On 9th March 2018, ESCP Europe's London School and Campus hosted its 13th Annual Gala Dinner Dance.
Staged at The Landmark London five-star hotel, the event attracted record numbers for what is a highlight of the Campus' annual programme and calendar.
With 10 different degree programmes represented and over 350 guests, focus was placed on the School's achievements over the preceding 12 months and the success of its diverse student community.
A highlight of the evening was the award for London Student Society of the Year based on a student vote linked to four core values: Student Life, Community Building, Creativity and ESCP Europe Spirit. The award was shared by the Eventures Association-Regatta and UNITED, the London arm of the diplomatic society that organises the School's participation in the Model UN conference in New York. Both teams won a case of fine wine, generously donated by Tannin & Oak in West Hampstead.
In presenting the evening's awards, Prof. Mercado, Dean of the London Campus, also highlighted two other Societies for their activism and initiative throughout the year: Cheer Up, the society campaigning for patients with cancer; and the Women in Finance Society, who we celebrated on our Facebook page to coincide with International Women's Day on 8th March.
Guests unanimously agreed that the Gala was a huge success, with many already looking forward to next year's event.

CAMP ZAMA, Japan – A genie, a gorilla, an astronaut, Jack Sparrow and even Freddy Krueger paid a visit to the home of Army Command Sgt. Maj. Eric C. Dostie, command sergeant major, U.S. Army Japan, for a Halloween celebration Oct. 23, 2015, in Camp Zama, Japan.
The Dostie family treated their costumed guests with a home cooked meal, specialty drinks and traditional Halloween treats. Dostie and his wife also organized games for the group that included stacking plastic cups and shaking ping pong balls out of tissue boxes. Even Dostie's five-year old daughter participated in the friendly competition by awarding the best male and female costumes of the night.
“I hosted this party to help our senior NCO leadership to unwind after a few stressful weeks preparing for major missions and exercises” said Dostie who greeted his guests in pharaoh's clothing, “These celebrations remind us that our command is a close-knit family that enjoys the little tricks and treats in life.”

The Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble. In ancient times it was used to host the athletic portion of the Panathenaic Games in honour of the Goddess Athena. During classical times the stadium had wooden seating. It was remade in marble by the archon Lycurgus in 329 BC and was enlarged and renovated by Herodes Atticus in 140 AD, to a seated capacity of 50,000. The remnants of the ancient structure were excavated and refurbished for the revival of the Olympic Games. The stadium was refurbished a second time in 1895 for the 1896 Olympics.
The stadium was built long before dimensions for athletics venues were standardized and its track and layout follow the ancient hairpin-like model. It can seat about 80,000 spectators on 50 rows of marble steps.

I trawled the old Bristol thread on 12oz to collecto some Ckone photos for a memorial page in NotGuilty 7, but decided to share them here also.
Carolina and Salvador were our hosts and not only very kindly showed us their project but we share a great meal with them, and of course the pisco tasting.
We tried Quebranta, Acholado and Italia. Pisco is a destilled made of grape made in Peru and a great spiritous drink. It can be used in cocktails or straight.

OBJETIVOS: La educación teniendo el arte como eje y como lenguaje común entre personas de diferentes culturas, razas, clases sociales, condiciones económicas, etc.
ESTRATEGIAS DE TRABAJO: Trabajamos de manera no explícita. Nuestra casa estuvo abierta desde un principio (hace 15 años) y salíamos mucho también a dibujar al campo. La gente de la zona empezó a conocernos, los niños y jóvenes se acercaban y nos pedían dibujar con nosotros. Por contagio los chicos empezaron a aprender unos de otros, llegaron jóvenes de Lima para hacer máscaras, tejido en telar y simplemente los chicos se pasaban la voz y se acercaban para aprender. Los talleres se van haciendo de forma espontánea y unos a otros nos vamos apoyando. Es importantísimo para nosotros cultivar la confianza y un ambiente familiar, de manera que se vaya creando un sentimiento de pertenencia.
BENEFICIARIOS: Trabajamos en nuestra propia casa y en un colegio rural estatal de inicial y primaria, que queda cerca de nuestra casa. La gente que se nos une, es de toda edad y condición, la mayoría son niños y jóvenes de escasos recursos económicos.
ACTIVIDADES: Dibujo, pintura, cerámica, música, tejido en telar, danza, exp. corporal.
LOGROS: Haber desarrollado en nuestra casa-escuela un ambiente suficientemente armónico para cultivar en nuestros niños y jóvenes talentos artísticos y artesanales.Que ahora varios de nuestros alumnos puedan dirigir sus talleres.Haber logrado la confianza de profesores, alumnos y padres de familia del colegio rural 6055 de Cardal (Pachacámac) y poder dar cursos de arte, 2 horas cada día, de lunes a viernes. Además de haber podido construir dentro del colegio una pequeña cabaña donde guardamos materiales y donde podemos llevar a cabo nuestros talleres de verano.Que instituciones como la empresa Cementos Lima, Avina, la Universidad Católica y la U. Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, hayan reconocido nuestro trabajo y hayan decidido apoyarnos.
Yesterday I hosted a workshop about hosting and community producing on (and across) the increasingly prolific number of services which are available, in contrast to those we know and love (i.e. message boards and blogs). I've created notes of the text.
Black text is what I feel the golden rules of hosting anywhere are. Green text is text that we added during the workshop, which is about specific services. The idea was to compare and contrast to see whether the role of community managers is changing.
It seemed to me that the golden rules are still the same, but some things are more appropriate on some services than others.
