Grizzlies comparing their jaws is a sign of assertiveness. These cubs will start doing this, then one will swat the other with an oversize paw and then it blows up into a full blown wrestling match.

It seems that animals know just how far they can go before one or the other gets hurt. I've seen them take a scratch on the nose or lose a clump of hair but usually they roll around, try out a variety of wrestling holds and then fifteen minutes later they go back to eating or just sit down exhausted near their mother.

Taken on a very pleasant May Day in downtown Pittsburgh from the 6th Street bridge, looking up the Allegheny river (E - NE direction). The Allegheny river meets the Monongahela river (at my back when I took this) and they form the Ohio river, which will eventually become the Mississippi river and will end up in the Gulf of Mexico at New Orleans (many miles downriver).

In the foreground is the 7th Street bridge, behind it is the 9th Street bridge and behind that the rail bridge (black). The white building at right is the David L. Lawrence convention center.

As for the answer to the question: "How Many Bridges?" the answer is "Pittsburgh has 446 bridges" !

Oh, Beautiful Mountains, How You Stretch On Forever and Ever

The reflections you cast on waters can only add to the wonder

as you rise so high above

So as I open my eyes in wide eyed amazement,

I will shed a tear

But not because I am sad.

No, because I am so wonderfully happy.

The tear just have to come out in gratitude.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Denali State Park while walking the Byers Lake Trail. With this image I pulled back on the focal length, going with a more ultra-wide angle view with my Nikkor lens. This was a view looking to the northeast across the lake with its reflections to mountain peaks beyond.

With the sunlight and the haze from the recent forest fires mixing together that morning, I knew I wouldn't be able to capture much beyond a more minimalist look, even working with the shutter speed. I was able to do some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.

I ventured to a portrait photo shoot class, after being really self-quarantining for 4+ months. A needed boost of creativity.

As soon as I saw this I knew exactly how I would edit this.

So I attack it with my camera and then when I was done I sat down to start trying out the bubbles and I noticed there was ACTUALLY a lifeguard on duty and he was watching me the whole time.

There is rarely ever a lifeguard on duty. But I guess I should have realized it since the boat was out. I'm sure he didn't care anyways. I just hate when I realize later that someone was watching me and I didn't notice.

How now brown cow" is a phrase used in elocution teaching to demonstrate rounded vowel sounds. Each "ow" sound in the phrase represents the diphthong. Although spelled "ow" in these four words, this same diphthong is also spelled "ou". Some examples of these homophonic are the English words "house", "blouse", "noun", and "cloud". The use of the phrase "how now brown cow" in teaching elocution can be traced back to at least 1926.

The phrase how now itself is an archaic greeting or interrogative expression

I've noticed Mistletoe growing increasingly in UK trees, so I read up about it and learnt that it's due in part to an influx of continental blackcaps from Germany that have started overwintering in Britain, with many thousands now spending their winters here.

'Blackcaps are migratory warblers that are becoming regular winter visitors to our bird tables. Berries, including those of mistletoe, are an essential part of their diet. On eating the white flesh of the mistletoe berry, the birds wipe their bills on twigs and branches, leaving behind the seed. If the seed is deposited on a host tree and manages to take hold, a mistletoe plant might germinate on the branch. It seems that blackcaps are more efficient at spreading mistletoe seeds than other birds, such as the mistle thrush, which also feed on the berries.' - www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2018/12/where-does-mistleto....

'According to the Anglo-Saxons, kissing under the mistletoe was connected to the legend of Freya, Norse Goddess of love, beauty and fertility. According to legend, a man had to kiss any young girl who, without realizing it, found herself accidentally under a sprig of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling.' www.thewhitegoddess.co.uk/articles/mythology_folklore/mis....

Well, think I'm gonna take another mental journey. When ever I get a little stir crazy and dream of far off places, for some reason, I mentally head to Paris. Its a great place to home base a European trip. City of lights.....a magical place. This week, I think I'm gonna post a few images that are from a 2007 trip that I reprocessed a little bit.

Enjoy!

How many times i couln’t sleep

Cause i saw you dien’ in my dreams

How many times you lied to me

Raised my hopes and i belived

So many times you went away

Even thou you promest me to stay

You always said soon it'll be ok

But till today, nothing’s changed

And now i know, It’s too late

You lost your soul, You’ll never change

This strength of mine, Wasn’t strong enough

You choosed his life, Instead of love

And now i know, It’s too late

You lost your soul, You’ll never change

This streath of mine, Wasn’t strong enough

You choosed his life, Instead of us

How many times they said i’m a fool

But it’s your child i have faith in you

I always thought one day i would realize

Leaving him reatcin paradise

But now i know it was just a dream

Now i know it will never be

a beautiful completed family

you just exist in my dreams

And now i know, It’s too late

You lost your soul, You’ll never change

This strength of mine, Wasn’t strong enough

You choosed his life, Instead of love
