Both New Year and Christmas customs (January 6) in Armenia are primarily religious in nature. The week before Christmas is on of strict fasting which comes to an end only after Christmas Eve communion.

WIT: I went to the Ainsley House, a Historic English Tudor Architecture House in Campbell (CA), during its Home for the Holidays night tour. Every room was decorated by local artists/designers in the holiday theme. This shot was of an angel on a Christmas tree (full of these angels).
