A host of media and television personalities joined Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan last night for the launch of MasterChef Australia 2011.

They were joined by this year’s contestants -whose names and identities are still under embargo- along with Maggie Beer, Adriano Zumbo, Neil Perry, Justin North amongst other celebrity chefs.

Gary Mehigan thanked sponsors, Network TEN and FremantleMedia Australia. “You have to admit when you watch all the other shows on telly, the production values on this show are second to none,” he said. “It’s the best looking show on television.”

The series kicks off on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island when a giant one tonne mystery box arrives suspended from a helicopter. Other challenges see MasterChef travelling to the pit of the Sunrise Dam mine in the West Australian outback, two kilometres out to sea on the longest jetty in the Southern hemisphere in Busselton, as well as heading to the vineyards of Margaret River. Rick Stein meets contestants for a masterclass in Kuala Lumpur, and closer to home the contestants cook on the beautiful beaches of Cronulla.

Mehigan said, “This year the contestants are honest, earthy, upfront kind of people. The sort of people you want around you that make you smile, make you laugh, make the hair stand on the back of your neck. There will be some tears. And when they’ve stopped there will be some more. But if there’s one thing you have to remember, it’s that this is the MasterChef series you will remember. It is incredible.”

Matt Preston and George Calombaris then introduced Matt Moran, who joins as a regular guest judge.

MasterChef begins 7:30pm Sunday May 1st.

Story Extravaganza 2014 was held at New Hanover County Northeast Public Library on May 3, 2014.

News Release:

(New Hanover County, N.C.) - New Hanover County Library (NHCL) is excited to host the fourth annual Story Extravaganza at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Northeast Regional Library located at 1241 Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington. The storytelling festival for children features 15 free performances and three free activities, all based on popular children’s picture books.

The David Paynter Assembly Room is the main stage for the performances, where a new act starts every seven minutes. Expect music, drama, comedy, and audience participation!

The first set starts at 9:15 a.m. and features performances by Dodie Guardia, Mary Kleinfeldt, Darrell Rackley, the NHCPL Rap Club, and No Sleeves Magic. Mr. Scooter is emcee.

Come back at 10:20 a.m. after a 30-minute break to stretch, visit with performers, and check out the activities. Stories interpreted by Island Montessori, Terry Rollins, Zach Hanner, Max Nuñez, and Beth Peddle are in the second set.

Set number three starts at 11:55 a.m., after another half-hour intermission. You’ll hear from Margaret Miles, the Performance Club Kids, Jocelyn Beam-Walson, Mr. Scooter Hayes, and Memory Lane Comics.

Three activities will go on inside the library during the morning:

Cape Fear Museum will sponsor bug-related science activities in the Children’s Room. These include the chance to act out the life cycle of a mosquito and to see what Byron Barton’s picture book world of Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! looks like through compound eyeglasses.

Children’s Museum of Wilmington will offer pirate-themed arts and crafts in the Watkins Room, based on June Sobel’s pirate ABC book, Shiver Me Letters. Make your own pirate hat, spy scope and treasure map!

Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell inspires the story walk in the Oak Room. Kids open crates and boxes from the zoo while parents read the story aloud! Will they find live animals?

Parents attending Story Extravaganza will get lots of tips and ideas about ways to help kids develop important literacy skills, along with a list of the featured books. Preparing students to be successful in a 21st century world is one of New Hanover County’s strategic goals, and NHC librarians know that kids whose parents have fun reading, singing, telling, and acting out stories with them at home are off to a great start.

Story Extravaganza is planned and presented by New Hanover County Public Library, with funding from the Friends of the Library. The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required.

For more information about Story Extravaganza call Scooter Hayes at New Hanover County’s Myrtle Grove Library at 910-798-6398.

On 8th March 2019, ESCP Europe's London Campus hosted its Bicentenary Student Gala.

Staged at 8 Northumberland Avenue, the event attracted record numbers for what is one of the highlights of the Campus' celebrations in this landmark year.

10 different degree programmes were represented on a night that welcomed 400 guests.

This year, the ESCP Europe community celebrated not only the Bicentenary of the School, but also International Women’s Day. Guest of honour was ESCP Europe’s Emeritus Professor Joëlle Le Vourc’h, the first female student admitted to the School in 1970. A short video telling Joëlle’s story was screened and is available online. Previously, Joëlle was interviewed by the Financial Times.

The Gala drew attention to the School’s achievements over the past 12 months and the success of its diverse student community. Host and Campus Dean, Professor Simon Mercado gave summary to these achievements and highlighted The Times Higher Education UK Business School of the Year Award for 2018.

Two sponsored awards were presented to students: Student Company Consultancy Project of the Year (for work done by MBA in International Management students on behalf of Orange), and London Student Society of the Year (awarded to Call On’U London for their leadership work linked to the National Model United Nations Conference). Prize sponsor funds from Bel and BlueSky PR will go to student nominated charities.

Guests unanimously agreed that the Gala was a huge success, with many already looking forward to next year's event.
