... ensure everything in your frame is acceptably sharp?
Do you focus to infinity? Do you focus on the bottom third of the frame? Or do you have a cheat-sheet with a list of hyperfocal distances based on the effective focal length and aperture?
Mind sharing with me?
Archiving and I'm running low! This was one of my luckiest sky days ever to me. Just one right after the other. This day I took over 60 shots in 30 minutes. God was puttin' on the prettiest show up there I'd ever seen. Here's another shot the same day.

These twelve images, out of about 150 frame sequence I captured, shows the basics of a great grey owl as it eats a dietary staple, a vole.
1. This great grey owl has a vole trapped in its talons down in the grass and is now looking around for anything threatening.
2. Proof that it has indeed captured the vole.
3. Giving the rodent a little squeeze to damage it sufficiently so that it dies or becomes otherwise inert.
4. Next is to reposition the vole so it can be swallowed headfirst.
5. The first part of swallowing smaller prey whole is to lean over, quickly open the beak, and thrust the head down over it.
6. Typically, this motion is done two to three times.
7. Once about halfway in, the owl will typically tip its head back a bit, and open wide.
8. Between gravity and swallowing actions, the prey is pulled fully into the throat.
9. Well, except for the tail and possibly a leg, as in this case.
10. Job done! But what to do with that dried grass?
11. Open wide, give the head a shake and swallow a few more times to try to ingest or dislodge the grass.
12. Finally, give a satisfied smirk to the photographer. That last bit of grass can be dealt with later.
And that, my Flickr Friends, is how it is done. You are now fully versed in the process, so feel free to try this at your convenience at home.
Looking back to the starting point of our walk. Hill is relative I suppose - a feature of that size would not be named elsewhere

That we are looking for knowledge about how the universe runs, almost the whole of our life. When we think we understand the universe, we die. The other moments we just enjoy this earth...

I popped down to to see the Hobby Family today, there was a lot of flying going on, Mum seemed to be teaching the young to hunt. One of the young is very confident, one is till very much learning (see tomorrow).
I visit Monrepos not only because of the squirrels but because of the birds there too. This Great Tit looks as if he posed nicely but they never sit still for more than a second, even if I bribe them with birdseed. :)

It seems impossible to explain with words, so pictures help try to express how it feels to live this experience.
I have become very fascinated by digital pinhole photography. This image was created with a modified pinhole body cap. I think I’m drawn to this type of photography because I feel it relates to my life and it seems to teach me far beyond photography. There are strict limitations that can drastically alter how images are captured and the final outcome of the photos, there is a lack of clarity compared to how I normally capture images with a lens, it’s difficult to predict exactly how the image will look and beauty and meaning can be found in the process and the final photo. It gives me a chance to practice embracing the unfamiliar, change, finding beauty in imperfection and growing in new ways. And the look of the images reminds me of how it feels when the effects of trauma cause me to question reality and myself, feel terror, feel isolated, alone, deep sadness, dissociation, body memories and a range of other indescribably challenging experiences. When my voice is stolen and I cannot speak or find adequate words to describe what I face I am thankful I can relate my experiences to what I see in pinhole photography rather than “keeping it all inside.”

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account
I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.
If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:
Many thanks for your support.

I can look older in real life, I guess. :D
In our village, no letterbox can escape the irresistible pull of the Christmas period. I have been living here for 13 years now, and I should be old enough to no longer be surprised by this tradition (yes, but why letterboxes and not, say, telephone junction boxes, bins, substations and the like?). Still, it is a nice ritual and it is face-changing - that of the village and my own. Fuji X-Pro3.
This was my view out the front window of a tour bus. The Manhattan Bridge joins Brooklyn with Manhattan. For a proper perspective you can see it here just to the north of the Brooklyn Bridge
This shot is from June 2008. At that time a London - Edinburgh set would, after the arrival at Edinburgh, work to the down loop at Prestonpans due to platform shortages at Waverley. I positioned myself at the east end of Prestonpans Station to capture the set in the loop and the 1500 from Edinburgh passing it. To my delight as I waited for the 1500 to pass , another set appeared heading north ! This was the only shot I took, nearly all in line !

The expressions on the dog's faces are hilarious. One is asking, "How much farther?" - while the other dog is saying, "I'm not going, I'm pooped." (Notice that he lost a bootie somewhere along the way.)
The Copper Basin 300 Sled Dog race will begin next weekend. This year we will have several well-known mushers participating in a field of 37, so it should be fun to follow. If you are interested - I've included a link below.
