Why the music? - Well.. i used to sing in the Glasgow Gospel choir and have sang all my life..in various different choirs and bands..and this song is from the Soweto Gospel choir (which i'd love to join) and had one jam with them when they were here in Glasgow - But! - i have chosen this song because it's how i feel about capturing birds and this panning lark.. which i hope to master one day - if my arm does not fall off in the long process of throwing bread for them to catch.. well whichever comes first i will persevere and practice!..:o)

Shot with a modified Holga. Check out my Holga modification tutorial HERE.
I finally took my Holga 120 TLR out for a test drive this weekend and shot my first roll of 120 film. It was pretty strange jumping from the digital convenience of the Canon 5D with beautiful glass to the limitations of a toy film camera with a plastic lens. It’s not just the fact that the camera lacks an accurate view finder, but after taking a picture, there’s this strange silence. This is the moment I often check the histogram of the image on the back of my Canon to make sure I exposed correctly… but of course, this moment doesn’t happen with the Holga. I’m left wondering whether I even took a picture at all.
Shooting film for the first time since I was a teenager made me feel kind of like a blind man. It was definitely a thrill taking my camera to the lab and waiting patiently for processing and for the scans of my negatives to be completed. It was a complete mystery to me how they would turn out. I already knew that the Holga would in some way push my subjects through it’s plastic into some strange toy camera world. What I didn’t know was whether or not I would like any of what it ended up outputting. When I finally got home and brought the digital scans up on my computer screen, I was pleased to find a few shots that I actually thought were pretty cool.
I love how this looks. I got the idea from Amanda at Soulemama who got it from someone.....we shall see how this spreads....
An abstract view of a playground basketball hoop on a rainy March 2nd, 2019 in Valley View, Texas.
Continuing the "forgotten photos of 2019" theme, here's an abstract, artsy fartsy take on a basketball hoop that I came across at a park in Valley View, TX back in March. Amanda was at a painting workshop, so Tami and I went for a drive to shoot some grain elevators and general Texas stuff. In no particular order, I photographed an old brick wall, some cows, dilapidated windows, grain elevators, wet dandelions, more cows, a basketball hoop and more. Proof that one can never tell where my right brain will wander when I'm taking the world in through a viewfinder. It was definitely a fun day to be out with a good friend exploring an area I hadn't seen before!
As you can probably tell I love Jewelry too (what girl doesn't). You can barely see my new huge hoop earrings I bought

Hula hoops we’re laid out on the playground at the nearby school for summer camp activities this morning when I passed through. I did not stop to give one a spin.

A couple of years ago, Ian Fleming wrote an article for Emulsive about using a modified 35mm film splicer to perforate unperforated 35mm film for use in 126 cameras. I have finally managed to replicate that. This is Agfa Aviphot ASP 400 S, sourced from macodirect.de, that I perforated myself and put into a Fakmatic 126 holder, then shot in one of my Kodak Instamatic 500s. Developed in Rodinal 1:25 for 10:30.
