and his street emotions.

His laughter his yawn his sleep his tears all form part of this huge tableau of humanity.

Here Marziya is observing the local cobbler at his work, repairing soles is creativity too , however mundane the task my sound, a stitch in time saves nine.

And I dont overdo it , first I was excited not anymore we both are pros and we go about it as clinically as possible.

And how can you shoot what your inner soul never saw the difference between a picture and hurriedly clicked snap shot....though some of my pictures are hurriedly clicked snap shoots ..because you read them differently they become poems shot as visuals.

Basic knowledge of photography is important but than the human soul and practice takes care of the ensuing nitty gritty of street photography.

And here I shall shock all of you I would like my grand daughter not to shoot like me but like Roland Luthi, Randy Der Joel Tom Andrews Akbar Simonese Jeff Lamb some of the photographers who have influenced me in one way or the other.

I dare not ask her to shoot like Glenn Losack MD it is an impossible uphill task and she is far too young to reach such a stature due to her diminutive size.

And not just photography from photographers I would want her to learn Humanity from Benn Bell Anthony Posey Fred Miller Linda Schaefer Sukhi Hontu and many others friends bloggers photographers on Facebook and Flickr.

But I also know because she loves Art and creativity she might end up like Drunken Gekko, Jean Marc Gargantiel.

I would not want her to shoot Hijras Rafaees or the hardcore pictures I shoot , I would want her to shoot the Muslim beggar woman in a hijab, two children and her eyes searching for hope beyond the horizon of humanity.

Yes I would want Marziya to shoot a drop of tear as it rolls down a cheek into the gutters of despair.

What Marziya would want to shoot you will have to wait and watch, but if you see a girl in hijab covered from head to toe you know that she is carrying the inheritance of her grandfather the barefeet blogger of Mumbai..Photographer No1.

I am too embarrassed to write my own name here ...

Sensitive Issues

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved,

clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,

gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

Humans are tender creatures. All of us are. Even though many times we pretend things don’t bother us, many things really do. I remember a situation that began with a phone call late one night from a frantic wife. She called us for help because she and her husband were having a terrible fight and he was packing to leave.

When we arrived at their home, it was chaotic. She was in the living room with the children. They were all very upset and crying. He was in the garage loading his car to leave. Karen tried to comfort her and I talked to him in the garage.

Here is the short version. The husband was the type of person who hid his personal pain beneath a tough exterior. The more hurt and afraid he felt, the more dominant and intimidating he acted. He’d found out weeks earlier that his wife had some physical problems that were pretty serious. He was concerned and told her to go to the doctor. She didn’t. Every time he reminded her she would just brush him off.

On the night of the fight, he became very dominant and forceful with her about another issue. However, what was really bothering him was the thought that she might die. He cherished her and couldn’t stand the thought that her medical problems might be terminal. His fears took over and emotions got out of control.

As we sat with them and talked things out, she watched him sob uncontrollably as he talked about how much he loved her and how afraid he was something might happen to her. She admitted that the reason she didn’t go to the doctor was because the possible cost. As you can see, both were bothered by something and both of their concerns were valid. However, because they didn’t honestly discuss their feelings, the situation nearly ended in tragedy.

I’ve learned over the years that everything matters. Because of that, I am honest about my feelings and sensitive to Karen’s. I realize that when I’m bothered by something Karen says or does, there is usually more to her behavior.

Rather than reacting to what she says, I’ve learned to pursue what is going on with her on a deeper level. On many occasions, this has kept me from reacting with rejection, withdrawal or verbal aggression. It has also caused me to deeply respect the sensitivity of Karen’s heart and my own as well.

Talk It Out | What underlying issues in your relationship are you reluctant to bring to the surface and talk about? This would be a good time to begin a conversation about sensitive issues that really matter and allow your spouse to see it from your perspective.

Walk It Out | Call your spouse at an unexpected time this week, just to say, “I’m thinking of you.” God bless

O God, please help all family members to honor one another.

