Entrance to Las Rosas Cemetery in Puerto Varas... too bad I always find it closed! One way to get in only.

Young lovers kiss passionately by Trafalgar Square Fountain. (Candid shot). This photograph was taken early in the afternoon, when the square was very crowded as usual. I therefore cropped the image to highlight the feel of sublime romance and isolation from the surrounding world. Trying to change the camera setting to work with the selective focus would have meant to miss the moment. I thought that a soft pink monochrome would suit the sweetness of this instant...

"Was macht die hier ?"

SU42-518 was a must-see for everyone visiting the railway line to Hel for trainspotting, as it had been repainted into the retro scheme of SU42 locomotives from the early 2000s just after the start of the summer season.

The locomotive was originally marked as SP42-195 and "modernised" to the SU42 standard in the year 2000. The modernisation being an exchange of the traditional water boiler to electric heating.

After the modernisation it had been stationed throughout many different depots of PKP, then PKP Przewozy Regionalne and now Polregio, before settling on the Pomeranian section of Polregio in 2022. After its repair in 2023 it started running summer seasonal trains between Chojnice, Gdynia and Hel.

Here the loco can be seen fighting the heavy grade leading from the passenger stop in Swarzewo to a local summit as it hauls a regio train to Hel.

Corsewall Lighthouse is a lighthouse at Corsewall Point, Kirkcolm near Stranraer in the region of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland. First lit in 1817, it overlooks the North Channel of the Irish Sea. The definition of the name Corsewall is the place or well of the Cross.

In 1814, a Kirkman Finley applied to the Trade of Clyde for a lighthouse on Corsill Point. Robert Stevenson, inspected in December of that year and soon the 30 ft tower and house were in the first stages of construction.

Corsewall Lighthouse was exhibited in 1817 but that year, the Principal Keeper at Corsewall was reported for incompetence after falling asleep on duty as the revolving apparatus of the light had stopped for a certain period. They suspended him and he was to never chiefly monitor a lighthouse again and was demoted as an assistant at Bell Rock.

In November 1970, Concorde reportedly flew over the lighthouse on a trial flight and shattered panes of glass on the lighthouse. Later flights did not affect it.

Although the light is still operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board, since automation in 1994 the rest of Corsewall Lighthouse has been converted into the Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel.

Sunset has an effect on more than just the clouds. This was shot in the mountains in the Ochoco National Forest in Oregon.

I got this candid shot of a worker at the Renaissance Festival in the Castle of Muskogee. I had watched her for a while with the sunlight highlighting you hair I wanted to catch that. As I clicked the shutter her eyes followed the crowd in front of her to the point of making lens contact but not focusing on me. This candid shot is why I picked it for the shot of 2019.

Trying something a little different, colour and composition wise. Wasn't really sure what to photograph today, so stumbled into this one. I actually gave up on this shot and tried some others, but I came back to this and it has grown on me.

Spent a lovely evening wandering around the Highlight Carnival. These were pretty. I really should have looked up best settings before I left ... oh well, lesson for next time!!

Popular since Victorian times, this moth-shaped orchid is now what most people think of when they think “orchid.” Phalaenopses are showy, come in many varieties, and are naturally comfortable in home environments. They are easy to care for and can be made to bloom multiple times a year. Phalaenopses are an excellent orchid for the novice orchid grower.

I love sunsets and sunrises because not one of them are exactly the same!

Christine Falls is probably the most photographed place inside Mount Rainier National Park due to the fact that it's gorgeous AND it's right off the side of the road which usually means a long queue and a rushed shot elbow to elbow with your new best friends. On this day, however, I had it all to myself as the snow plows had scooped out the parking lot and left a five foot berm of snow in front of the trailhead.

This is the 37 foot lower tier of the Christine Van Trump Falls, so named after a nine year old girl who attempted the ascent of the mountain with her dad in 1889. The young lady made it to 10,000 feet despite a crippling nervous disorder.

The wonderful arched bridge framing the scene for us is concrete and faced with rubble stonework. Built in 1927, it spans 56 feet of Van Trump creek and it has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991 and for me it is the highlight of the drive through the park.

I've posted this video twice so if you've seen the lahar crash through here don't bother, but for the rest of you, hold on to your seat. :)

(deep breath) Howdy! Hope all are well, I am for the most part. I've been working a lot and when I'm not working I've been on the couch resting. Then the holidays, crummy weather and suddenly I don't have anything to share AND I'm way behind with all of you. gasp. :) anywho, I still don't have much that I'd call Flickrworthy but I wanted to say hi and I'm still alive and have been secretly peeking. I have a few hours before I get back to the grind this morning so I'm going to give catching up a go. I'm still not out of the woods with work, two more bank remodels to do on top of my regular work load which means long days, nights, weekends because the banks don't close for remodels and we have contractors who use us exclusively for their cabinets and we have to keep them happy at the same time. boo hoo, whatever. I'm going to try to catch up and stay caught up so when the day comes that my camera leaps joyfully back into my hands I'll be ready. :)

A farm below Shutlingsloe hill, Wildboarclough, Cheshire highlighted momentarily.

I had a lot of highlights on my weekend trip. I however will love this one the most. My husband who drove me around helping me find locations was the spotter of this Snowy Owl this was his first ever sight of a snowy and he was totally thrilled to have spotted it for me. I think that is what made it so awesome. He rolled down his window and was going to listen to for the sandhills and when he did the owl was right out side his window. Yes this owl is this close. It is also not quite light enough to take this photo. I had an iso of 2000 shutter of 15 and I am hand holding my canon 100 400 ii. I couldn't get a tripod out of the back so I shot from out of the car behind the car. I was able to get about 7 shots before another vehicle parked right in front of my view which made the owl fly. I am glad out of the 7 shots two were not blurry. If you know this refuge and you see snowy's please give them space. from what I have been reading they are starving.
