Creamy Homestyle Tuna Melts
recipe from Full Bellies, Happy Kids food blog
4 oz cream chese, softened
2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained, flaked
1/4 c. finely chopped onions
1/4 c. finely chopped celery
Wasabi mustard, to taste
Sriracha, to taste
12 slices whole wheat bread
12 Kraft singles (or cheese of your choice)
2 tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
Mix the first 6 ingredients. Fill bread slices with tuna salad and singles. Spread outsides of sandwiches with butter. Cook in skillet on medium heat for 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

I found these images of an antique Burmese silver repousse (hammered metal work) bowl on YouTube in a popular UK TV series | Dickinson’s Real Deal | Season 10 Episode 8 | HomeStyle. The vendor sold the lot for which he had paid £5? to a dealer for £120. He said that he’d drink the money down that night at his pub. The dealer was born and schooled in Putao, the town in which the bowl had been hand made.

Putao is located towards the northern part of Myanmar in the state of Kachin. The State is very close to the borders between the Myanmar and neighboring China and India. Putao is at a distance of 1,120 km from the countries capital city, Naypyidaw. The town Putao is surrounded by dense flora and fauna and also bounded by snow capped mountains. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 2600’ N and 97030’ E.
As per historians, since ancient times there existed a trade route between the Chinese rulers and Myanmar in this region. On 12th February 1947, an agreement known as the Panglong agreement was signed between the then Burmese government and the states such as Shan, Kachin along with the Chinese. In the year 1948, the Kachin state was created without British run government districts of Myitkyina and Bhao along with Putao in the north. Drawing of clear territorial boundaries especially in the northern part of Myanmar took place in the year 1960, keeping in view of the Chinese governments methodology of capturing most part of Upper Kachin state into their boundaries. The army belonging to the Kachin state was once part of the Burmese army until the year 1962 wherein the Kachin army withdrew their support and formed what is known as KIA (Kachin Independence Army) with the support of KIO (Kachin Independent Organization).

Languages spoken by the people of Putao are Burmese, Jingpho, Kayah, Karen and Chin. However, Burmese is the official language of the country. Singing and dancing forms an integral part of the country. There are different religions worshipped in the country, Myanmar. Majority of the population of Putao, worship Buddhism, while others either follow Islam, Hinduism or Christianity.

Delicious Curry prawns and squids cooked with homestyle potato chips and curry ingredients served with rice.
This stuff is amazing! It's not all saucy like the boxed kind, just melted shredded cheese. And I like it so much better this way! Add some panko on top and I am in heaven.
This is nothing like the original recipe from Japanese Homestyle Cooking, which called for udo, broad beans and kimi soboro (boiled egg yolk). But it was inspired by it.
The bottle of dried butter beans have been sat in the "crap cupboard" since we moved 4 months ago, and it's been bugging me. And I was too lazy to do anything other than soak and boil them. But in the spirit of washoku, it needed some colour to lift its dull beigeness, hence the edamame. The dressing was nothing more than mincing up the flesh from an umeboshi.

One of my retirement objectives was to learn proper Indian cookery. So here goes with my first attempt.

Whoever he or she is, this person is not the only culprit in the supermarkets. On and off irresponsible shoppers do left food items or other things lying around at the wrong places when they changed their minds. Just wonder, is it that difficult to return those things to the rightful places???
Worse of all such shoppers did the same thing to perishables too. Once a supermarket employee revealed that a packet of prawns was left in between boxes of soap powder! It was found only when there was a stench!
As shown in the photo above, mixing raw food with cooked or ready to-be consumed food could cause cross-contamination, which is a common cause of food poisoning!
Shoppers really need to be instilled with greater social awareness and health safety...their behaviours may lead to a new source of contamination in future.

This is a dish of Asian tofu salad? That’s what I overheard the conversations between ER and YH when I was still clearing up things in the kitchen. What a unique thought, ER!
Just like before, cubes of silken tofu were blenched in boiling water, drained and placed in a plate topped with sautéed fishballs. Next this was blanketed with prepared oyster sauce flavoured with lots of fried shallots, garlic and chopped green onions.
may was craving jook (congee / rice porridge) this morning, so we checked out this new place in chinatown called homestyle hong kong cafe, located right next to ambrosia. i had the beef & meatball jook and may had the beef & chicken. we were both surprised that they gave it to us in individual-sized clay pots. very cute, and delicious. :)
For a hearty late dinner after a long day having fun in NYC, we went to Chinatown for Malaysian food at New Malaysia Restaurant. I had the Homestyle Rice with Hainanese Chicken, Curry Beef Brisket, and a Fried Egg. It was so much food, but I ate it ALL. Plus a longan ice drink too. We all polished off our main dishes and drinks, and didn't end up really eating the Indian roti appetizers we ordered, so I got to take them home. Excellent the next day, heated up. Yum yum!

Both cashew and pistachio nuts were supposed to be roasted before Christmas but had been postponing the task. So, just before watching cable TV, I started to roast the nuts first this morning.
Rika is supposed to use the pistachios in cookies…she may not have time to bake them.
