Unos cuantos dÃas sin mostrar ninguna foto que me han servido para irme familiarizando con la nueva herramienta, me está costando hacerme con la gestión del color, totalmente diferente a la que ofrecÃa mi querida 50D, pero poco a poco la voy "domando" y obteniendo los resultados que busco, estoy segura que dentro de no mucho viviré con esta nueva compañera un bonito idilio que espero sea tan fructÃfero como el que ahora se termina.
Esta imagen la tomé el viernes pasado en Covachos, cuando el cielo está nublado o "barrunta" tormenta es el lugar perfecto para buscar dramatismo y luces especiales. Espero que os guste.
-TÉCNICA: Para esta escena el ND 64 de BW y el degradado inverso de dos pasos de Hitech que tuve que sujetar a mano pues la arandela de mi portafiltros se soltó en dos mitades y me dejó vendida.Me hubiera gustado utilizar la black card, pero me faltaban manos para tanto cachivache.

-COMPOSICIÓN: Con la luz como eje conductor organicé esta escena en la que los reflejos sobre la arena mojada tenÃan un gran protagonismo. Para completar la escena y no presentar un primer plano tan desnudo coloqué un tronco varado que tuve que desplazar desde la otra punta de la playa (..y no pesaba poco precisamente).
-EDICIÓN: En el DPP de Canon balance de blancos ,corrección de horizonte,contraste con curvas.En PS contraste por zonas, ligero enfoque para la web.
Hay muchas rocas en la playa de Barrika con pinta de cola de lagarto... Esta puede ser otra de ellas.

Una de mis canciones favoritas de Dire Straits... Si en la foto anterior no podÃa apreciarse el colorido del ocaso debido a la orientación, en esta y alguna otra que hice, puede contemplarse el color rojizo del cielo en pleno crepúsculo.

I had the pleasure of camping over President's Day with Kevin Mcneal, Tomas Kaspar and Douglas Dietiker. The weather was nice, and although the sunsets and sunrises were not overly spectacular it was still great to be outside shooting some landscape. Thanks go out to Tomas for pointing out this angle to me, and to Kevin for inviting me.

Manual flash via synch lead from camera left onto nearest post set at 1/32 power
Yup, thats right, fill flash on a landscape shot - I wanted to bring out a bit of the textures and detail in the nearest post which would have otherwise been almost slihouetted. I still had to use the dodge tool a little though but the flash did help. This is another shot from yesterday's stint at Rocky island.

Title - that cloud bank delayed the sunrise a little.
Had a little walk down the seafront as I was itching to press the shutter button on my camera as I was getting withdrawal symptoms spending so much time away from it.
Took a few shots using my Hitech pro stopper to try and master this new piece of kit.
This was taken using my Hitech pro stopper combined with my Lee 0.9 ND grad.
This was an exposure of 308 seconds made possible by my tripod and trusty cable release and bulb mode.
I have got better at the colour correction by doing it manually which takes a few seconds but there is always a funny tint to my pictures with this filter.
Also there is definently a softness with this filter which is annoying, I have read this is where the Lee big stopper beats the Hitech as the Lee has much better contrast and clarity.
Anyway when converted to mono a lot of these sins get hidden which is great but not so good if you want to keep the picture in colour.
Post Processing
Converted to mono with efex.
Used control points along the sky to darken it down in efex.
Added an 's' curve for contrast.
Dodged and burned to taste.
Selected the sky only and reduced the grain to smooth it out.
Finished off with unsharp mask for detail and clarity.