That we may learn to encourage one another by affirming each other’s goodness.

That we may learn to know from others how we can improve more in Holy Virtues of Love.

Please give us the grace to be mindful of our words.

That we may continue to be in the Holy Presence of God.

Always speaking Words of Wisdom in the Spirit of Gratefulness and thankfulness.

These that our Spirit may be enkindled more to do good deeds,

Through the affirmation of our family of our Heart’s Goodness.

Never to put down or discourage,

But that confidence to be a more loving person may reign in the family.

These that we also learn to know ourselves through the eyes of others.

And with Humility that we also be thankful to everyone’s good advice.

That The Holy Spirit of Peace and Respect may reign in all families forevermore!

Amen.

A lover knows only humility, he has no choice.

He steals into your alley at night, he has no choice.

He longs to kiss every lock of your hair, don't fret,

he has no choice.

In his frenzied love for you, he longs to break the chains

of his imprisonment, he has no choice.

A lover asked his beloved:

- Do you love yourself more than you love me?

Beloved replied: I have died to myself and I live for you.

I've disappeared from myself and my attributes,

I am present only for you.

I've forgotten all my learnings, but from knowing you I've become a scholar.

I've lost all my strength, but from your power I am able.

I love myself...I love you. I love you...I love myself.

I am your lover, come to my side, I will open the gate to your love.

Come settle with me, let us be neighbours to the stars. You have been hiding so long, endlessly drifting in the sea of my love.

Even so, you have always been connected to me.

Concealed, revealed, in the known, in the un-manifest. I am life itself.

You have been a prisoner of a little pond,

I am the ocean and its turbulent flood.

Come merge with me,leave this world of ignorance.

Be with me, I will open the gate to your love.

I desire you more than food or drink. My body my senses my mind hunger for your taste. I can sense your presence in my heart although you belong to all the world. I wait with silent passion for one gesture one glance from you.

MESSAGE:

The Pharisees didn't really want to know what Jesus taught on divorce and remarriage. They didn't value His opinion but were tempting Him and desired to get Him mired in the big dispute of their day between liberal and conservative views on divorce. This was a very emotional issue then, just as it is today, and they thought they had Jesus in a 'no win' situation.

However, as always, Jesus proved to be more than their match and He gave them much more than they asked for.

The Pharisees didn't question whether or not divorce was right. They took the right to divorce for granted.

Meet @rhiana.long! I’ve known Rhiana for a couple of years now. We’ve been contacts on social media first but the first time I really got to meet her was at a Dutch Growers Fashion Show in 2013. At that time, the first thing I noticed was how good her walk was on the runway, she had a walk that photographed really well! What had surprised me was that when I had talked to Rhiana then she was only 16 years old. The year after that, Rhiana appeared in billboards all over the province for Sask Fashion Week! This year, she’s just graduated from high school and has been an active Edge Agency model walking the runways and collaborating on creative shoots. I’ve had the privilege of working with her on two amazing creatives with @vampmakeup and an editorial with @jennifermachnee last year— each time I’ve worked with her she’s never failed to wow and impress me even more. At this very young age, sky’s the limit for Rhiana and I can’t wait to see her land an international modelling contract! What I appreciate about working with her the most is her humility and professionalism (despite those glitters and flashlight dances involved on a couple of creatives).

We took this portrait earlier this evening after a shoot she had with @erincrooksphotography and @hollydeckermakeupartistry. They’ve got some pretty amazing images coming up and you’ll all just have to wait and see in the near future. I had a great time catching up with Rhiana and getting the opportunity to grab her portrait before heading home. Definitely looking forward to working with her again this summer as well!

For anyone who’s interested to have their portrait taken, send me a DM here on Instagram! I’d like to get to know you and also take your portrait!

