The orange color on this eggplant background is a cotton lame, it has iridescent gold threads in the weave lending a beautiful sheen to this quilted fiber art piece framed in a fabric wrapped embroidery hoop.

The technique used to make this is called reverse applique, which means the shapes are cut out of the black fabric and the patterned fabric is placed behind it. A layer of batting is put behind it all and then machine stitched around all the shapes with the beautiful sheen of rayon embroidery thread.

Whenever we find out way around Hooper, a stop here is a must. But I think this is the first time I've shot it on 4x5.

While I shoot abandoned buildings fairly often, they're usually in much worse shape. I honestly didn't know what to do with this. I got off, I think, two different shots with the 4x5, and several with various other cameras.

I don't use the 210mm lens as much as I should, and I'm not sure if I'd take this shot again. While there, I asked myself what I wanted out of it, and I couldn't really come up with anything.

I didn't feel a real connection here, though I really enjoy he asctetics of the place. I think I need to see it with fresh eyes - maybe other photos of it or something. I think I wanted to feel something I'm not. Hopefully will someday.

yeah. what a great mail day. got this and an ornament for another swap from caryn. i LOVE her. and so does my girl. its on the wall. although i think i need to paint the hoop, i hate our white walls! thanks!!!

Quick and easy wall decor.

I have been planning this project for a LONG time. Well before I ever thought how my little girl's room would be, I knew I wanted to make these hoops to put on her wall. I am very pleased with how they turned out and would love to add to this little collection, maybe including the sleeping beauty and princess and the pea prints.

There is really only one way you should eat Hula Hoops.

A quiet day, but with the treat of a visit from good friends. I'm getting cabin fever and I'm struggling to find moments of space to help me, which is awfully selfish but right now I have a lot of responsibilities and need a break.

I'm not really a fan of B&W, but I'm still struggling to like photos with artificial light in them. Conversely, I'm quite enjoying the Dippy, inspired by lovely Lily in particular. There's something indulgent and enjoyable about two frames instead of one.

Oh, and I'm back at work tomorrow.

I thought at the time I was lucky getting my ears done before the advent of Lockdown but it all went a bit wrong when I lost one and took the other one out. I found the missing ear stud but I had nobody to help me ease them back in and my ears became so red I just couldn't safely find the holes so fearing getting them infected I gave up. Unfortunately they've totally healed up and Claires who did them told me to do them again I have to start again buying their whole package whether I need it or not when all I want is the couple of holes redoing. Anyway as always it's only after the event that one hears about the nice girl tucked away who does it at less than half what the big boys grab so at least I now know who to see. Well I've been looking forwards to getting them redone I almost got a thing about it as just wearing them makes one feel that little bit more glamourous and complete. It will make me feel like Jojo as well and that might sound silly but as it is I forget about it but not only will wearing ear-rings be a constant reminder and to my dismay because I have to wear wigs it feels and sometimes looks like my head still seems to belongs to that Christopher. As I said when I did them I feel it's a bit ritualistic too a symbolic right of passage where I join the 'proper gurls' lol as my transition reaches some sort of maturity. I think I know the answer before I even prompt you but they can be uncomfortable and a heap of trouble so do you think they would add something to me and be fun or once the novalty wore off just be like anything else.

cheesy? perhaps. but alas, the deed is done.

Hoops of delight at first but maybe it's because I'm not used to them but I had to take them out after about six hours as my lobes became quite sore and tender. However the good news is the sun came out and I have to confess I took over 500 images to sort, digest and hopefully post. That's one reason why I have so many good ones I don't just take two and one for luck. I have been reticent in the past to take my little studs out as I can be 'all fingers and thumbs' when trying to do fiddly things but even though I was dreading it I managed without too much difficulty to change them back again so you never know you might see me in more of them as some are so fab and besides they make me feel like a porn star lol..
