Rolling green hills (which are not quite as green yet due to the time of year) and behind them the rugged and steep peaks of the Wendelstein massif in the Bavarian Alps. A sight full of contrasts that immediately fascinated me.
It feels so good to draw my attention to these wonders of nature, to absorb the beauty and to remain in humility. I'm trapped and at the same time I feel so free. Caught in awe and freed from the need to take sides and formulate judgments.
Sanfte grüne Hügel (die auf Grund der Jahreszeit noch nicht ganz so grün sind) und dahinter die schroffen und steilen Gipfel des Wendelsteinmassivs in den bayrischen Alpen. Ein Anblick voller Gegensätze, der mich sofort begeistert hat.
Es tut so gut meine Aufmerksamkeit auf diese Wunder der Natur zu lenken, die Schöheit in mich aufzunehmen und in Demut zu verharren. Ich bin gefangen und gleichzeit fühle ich mich so befreit. Gefangen in der Erfurcht und befreit von der Ntowendigkeit Partei zu ergreifen und Urteile zu formulieren.

Truly a fantastic place to relax and unwind. Just try it, you won't regret it.
One fine day i had a snap session with him. I make brutal art that day - to be honest, of course i didn´t. As always, I took one trillion snaps and then deleted almost all of them. He really has been so humble and kind, he was very patient with me. He always behaved like a gentelman.
Another time we had a conversation where he talked about not being perfect and facing life as best he can. That impressed me very much, because people in our "perfect world" are afraid of showing weakness and rarely talk about having flaws. I think that says everything about him as the human being.
Without art I would never have met him, so I'm thankful for this moments. His attitude towards life and his way of treating people well shows the truth in his heart. Always reach for the stars, my friend Arnno.

Here he is standing at dawn, like an insect among giants of sandstone that are already standing here bevor humans even found any term to express time. His eyes are wandering across a landscape what is so breathtaking and so multi-faceted that he knows, he will not be able to conceive it completely in his entire life. Still he will try it, over and over again. Because its worth it.
Da steht er nun in der Morgendämmerung, gleich einem Insekt unter Giganten aus Sandstein welche schon hier waren, bevor der Mensch enen Begriff für Zeit gefunden hatte. Er lässt seinen Blick über eine Landschaft schweifen die so atemberaubend und so vielschichtig ist, dass er weiß, er wird sie in seinem ganzen Leben nicht voll erfassen können. Many people know the monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh as the spiritual center of Russian Orthodoxy and a collection of remarkable architectural monuments. But not everyone knows how important he played in the sharp turns of Russian history. And it’s hard to say in which country and how we would live today, if not for this monastery.
St. Sergius taught people primarily love and forgiveness. He himself set an example of humility in the most difficult situations.
Thousands of pilgrims come to the Lavra daily. There are 11 temples in the monastery.
Trinity Church is not the largest in the architectural ensemble of the Lavra, but it is here that the majority of those who came to the monastery are in a hurry. The whole time the temple is open for people to visit, the flow of people going into it does not stop: pilgrims hurry to bow to the relics of the founder of the monastery, St. Sergius.

I'm standing here on the cliffs of Ponta do Rosto on Madeira, 350 meters above sea level and I'm just overwhelmed by the sight. This is the first time I'm beginning to see the potential of this island and it won't be the last. I feel the salty wind on my face and hear the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the rocks. An indescribable feeling. It doesn't bother the photographer in me that much that the lighting conditions are anything but optimal.
This is a lesser known spot on the São Lourenço Peninsula that we went to after seeing the crowds elsewhere. We shall return there in two days, at sunrise.
When I am in such places, a feeling of humility always overcomes me. I am nothing compared to the huge cliffs of rock below me or the hundreds of kilometers of ocean in front of me. A grain of sand in the desert. This helps me a lot to take myself and my own issues a little less seriously and importantly.
Ich stehe hier an der Steilküste des Ponta do Rosto auf Madeira 350 Meter über dem Meer und bin einfach nur überwältigt von diesem Anblick. Das ist das erste Mal, dass ich das Potential dieser Insel zu erahnen beginne und es ist nicht das letzte Mal. Ich spüre den salzigen Wind im Gesicht und höre den Atlantischen Ozean mit Macht gegen die Felsen prallen. Ein unbeschreibliches Gefühl. Da stört es den Fotografen in mir auch nicht so sehr, dass die Lichtverhältnisse alles andere als optimal sind.
Wir befinden uns hier auf einem weniger bekannten Spot auf der Halbinsel São Lourenço den wir aufgesucht haben nachdem wir die Menschenmengen an der anderen Stelle gesehen haben. Dorthin werden wir in zwei Tagen zurück kehren, zum Sonnenaufgang.
Wenn ich an solchen Orten bin überkommt mich jedesmal ein Gefühl von Demut. Ich bin ein Nichts im Verhältnis zu dem rießigen Felsenklippen unter mir oder den hunderten Kilometern Ozean vor mir. Ein Sandkorn in der Wüste. Das hilft mir sehr dabei mich und meine eigenen Themen etwas weniger ernst und wichtig zu nehmen.

Each fall in Alaska we would hike to search and photograph the quintessential rutting moose. (Apart from those that visited the suburbs.) As we returned home on this rainy, foggy day, we spotted a bull moose at an unexpected home (not ours). Excitedly I leaped out to try to capture this handsome, large beast. Paid little attention to his possibly unhappy position of his ears or my shutter speed.
But I post this in all humility and happiness as I recall the moments of fun and joy. In all my encounters with these magnificent ungulates, not one charged me. Lucky.
I'm recalling joy as I avoid news. We must save our country and global emergency and fires and Black lives and human decency and contain Covid!

The building of the church started in 1647 and was finished 40 years later. The pulpet (1739) and the altar (1765) are made by Isak Schullström. The christening funt in wood is made by Ola Eriksson in 1904. His brother Christian Eriksson (one of Swedens most famous sculptors) made the sculpture "The Humility", placed on the north side of the church´s exterior. Christian himself is buried opposite the sculpture.

One day about 2000 years ago a large dogwood growing on the top of the hill of Golgotha was deeply shocked. He witnessed how the wood from a family member was abused: it was used to make the cross on which Jesus then died.
He was deeply ashamed, bowed his crown in humility and decided to stop growing. He mourned for days on end and then turned to God: “Help me, God, to never ever allow our wood to be used again for something so dreadful. Wouldn’t it be better for me and my family members to remain small, so that we can never be abused again like this?” Because the dogwood was so stricken by remorse, God agreed to his request. From that day on dogwoods grow slowly and never reach any great height. They stop growing once they have reached the proportions of a small tree. But he remains strong: his wood is very hard. For his humility God gave him a gift. From that day on the dogwood is one of the first to blossom.
