A church and monastery were founded here around 1350 by the Umiliati (Humiliated) order and initially dedicated to Saint Christopher, the patron saint of the gondoliers. Tiberio da Parma, the leader of the Order, and said to have been responsible for the original design of the church, is buried here. During the building of this church an unfinished statue of the Madonna, made by Giovanni de Santis (but also said to have fallen from heaven) and kept in an orchard (orto) nearby following its rejection by the Prior of Santa Maria Formosa, for which church it had been carved, started getting a reputation for glowing and working miracles. The church bought the statue, with the intention of thereby increasing offerings towards the cost of the building work, and on 18th June 1377 it was placed on the high altar. Since then the church has been known as Madonna dell'Orto. More at: www.churchesofvenice.co.uk/cannaregio.htm#madellort

THE WHITE NATIONALIST PARTY IS KILLING 'MERIKKKA, VOL. 1, NO. 1: 'Idiots', 'Clown Show' GOP Implodes, Fox News Melts Down, Trump Humiliated I Credit: Ari Melber I MSNBC I YouTube I Jan 4, 2023 I Full Story: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUwhvxNU6D8
MSNBC: It’s an epic disaster for the House Republicans as Rep. Kevin McCarthy loses an 11th vote for Speaker of the House. Fox News anchors are now panning the GOP for this debacle and hitting them hard. The speaker fight now ensnaring Trump with many House Republicans ignoring his call to “vote for Kevin” with one openly mocking him as “sad!” Political strategist Chai Komanduri joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber on “The Beat” saying "I think Fox has an agenda here and it's a Ron DeSantis agenda."
During the Jazz Age:
Daisy felt she had humiliated herself by challenging the press and then so completely trusting The New Yorker's Vespa Salvaggio.
She knew, however, that vengeance was useless.
Yes, she could ask her friend, Mayor Jimmy Walker, to have Vespa harrassed--electricity turned off, garbage not picked up--accidentally on purpose, of course; but she felt even raising the topic would be the act of a child--and would give joy to Vespa that she had so rattled Daisy.
Daisy also knew that she had connections who could get Vespa barred from the most desirable restaurants at which the woman no doubt flaunted her wicked sense of self-importance.
Vespa probably relished the misery she inflicted on others and their impotent revenge only reaffirmed who had the upper hand.
Tom Buchanan, on the other hand, thought differently. Hiring thugs to throw bricks through Vespa's windows would be mild in his eyes.
"This is MY name that you and this savage are dragging through the mud. You both need a good beating!"
Nick Carraway knew intuitively that Tom hit Daisy. Tom's brutality was more massive than his wealth.
"I can't dare risk even seeing him--alone or with a divorce lawyer," Daisy thought, so afraid of what he might do.
"I may be foolish but I am not fool."
Thus, Daisy felt that all she could do for the time being was mentally to thank Vespa for the painful lesson she administered that knocked out much of Daisy's blinding arrogance.
"I'll show everyone that I'm not ashamed, horrible press, gossip, and all."
"After all, I'm still Daisy."

Humiliation seems crucial to group bonding. I'm often humiliated, but rarely welcomed into a group. The worst of all worlds, perhaps.
Monday - humiliation
Tuesday - suffocation
Wednesday - condescension
Thursday - is pathetic
By Friday life has killed me
Why did you give me
So much desire?
When there is nowhere I can go
To offload this desire
And why did you give me
So much love
In a loveless world
When there's no one I can turn to
To unlock all this love
And why did you stick me in
Self-deprecating bones and skin
Jesus - do you hate me?
Do you hate me? Do you hate me?
Do you hate me? Do you hate me?
Do you hate me?

It's been a while since I humiliated myself in my own photostream, so I think now's the time for a little payback. Of course, it's hard to catch yourself in a candid moment, and I hate posing.
The latest installment of Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Black Dossier, is out now. It rocks. Unfortunately, the last 10 pages are in old-school 3-d, and these are the necessary lenses that came with the book.
The LoEG is a damn good read. Go buy the first collection now. Pretend the film never happened. If you've never read Alan Moore before, you should also check out Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and his 40 issue run on Swamp Thing.
Warning: If you are of the opinion that comics are for children, these books may shock you. If you are also unable to view naked people, blood, or carnage, these books are probably not for you. But, then again, if you're like that, neither is Shakespeare. Exercise your own judgment.
As you can see, getting The Black Dossier out of the basement of MI-6 (which looks, surprisingly, like my basement) is challenging and fraught with peril.
Even if you have your hair done up in a ponytail.
Ever since I was an analogue photographer I spent a fortune at this studio getting my big salon prints done here I am their oldest loyal customer ..
But today I had a very bad experience I gave 2 prints 0f 4by 6 single prints and 4 very small prints to them I was charged Rs 120 I was in a rush I paid the entire amount no bill was given to me I had paid separately for my passport size photos Rs 60 ,
I went to collect my prints in the evening the lady on the counter handed my prints I asked for the break up she said Rs20 a print when it is Rs 4 I got angry and told her I always paid Rs 4 and the guy called Chirag who works there started to threaten me shout and humiliate me I am a senior citizen station I thought of going to the police station but I called up one of their bosses Kalpesh Shah who is at Borivili I told him the entire episode she returned Rs 20 back but I was shocked how many people she must be cheating at the expense of their gullibility ,,I dont think her bosses would want this kind of money because I know them they are highly upright people I have known them from the time they started this studio.
This is the first time I felt insulted I told Kalpesh I was going to post this episode on Twitter .
Why should I give Rs 16 to them when I can give the same amount to a poor beggar on the street ..why should I be cheated and I am a photographer also a life member All India Photographic Trade Association..
I mean how can bosses keep staff like this why dont thy check the CCTV and see his threats to me ,, or will they push it under the carpet of their studio.

