He runs the INFORMAL FISHERMAN MUSEUM in one of the box rooms at the harbour, where he tells stories about the great harbour and curiosities related to it, about his extraordinary fishing travels, etc. It is worth listening to these marine tales!

Chauburji (Urdu: ﭼﻮﺑﺮﺟﻰ) (Chau meaning four, burji meaning tower) is one of the most famous monuments among the structures and buildings of the Mughal era in the city of Lahore, Pakistan.

Now a holiday cottage, this fortification was built during the Napoleonic wars and is grade II* listed, it sits between the shingle beach and the River Alde on a narrow stretch of land at Slaughdon near to Aldeburgh in Suffolk, on the North Sea coast.

This was the largest and most Northerly such Martello tower to be built to defend the East coast, and according to various sources was commenced in either 1806 or 1808, with completion in 1810.

The walls are approximately seven feet thick and built of brick, the base being granite.

These structures were manned by a small troop of men and were essentially a defensive gun platform (this apparently held four such guns).

It was sold following the war and converted into a domestic dwelling but was later commandeered by the military in 1940 to act as a watch tower. It was later aquired by a private buyer and restored in 1973.

This Martello was also unique being the only such tower to be built to a quatrefoil (clover leaf) plan.

This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, listed as no. 106.

The pirates (I only make such observation because of the flag) have even got their own plank "to walk".

Tauric Chersonesos is the name of the city founded by Greek colonists in southwestern Crimea more than 2500 years ago. Its archaeological ruins are presently one of the attractions of the city of Sevastopol, Russia.

In ancient Greek the word chersonesos means "peninsula." The city was indeed located on a small peninsula between two bays. "Tauric" Chersonesos further denotes the location of the colony, that is, "in the lands of the Taurians". This a warring tribe that inhabited the neighboring mountains. The city was destined to exist for nearly two thousand years, and its history is intertwined with that of ancient Greece, Rome, and Byzantium.

In 1827, 50 years after the foundation of Sevastopol, the first excavations at the site of Chersonesos commenced. Soon afterwards, Chersonesos received the epithet of "Russian Troy."

Fisherman Museum is an amazing place to visit. It is owned by Jerzy Piatek (George Friday) the same fisherman who was and he was living there his whole life. Now guy is retired and over the years he collected an amazing amount of all kind of fisherman gear, some quite very long. Some were used by him, and his father also fisherman, some he got from his friends. He used to fish in Baltic Sea, North Sea, Atlantic etc.

Just look at my pictures and judge for yourself.

St Petersburg-Vitebsky is a railway station terminal in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Formerly known as St Petersburg-Tsarskoselsky station because its first line led to the suburban royal residences town of Tsarskoye Selo, it was the first railway station to be built in Saint Petersburg and the whole of the Russian Empire (while its present-day building is much newer). Later, with considerable extension of its lines, the station was renamed after a much farther destination - Vitebsk, a city in Belarus.

Construction of new building started in 1901 and lasted for three years. Stanislaw Brzozowski gave the new two-storey station an ornate frontage in an assortment of historical styles, with decorative reliefs, floriated Jugendstil detailing, outsize semicircular windows and two regular features of 19th-century train stations: a pseudo-Renaissance dome and a square clocktower.

However, it was Sima Minash's opulent Art Nouveau interior that established the building as the most ornate of St Petersburg stations. Minash was responsible for the sweeping staircases, foyer with stained glass and spacious halls boasting a series of painted panels that chronicle the history of Russia's first railway. The building's soaring arches and expanses of glass proclaimed the architect's familiarity with advanced construction techniques of the West.

Albany architect Philip Hooker designed this elegant Greek Revival mansion, which workers completed in 1830. The home originally belonged to Utica Judge Morris S. Miller’s son Rutger B. Miller, and earned the nickname “Miller’s Folly” following its construction. House of Representatives member, New York State Senator, Utica mayor, and practicing lawyer Roscoe Conkling moved into the home in 1863. After Conkling’s 1881 death, his daughter Elizabeth sold the house to Utica lawyer Nicholas E. Kernan in 1894.*

The Haserot family monument is one of the most frequently sought-after works of art at Lake View. This full-size bronze angel sits upon polished red granite. The corrosion makes it appear as though the angel is weeping.

The angel's hands are folded over an upside-down torch, symbolizing the extinguishing of life.

The statue was sculpted in 1923 by H. N. Maken.