Royce Hall, University of California, Los Angeles

UCLA was ranked the nation’s number 1 public university last year. Deservingly, I saw banners boasting this honor through our the campus. However, I was also reminded the humility one ought to have, especially for an institution whose goal is to explore the unlimited unknown realms, and help to guide humanity to progress in the right direction. This was evidenced by the design of Royce Hall, whose two towers, although identical in height and wider, varied in design, symbolizing the perpetual imperfection of man in front of God. I hope this humbly endures despite the rapid growth of human knowledge and ambition.

Who says children these days don't value our culture and tradition! As a part of their activity, the students of Grade 2 decided to share a special message emphasizing on using our very own traditional gesture- Namaste especially during these times. The humble and meaningful "Namaste" has found a unique place as the preferred mode of greeting universally. The children shared a special message about this ancient Indian gesture while trying to encourage the use of Namaste instead of a handshake. The children shared a special message about this ancient Indian gesture while trying to encourage the use of Namaste instead of a handshake. The children shared a special message about this ancient Indian gesture while trying to encourage the use of Namaste instead of a handshake. Experiences like these inspire us to teach our kids more about our rich culture and heritage. So as the kids say in the video, the next time you see the divinity in someone, open the spiritual doors of your being, bow down with humility and say 'Namaste'.

I keep away from Iftar parties and the very humility of our fast has been overtly hijacked politicized for their own personal agenda , and this is nothing short of appeasement ,, you hit the Muslim with one stick and than hold a Iftar party to me hardly makes any sense, the stupid fake smiles the artificial white fur caps makes the politicians look like fools ,,even a Gandhi topi would be more meaningful.

Hand chosen people, sycophants , chamchas of the party, crowd collectors are invited to the Iftar party ..there is nothing holistic or spiritual about it ,, it is for publicity and gaining cookie points for the party.

I have not seen beggars the very poor sitting at the same table breaking the fast..the only time the Muslim beggar and the rich man come together heads bowed is during the Namaz , otherwise the Muslim beggar is treated worse than a Untouchable ..

People like me will never be invited to such fake Iftar parties , because with a camera in hand I would be searching for the beggars to shoot at the Iftar .. and there will be none all waiting with hands stretched outside the venue ,, the Iftar party by various political parties is to remind the Muslim not to forget that he has to cast his vote for them during the 2017 civic elections ,,

And I was asking this Muslim gentleman if he was invited to any Iftar party .. he said No.. he does his Iftar among his own in the Mosque ..one with God ,in humility and gratitude.

17*My child, be humble in everything you do, and people will appreciate it more than gifts. 18*The greater you become, the more humble you should be; then the Lord will be pleased with you. 20*The Lord's power is great, and he is honored by those who are humble. 21*Don't try to understand things that are too hard for you, or investigate matters that are beyond your power to know. 22*Concentrate on the Law, which has been given to you. You do not need to know about things which the Lord has not revealed, 23*so don't concern yourself with them. After all, what has been shown to you is beyond human power to understand. 24*Many people have been misled by their own opinions; their wrong ideas have warped their judgment.

On Sunday, May 20, 2018, Father Don Weber celebrated his 60th anniversary as a priest. A Mass and reception took place at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Wyoming. Gathered for the celebration were Father Don's family, friends and members of the clergy of the diocese.

During 60 years of priestly ministry, Father Don has served with humility and humor in several parishes of the Diocese of Grand Rapids including St. Francis de Sales (Holland) and Holy Name of Jesus. He, along with Father Ted Kozlowski, were instrumental in starting the Hispanic Apostolate in West Michigan. Father Don recently retired after 20 plus years as the diocese's vicar for priests.

This really was my earliest flirtation with film and SLRs, learning to use an old Russian fully manual camera (the one in my user icon), kindly loaned to me by the irrepressible knautia after my digital point & shoot died...

Commercial Break Continues

Filing coherently is proving to be an interesting process. Still uploading archive remnants so I can start afresh with the outstanding film I haven't developed yet. Thanks for bearing with me whilst I catch up with myself...

