Truly a fantastic place to relax and unwind. Just try it, you won't regret it.
An unusual obelisk stands on the central square of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. It was established in 1792 by the famous scholar and church leader - Metropolitan Plato (Levshin). On each side of the obelisk is a medallion with a text explaining exactly what role Laurus played in a given era ...
Many people know the monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh as the spiritual center of Russian Orthodoxy and a collection of remarkable architectural monuments. But not everyone knows how important he played in the sharp turns of Russian history. And it’s hard to say in which country and how we would live today, if not for this monastery.
St. Sergius taught people primarily love and forgiveness. He himself set an example of humility in the most difficult situations.
Thousands of pilgrims come to the Lavra daily. There are 11 temples in the monastery.
Trinity Church is not the largest in the architectural ensemble of the Lavra, but it is here that the majority of those who came to the monastery are in a hurry. The whole time the temple is open for people to visit, the flow of people going into it does not stop: pilgrims hurry to bow to the relics of the founder of the monastery, St. Sergius.
I'm standing here on the cliffs of Ponta do Rosto on Madeira, 350 meters above sea level and I'm just overwhelmed by the sight. This is the first time I'm beginning to see the potential of this island and it won't be the last. I feel the salty wind on my face and hear the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the rocks. An indescribable feeling. It doesn't bother the photographer in me that much that the lighting conditions are anything but optimal.
This is a lesser known spot on the São Lourenço Peninsula that we went to after seeing the crowds elsewhere. We shall return there in two days, at sunrise.
When I am in such places, a feeling of humility always overcomes me. I am nothing compared to the huge cliffs of rock below me or the hundreds of kilometers of ocean in front of me. A grain of sand in the desert. This helps me a lot to take myself and my own issues a little less seriously and importantly.

a profound truth that humanity has since disregarded to its own detriment. Since the words "humility" and "humble" also derive from humus, it is rather ironic that we should have assigned our species so arrogant a name as Homo sapiens sapiens ("wise wise man") :-)

The building of the church started in 1647 and was finished 40 years later. The pulpet (1739) and the altar (1765) are made by Isak Schullström. The christening funt in wood is made by Ola Eriksson in 1904. His brother Christian Eriksson (one of Swedens most famous sculptors) made the sculpture "The Humility", placed on the north side of the church´s exterior. Christian himself is buried opposite the sculpture.
Life’s a waiting game
When we gonna see that life is happening?
And that every single body bleeding on its knees is an abomination
And every natural being is making communication
And we’re just sparks, tiny parts of a bigger constellation
We’re miniscule molecules that make up one body
You see the tragedy and pain of a person that you’ve never met
Is present in your nightmares, in your pull towards despair
And the sickness of the culture, and the sickness in our hearts
Is a sickness that’s inflicted by this distance that we share
Now, it was our bombs that started this war
And now it rages far away
So we dismiss all its victims as strangers
But they’re parents and children made dogs by the danger
Existence is futile, so we don’t engage
But it was our boats that sailed, killed, stole, and made frail
It was our boots that stamped
It was our courts that jailed
And it was our fuckin’ banks that got bailed
It was us who turned bleakly away
Looked back down at our nails and our wedding plans
In the face of a full-force gale, we said
“Well, it’s not up to us to make this place a better land
It’s not up to us to make this place a better land.”
Justice, justice, recompense, humility
Trust is, trust is something we will never see
Till love is unconditional
The myth of the individual has left us disconnected, lost, and pitiful

Aloha
A candle in the dark, a wineglass filled with our promise
I will always stay by your side and protect you because you've always believed in me
Drumknott
The only thing I've been dreaming of is eternal happiness with you
It doesn't have to be fancy or perfect, the only thing I want is you
Don't worry (l believe) Always (l believe) I won't forget this moment
In my arms (l believe) your smile will never lose its light
Cause your love is so sweet, you are my everything
I'm not just saying this because I'm happy
I will never change, I won't change
I'll only have eyes for you
You're the light of my life, you're the one in my life
Even if I lose everything,
I will never regret it, and keep loving you
With the everlasting love in my heart
From this moment on, the most important person in my life isn't me, it's you.
I can't show my true feelings with words, but I love only you.
Like friends, or like lovers,
Until my last breath, I will only love you.
With the mind of one, and an unshakable trust in each other,
I hope we'll comfort each other in misery and celebrate happiness together
I promise you (I believe) when things get hard (I believe) I'll protect you
In my arms (l believe) your smile will never lose its light
Cause your love is so sweet, you are my everything
I'm not just saying this because I'm happy
I will never change, I won't change
I'll only have eyes for you
You're the light of my life, you're the one in my life
Even if I lose everything,
I will never regret it, and keep loving you
With the everlasting love in my heart

""Near the teahouse you find a famous and unique stone water basin, with water continually flowing for ritual purification. This is the Ryōan-ji Tsukubai, which translates as "crouch"; because of the low height of the basin, the user must bend over to use it, in a sign of reverence and humility.
The shape mimics an ancient Chinese coin, the sentiment is the opposite of materialism.
Tsukubai are usually of stone, and are often provided with a small ladle, ready for use. A supply of water may be provided via a bamboo pipe, called a kakei.
The famous tsukubai shown here stands in the grounds of the Ryoanji Temple (龍安寺 or 竜安寺, Ryōanji), Kyoto, Japan in Kyoto, and was donated by the feudal lord Tokugawa Mitsukuni.
The kanji written on the surface of the stone are without significance when read alone. If each is read in combination with 口 (kuchi) - the shape of the central bowl - then the characters become 吾, 唯, 足, 知 which translates literally as "I only know plenty" (吾 = ware = I, 唯 = tada = only, 足 = taru = plenty, 知 = shiru = know).
The underlying meaning, variously translated as "what one has is all one needs", or "learn only to be content" reflects the basic anti-materialistic teachings of Buddhism."""
Information - WiKi
""Tsukubai has an unique inscription; if it is not raining, you see four Chinese characters on each side of it and it means: "I only learn to be content" or “I am content with what I am”.
He who learns only to be contented is spiritually rich, while the one who doesn't learn to be contented is spiritually poor even if he is materially wealthy. This concept is important in the Zen spirit.""
Information - from the brochure
The temple and its gardens are listed as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, and as an UNESCO World Heritage.
The ascending view of the stairs always gives me the positive feeling, pushes me to improve and motivate me to make effort to rise in the life. We should always strive for improvement in life, work, relationship, skills, ability, thoughts, etc. The improvement means not better than others but better than ourselves from our previous level but with humility and not with arrogance.

Übermut bringt Krieg,
Krieg bringt Armut,
Armut macht Demut,
Demut macht wieder Frieden.
