Gong is a southeast Asian percussion instrument made from brass or other alloys.
Two men involved in turning the fired brass and handing over them to the rest to pound into the shape of a gong.

Tourists walk on and along the stone walls, surrounding the colonial Walled City, at twilight in Cartagena, Colombia. With the peace agreement, ending a 52-year civil conflict and promising political stability, together with rapid economic growth and unexploited tourism potential, Colombia has truly become a holiday destination. Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the tropical Caribbean coast, plays the primary role in Colombia’s tourism renaissance. The historic sites from the Spanish colonial times are being restored, private investments are visible throughout the city and an increased number of local people benefit from the boom of the travel related services. © Jan Sochor Photography

If there is on colour that would describe winter it would be white an if I had to choose one colour to describe Summer I'd pick green. I spotted this lake a short walk from a parking lot on highway 1A in Banff. I found it to be a quiet tranquil place. I only wish I had more time to enjoy it. Looking so forward to see the white-ness of winter replaced with the green-ness of summer.

Another day, another sunrise...
The funny thing to observe the sun raising is the minutes before it appears over the horizon. The wind was quite strong, bits of rain, clouds moving fast. Suddenly, it is like: I am the boss here. Get out... The sky opens... the wind stops and it sounds like you can hear the sun roaring and showing all your strength. I feel great to be alive and to witness this wonder. I loved it the second day even more. It was so different. Like brothers, the same blood, but so different. I can't wait to wake 5am tomorrow and see you again, little sun.

The story of this photo:
This sculpture is sitting at the shore of the Krabi River in Krabi Thailand. Unfortunately, I do not know who created it or whether it is there for a specific purpose. If anybody knows something about it, please write a comment. But beyond the cultural value of this piece of art, it makes a quite nice subject to photograph, especially lending itself for HDR processing. Enjoy!
Take a look at my "HDR Cookbook"! It contains some more information on my techniques.
How it was shot:
> Taken with a monopod
> Three exposures (0, -2, +2 ev) autobracketed and merged to get and HDR
> Camera: Nikon D90
> Lens: Sigma 10-20mm F3,5 EX DC HSM
> Details can be found here
How it was tonemapped:
> Photomatix version 3.1 (Detail Enhancer)
> Two versions with color temperature set to 0 (cold) and 5 (warm) (used for blending)
How it was post-processed:
> Post-processing was done in Photoshop
> Topaz Adjust on the entire image to enhance the details and the colors [details]
> Created two layers, one for the sky and one for the foreground (used layer masking)
> Saturation adjustment layer on the sky (increased master for more intensive blue)
> Saturation adjustment layers on the concrete to tone down the yellows
> Saturation adjustment layers on the forrest o increase the green and yellow tones
> Levels adjustment layers on the foreground and the sky to adjust the contrast separately
> Blended small portions of the warm HDR into the cold one to get back the yellow shine on the crab
> Topaz DeNoise on the sky and the foreground separately [details]
> Sharpening on the foreground using the high-pass filter [details]