This is a an old blog I bring forward via Aviary editing tool I use prolifically at Flickr to erase the color element of my pictures to etch my restless angst.... it was my 36000 blog that time when I posted it , in all humility typing with just one finger of a permanently damaged right hand I have crossed over 287000 blogs..Now read the old blog below..

Mr Shreekanth Malushte needs no introduction, this man is larger than life,he shot this picture. So though you dont see him, his presence fills my pictorial frame..

Mr Shreekanth Malushte is a ardent fan of George Eastman founder of Kodak company.

George Eastman was created by a restless God , and man in the restlessness of his mind created the Camera that changed all our lives.

The camera is an instrument of pranic healing..

It may have not healed the sickness that Mr George Eastman was undergoing when he ended it with the famous words in his suicide note..

"To my friends: My work is done. Why wait? ...

Mr Shreekanth Malushte teaches photography, at grass root level this ex professor of the prestigious Maharashtra College..

I was lucky to have been taught photography by him, when my friend Mr Subhash Solanki sold me my first camera Nikon F50..he handed me a visiting card of Mr Shreekanth Malushte..the rest is history.

My daughter learnt photography through Mr Malushte..waiting restlessly in the wings is Marziya Shakir my 9 month old grand daughter a child prodigy..

So I pray that God gives Mr Malushte a very long life so that Marziya can boast when she comes of age ..that she too learnt photography from Mr Shreekanth Malushte.

And yes Mr Shreekanth Malushte and his charming wife were there when her dad Asif Shakir got married..

Mr Malushte teaches an art called Unlearning Photography..

He makes you a camera instead, that you become the lens film and negative..

This can be crazy if it goes beyond the human limit..

Craziness is indeed a part of evolving in photography.

A photographer must be a poet to add the roundness to his pictorial soul.. an added asset and dimensional..

When I say poet or poetry I talk of a silence of the soul.. wordlessly through pictures.

Mr Sreekanth Malushte introduced me to the Photographic Society of India lovingly called PSI Mumbai that celebrates its annual day this 29 August 2008.

Through Mr Shreekanth Malushte who taught me my basics , I met my other two Gurus both giants and stalwarts Prof BW Jatkar and Dronacharya KG Maheshwari.

They took my love of photography to another high salon participation.. much before I became an incorrigible photo blogger.

On Dahi Handi Day I got a call from Mr Malushte if I could come to Jijamata Udhyan Byculla and model for his new students like I had done a few years back at the same venue.

I obliged and the picture shot by Mr Malushte is a result of this outing..

After shooting the colonial past , a few shots in the zoo I left to shoot the Dahi Handi..taking a cab from Byculla to Lalbagh.

So this is my new set at my Flickr photostream..

This is my 5099 post this month August.

36117 photoblogs since I joined Flickr in June 2007

Yes I would be homeless as photo blogger without Flickr..

From Flickr I cross blog to my other web sites.

All my pictures thoughts poetry originates at Flickr

You have to be signed in to see my world..for my graphic pictures of moharam and the naga sadhus and maha kumbh..my set on the transgender over 20000 images has been removed by me from public view ,, for personal reasons.

Taking photos and exploring various parts of nature, architecture, food, and people for me, is always a great time to sit with my thoughts and simply think. This morning hope and change was on my mind and this brought emotions of excitement, joy, and fear. For me fear is always present, it isn't necessarily a bad feeling, I actually have learned to embrace it. Fear is telling me that im doing something right because I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and looking at myself honestly. For many years I consumed myself with lies, thievery, and cheating, throughout this time the only person I was lying and cheating with was myself. Im now being mindful of my days, living in each moment and not taking anything for granted. I dont want to project into the future but the thought of it just brings upon anxious anticipation. I love my life, I love my family and my friends. Trying times are times for trying and right now im making it a goal to live by that and not give up hope. With humility and a dash of courage, we can accomplish anything, just remember that action precedes motivation and with each step you take out of yourself, the more smooth your life will roll. So on this day I ask you to try out something new, something you wouldn't call yourself an expert on. Get uncomfortable and remember to not stop moving!!
