This was a very productive day .Started out early morning on client hills with some beautiful light then about mid day I made my way to Stourbridge Junction andante Stourbridge Canal ,The light had gone by this time and it didn't look good but I got a few photos I was very pleased with this being one of them
This image captures the monumental presence of Ribblehead Viaduct as it cuts across the wild openness of the Yorkshire Dales. The composition uses the viaduct’s repeating stone arches as a powerful visual rhythm, drawing the viewer’s eye from the foreground grasses into the distant hills.

This Old Castle , built in the 1400's stands on a small peninsula overlooking Lachlan Bay on the east side of Loch Fyne. It was the major building of the local clan, the Maclachlans. There has been a castle on the site since at least 1314
Lyveden New Build
Not a ruin but an Elizabethan summer house that was never completed. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham, the building remains incomplete & virtually unaltered since his death in 1605.
The Wakeford House was built in 1877 here in my town of Norris City, Illinois. The town itself wasn't incorporated until 1901, so I find the fact that this house is older than the town to be quite fascinating. As far as I know, it's the oldest house here.
For the Saturday Self-Challenge group, who's theme this week was history.
The old packhorse bridge at the Scottish town of Carrbridge from which the village takes its name. The bridge was built circa 1717 and is believed to be one of the oldest stone bridges in the Scottish Highlands. It was severely damaged in 1829 by floods which left it in the condition seen today. It is unsafe in its current state but can be easily viewed from a purpose made viewing platform.
Sitting just outside the town of Port Glasgow on the River Clyde Scotland there lies a field of decaying upright wooden posts in the River itself. These posts are a relic of the ship building which this area was once famous for. The posts were used to store wooden logs which would be floated down the river for use in the construction of seagoing ships. Covering an area of a few acres they are a testement to the size of the industry which once thrived here.

I don't know the history of the place, but I'm guessing that it was originally a grocery or dry goods store back in the 1920s. Recently it has been a home, a rather funky one at that, and more recently it changed hands and the front seems to be a business of some sort. If any of you PDX folks know some history of the place, I'd be glad to know. And I'm going to try to do some digging myself.

I took a little roadtrip today to clear my mind. One of my contacts had posted a wonderful picture of this barn, so I thought it was a perfect destination. I talked to one of the neighbors of the property, and he said the wood in this barn is hemlock, and he opined that was why it had held up so well. Interesting.
