I managed to convince Jennifer to come out in the cold and wind after dark to be my subject for Color 1 homework. The assignment was to photograph a person holding a neutral-colored object under a weird light source with different white balance settings. This one (tungsten white balance under the parking lot lights at the local Target store) came the closest to a correct-looking picture. It still took a little tweaking to get things to look just right. The flare from the light above her was a happy accident.

Four full pages, front and back. I haven't had to do that since high school and we won't talk about how long ago that was.
Hand cramp!
How do you say "hand cramp" in Portuguese? Cãibra da mão.
Ai!
We'd been given this 'homework' for Megan to do prior to her school visit this afternoon and she'd been very proudly working on all of the drawings. We left Eli at my parents, packed the sheet into her brand new school book bag, and headed to the school. She was so excited. Unfortunately we got there to be told that we should have been there yesterday. I can't believe I got it wrong, but it was a verbal arrangement (the main visit is next week but a few of us had requested a different date) and something obviously went wrong somewhere. I apologised, which made Megan accuse me of it being my fault, and we headed home. She will at least be able to come next week, although it'll make for a very manic Friday with last day of nursery school, graduation, workshop, picnic and journey down to Dorset to fit in.
