The fragrance from pandan leaves has permeated into the birdnests dessert and the taste was good! The taste of egg white in birdnests soup has almost disappeared!
Recipe:
Pure birdnest soup:
Soak some bird nests in hot water for 1 hour or in tap water for 4 hours. Rinse with water twice. Drain well. Double boiled with enough of hot water to cover and pandan leaves for one and a half hours. Add rock sugar to taste.

Because of bad weather, ER and I went to IKEA Alexandra instead going to Orchard Road. Our outing was cut short soon after since ER was not well.
We met my Mother-in-Law's for a late lunch Sunday afternoon at Austin's Steak & Homestyle Buffet We got extremely lucky and didn't have to wait to be seated, Wanted to try a wide range of food, which I did! We were completely stuffed when we left and throughout the evening!

Food of the Mid-Autumn Festival: These water caltrops shown here are from China. Strange enough they are only available during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Water caltrops are leafy aquatic plants, which are also known as water chestnuts or “ling” in Chinese. Water caltrops bear nutlike edible fruits, 2.5 cm to 5 cm in diameter with 4 spine angles that are a delicacy throughout Asia. These plants grow chiefly in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Africa.
This view caught my attention while ER and I walked past this area as we were heading to a nearby bus-stop just metres away from this scene. I like the greening effect with trees, green field etc!
At the bus-stop, ER checked out the bus services suitable for us. When he saw bus service No. 80, he remarked: Wow! It is so new and beautiful! At first not knowing where it will take us to, I said: Let’s board the bus for a ride :). He then signaled to the bus driver just as he was about to move the vehicle out of the bus bay! Yes, we hopped on!
Anyway, we had a wonderful joy ride on Service No. 80, which was so new and clean! Best of all, we found two empty front seats at the upper deck of the bus and had an enjoyable time taking in the sights as well as photographing all the way along our journey till we alighted at Hougang Central where we did our shopping.

Craving Wendy's for dinner! I got the Homestyle S'Awesome Bacon Chicken Sandwich. It's a sandwich with a juicy, lightly breaded chicken breast, 3 strips of Applewood smoked bacon, muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and with Wendy's signature sweet & tangy Sid of S'Awesome sauce. For my side, I got the large chili. Yup, I was a hungry boy lol.
This was at the Wendy's on the intersection of Aborn and Capitol here in San Jose, CA. I was hanging out with my cousin at the time. Once again, we were doing another one of our random hangout sessions lol. Anyways, let's enjoy!

Dragon fruit is a little sour and has a unique faint after taste, hard to describe, if not fully ripe. Hence leave the unripe ones in room temperature for 2 to 3 days before putting them in the fresh box. Ripe fruits are sweet and pleasant in flavour.
