Not the famous mega-bend of the Colorado river in Arizona, but nonetheless a deep 'U' turn of the Loddon river (Thames tributary) in my neighbourhood...

It’s been brought to my attention that this also looks like Dead Horse Point in Utah. This is an older photo that I had on a laptop and I think it’s Horseshoe Bend, but not positive! I should research more before posting.

I think it is not necessary to describe this famous location in Arizona. Thank you for watching my Flickr friends.

I recently spent some time at Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. I had never seen the falls and at mid-life they were something to cross off the bucket list. Let's just say that they are as awe inspiring as people tell you they are! Just incredible, and I highly recommend the trip to those who have never been. I am sure this shot has been taken literally a million times. The Maid of the Mist is the American tourist boat that takes passengers right up to the base of the falls. I took this ride on the Canadian equivalent Hornblower boat. At this close range, the power of the water raging over the edge and slamming into the river below is just wicked. The sound is deafening. Please view large for a little slice of the Canadian Falls at Niagara.

Thanks for stopping by ~

Despite the extreme cold and poor light took advantage, when passing by, of this 'Work in Progress' elevated shot of Dyffryn Mymbyr and the Snowdon Horseshoe from the Capel Curig Pinnacles.

Previously low cloud had concealed this spectacle. I'll definitely return in better light and more favourable conditions.

Horseshoe Falls are located in the Mount Field National Park located in Tasmania- Australia. The light flowing from the falls to the foreground caught my eye with this composition.

Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near Page, Arizona. It is located five miles (8.5 km) downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about four miles or six km southwest of Page. Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above. The overlook is 4,200 feet above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet above sea level making it a breathtaking 1,000 foot drop. It is a short ¾ of a mile hike from US Route 89.

Another version of a "man made arch"

This is one of the most photographed places in the world, but I still decided to do my take on a sunset picture here.

This was my second visit, first for sunset.

I arrived an hour before sunset and there were already about 200 people jostling for a position on the edge of the 1000 foot (300 metre) cliffs of Glen Canyon - some way too close for my comfort.

I found a good spot until an extremely rude person setup their tripod right across my field of view, so I had to move across a little rather than start an argument on a cliff edge.

So I didn't get the full shot of the river I wanted but I think this still came out very well considering.

Sgwd Y Bedol, Horseshoe Falls, Brecon Beacons. The water looked unusually blue, maybe a reflection from some blue sky above!

I am not suggesting I actually walked the Snowdon Horseshoe (a knife-edge ridge walk), but here you get a view on it.

The peak of Snowdon is almost visible through the clouds now. The lake is Glaslyn.

This is comming straight from my laptop while traveling and not too sure on the look... I'll see when I get to my real computer.

A last one from this incredible location. Thank you for watching my flickr friends.

This beautiful place is located in West Vancouver. Sorry my friends for not being very active on Flickr. Life happened...

At the Delaware Shore. Wave motion turned it on its side. But another wave turned her back the right way.

I keep finding pictures that I haven't processed yet from last year.

Formed when the Colorado River looped around an impassable sandstone escarpment, Horseshoe Bend is one of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area's more famous highlights. Not an easy feat, considering nearby is Antelope Canyon and the second-largest manmade lake in the United States, Lake Powell.

Horseshoe bend - just another incredible place along the Colorado river

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, United States. It is also referred to as the "east rim of the Grand Canyon."

Horseshoe Beach is a beach inside Newcastle Harbour in my home city. It is also called dog beach by the locals because it is one of the rare beaches in the area where you are allowed to take your dog to. The ship is probably here to load up with coal to take to China.

Arizona offers an incredible variety of stunning natural landscapes.

Just a few miles south of the massive dam at Lake Powell, the Colorado River winds its

way through the Glen Canyon region, heading south.

One of the most popular spots along the way is Horseshoe Bend, which attracts visitors

every day.

Located in the northern part of the state, it’s absolutely worth the trip.

The view down into the Colorado River valley is truly unforgettable.

Maybe that’s why so many people come — it’s hard to pull yourself away from such a

breathtaking place.
