a profound truth that humanity has since disregarded to its own detriment. Since the words "humility" and "humble" also derive from humus, it is rather ironic that we should have assigned our species so arrogant a name as Homo sapiens sapiens ("wise wise man") :-)

The building of the church started in 1647 and was finished 40 years later. The pulpet (1739) and the altar (1765) are made by Isak Schullström. The christening funt in wood is made by Ola Eriksson in 1904. His brother Christian Eriksson (one of Swedens most famous sculptors) made the sculpture "The Humility", placed on the north side of the church´s exterior. Christian himself is buried opposite the sculpture.

One day about 2000 years ago a large dogwood growing on the top of the hill of Golgotha was deeply shocked. He witnessed how the wood from a family member was abused: it was used to make the cross on which Jesus then died.
He was deeply ashamed, bowed his crown in humility and decided to stop growing. He mourned for days on end and then turned to God: “Help me, God, to never ever allow our wood to be used again for something so dreadful. Wouldn’t it be better for me and my family members to remain small, so that we can never be abused again like this?” Because the dogwood was so stricken by remorse, God agreed to his request. From that day on dogwoods grow slowly and never reach any great height. They stop growing once they have reached the proportions of a small tree. But he remains strong: his wood is very hard. For his humility God gave him a gift. From that day on the dogwood is one of the first to blossom.

The temple and its gardens are listed as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, and as an UNESCO World Heritage.
The ascending view of the stairs always gives me the positive feeling, pushes me to improve and motivate me to make effort to rise in the life. We should always strive for improvement in life, work, relationship, skills, ability, thoughts, etc. The improvement means not better than others but better than ourselves from our previous level but with humility and not with arrogance.
Violet is a symbol of humility and penance as well as self-reflection.

After a quite a number of years in the patent profession, I still continue to realize with a sense of humility: "The next (independent) claim is always the hardest claim."
Some people in SL need to have a bit of humility and remember that Second LIfe is just a virtual game, that when you log off the game, your RL life returns to being what it was. Be more humble, have more love in your heart and stop thinking that you are better than the others, because all this is an illusion. Kiss♥
