This is a diptych of a typewriter and a computer. I liked the feeling of old versus new that is commonly explored with diptychs, so I tried to show this in the context of a student's homework. The editing of both photos consists of simple adjustments.

One of the mildly interesting things you learn from flickr, that I'm sure others have noticed, is you get to monitor who is doing homework on what.

Somewhere in the world there is a class who were given Tawny Frogmouths for homework yesterday! Twelve of them ended up at this photo by googling on, not surprisingly, 'tawny frogmouth'.

I guess my point is how much unintentional information is out there on the web, information that is routinely used by people with good, bad and commercial intentions.

Given one single photo on the web that normally gets viewed once or not at all each day, then suddenly gets viewed 12 times in a day, it is theoretically possible that sellers of educational material with a product aimed at birds, or nocturnal birds or animals, could contact the school, the teacher or the students with their offering. I think eventually this will have to be controlled or legislated against as it will only become more common. And the people who know who googled on this photo are ... google.

so this is a record of my boy, half scholar, half little one - look at that pudgy, toddler esque hand - growing and learning every day.

With just ONE more day of school, tonight's homework is pretty straightforward. Can't wait to hear their recommendations ONE more time tomorrow!