The kids recording the incident were looking to humiliate what they thought would be an easy target. They thought, “We’ve done this for years. Why haven’t we made his humiliation reach a wider audience?” “Imagine how awesome our friends will think we are.” “This will be great! He won’t fight back, we are clearly his betters.”
But the gods were listening.
So they approached him, surrounded him. Thought to contain him. Their first mistake.
Humiliation of a Pious Man
In the tenth year of the Trojan War, Agamemnon captured Chryseis, daughter of Chryses, a priest of Apollo, and intended to keep the girl as a prize, take her home, and turn her into both a slave and a concubine. Chryses, a loving father if compared to the king, came then to see Agamemnon and, having blessed the whole army, offered a generous ransom for her daughter's freedom. The troops applauded the priest, but Agamemnon was not a man inclined to let his will be curbed. So he denied Chryses' request and, in an arrogant display of authority, threatened the old man, who left the Achaean camp humiliated.
Apollo's Wrath
The best time to address the gods is when humans refuse to listen, so Chryses prayed to Apollo as soon as he found himself alone. He asked the god to let the Achaeans pay through his golden arrows the tears he was shedding. That is why Apollo, who otherwise is known as the bright one, on hearing the prayer and learning the outrage his priest had suffered, came down from Olympus, as they say, darker than night, letting his arrows rain on the Achaean camp, which means that an epidemic spread in the army, taking many lives.
Sorry for the tiny size, but these were dancers from the Universoul Circus performing in front of City Hall today, where I was innocently attempting to have lunch. They dragged me on stage and humiliated me by making me dance (sober!) in front of the crowd to a 70s song I didn't know. I got free tickets though!
On November 11, 2024, chilling symbols of disdain—a milk bottle and a forlorn Kraft container—cast a shadow outside the UNHCR office, epitomizing relentless degradation. 😞 The night before, two men in their thirties dismissed my clipboard’s plea for dignified responses, highlighting the mockery over empathy. Chronic starvation steals my strength, as scoffs supplant dignity amid the UN’s indifference. ♂️💔 Trapped in a decade of inequity, each affront deepens cries for justice. My fractured, captive reality in Greece pleads achingly for empathy and relief, demanding the UN acknowledges and acts against ceaseless suffering with resolve and compassion. 🙏🌍 #InvisibleCaptivity #SilentSuffering #BlindGaze #Politics #Immigration
After the pain and humiliation of falling for 1 Brimstone butterfly I had an unbelievable experience the other day when walking to the Mere along the back of the zoo when i I encountered no fewer than 8 Brimstone in quick succession. The pursuit of a photo ended up taking an hour and because of the warm weather none were prepared to give me the open wing shot.
I accidentally got a shot when the eigth Brimstone fluttered its wings

Ok, so this is how I'm feeling today. I haven't checked in for days because of a recent humiliating and horrible thing that has happened to our family. I won't say more but lets just say last week was a bad week.
On the positive side, well, I guess I'm thankful that things are going pretty well with Tanner, I adore my husband and we are best friends and in spite of the deep and difficult places of being a family and a mom, I adore my children. I'm 53 pounds thinner, I'm strong and healthy, my hair is grown out and I have many gifts and talents. So in spite of it all I am a person who can see the blessings and I appreciate them so much.
And as I always say concerning the challenges.... This too shall pass!
Today Paul and I took a really good walk and gave it a lot of energy, we enjoyed it and are glad we did. Tomorrow I'll be back at the pool. We also got the call that our new lodge pole bed is ready, not sure when we can get away to pick it up though. (It's in another town and will take a few hours out of the day to get it.) I'm thinking about setting my easel and pastels up so I can do some art in my studio even if it's just in short bursts. Also, I've started the embroidery on my second pair of jeans, I think it's going to look really cool.
I'm sorry that I've not responded to comments for a while, I hope I can do that this week but I'm not sure.

Humiliation comes in many forms...such as ornaments on my mommy's Christmas tree.

Weltkrieg: Waffenstillstandsverhandlungen mit Frankreich im Wald von Compiegne.- Als Berichterstatter der amerikanische Journalist William L. Shirer (r.), von 1925-1940 Korrespondent verschiedener USA-Zeitungen und Rundfunkstationen in Berlin.
The American journalist+broadcaster William Shirer was not supposed to be at the site of the Armistice at all, all other foreign journalists had been sent back to Berlin. Shirer had the help of a German unsympathetic to Hitler to get to the site and to witness the proceedings. He went on to outwit the Germans who permitted him to make a recorded radio broadcast of the Armistice terms, that they insisted would be played only after the Germans had made their own broadcast. In a spectacular scoop he managed to get a live link to CBS while he was in the studio waiting to make the recording, persuaded the engineer present that he had permission to do this, and broadcast the news a full six hours ahead of the Germans.
when i am really sick, i try to see if i'll be able to shower before i disrobe so to speak. this day-day 18/365, absolutely no way. after just sliding down the wall and at times trying to pull myself up and failing, miserably, i called for my mom and had her bring my laptop. i wanted to show this (thanks to macbook's photobooth!) process with all the humiliation it entails. it is very difficult to show these--so please be kind. xxx
I love women very much, but even if I love to wear women's underwear and girdles, I don't want to simulate femininity and I don't have transsexual ambitions. (I don't own men's underwear since a long time.) I'm just a fat, effeminate loser, so I expose myself wearing bra, garter belt and women's stockings to my public humiliation. I do this, as seen in some pictures, also in the street and in parks.
