TO START YOUR JOURNEY ON THE MOUNTAIN RAILWAY YOU CAN CATCH THE TRAIN AT THE BOTTOM AT LAXEY STATION IN THE TOWN OF LAXEY, THIS WILL TAKE YOU UP TO THE CAFE AT THE SUMMIT OF SNAEFELL. THIS UNIQUE VICTORIAN ENTERPRISE, WHICH IS AROUND FIVE MILES LONG, HAS BEEN IN OPERATION SINCE 1895 AND IS THE ONLY ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN RAILWAY IN THE BRITISH ISLES.

Went to Higher Hyde Heath in Dorset to try and find the elusive Sand Lizard. Only saw one and could not manage a good shot.
This Grass Snake was more obliging though.
Now no longer a Landmark Trust property. Since being sold, the shippon has now been fully restored. The Mariners' Way footpath has also been re-routed around the back of the house.
Inspired by a podcast from Martin Bailey, I decided to practice panning to capture motion blur at a local playground. Conditions were not ideal as I had to push my daughter on the swing and then run around to the other side and try to snap some photos before she started to slow down ("Daddy, it's too slow! Higher! Faster!") Of about 100 shots, only 4 or 5 had her reasonably in-focus with a blurred background. However, to my eye, this failed attempt is actually pretty successful. I like the way the blur from my daughter's forward motion is perpendicular to that of the background, conveying a sense of the fun experienced by a girl on a swing. Nothing was done to this image post capture aside from some levels adjustments and a slight vignette. Shot with a Nikon D50 and a 50mm prime using 1/8 sec. shutter and f 16.

The sun takes a last peek from under the clouds. It was another beautiful, late-autumn sunset in the city. Brrrr, it was quite chilly out though. Pics taken from around San Jose, CA. (Saturday around sunset, December 12, 2015)
Weather update:
A weak frontal system was dropping southward across Northern California this day. This system had brought light rainfall to the higher elevations... A much stronger frontal system was to move into the area tonight and Sunday with moderate to heavy rain along with strong southerly winds. Wind advisories were issued in many areas due to wind gusts possibly exceeding 45 mph in the valley and 55-65 mph over higher elevations! The rainfall was to turn to showers by Sunday afternoon\evening, though isolated t-storms were possible due to the unstable airmass following behind the front...
Saw this on the way home, no camera (argh). Raced to get it and get back but missed having the moon directly over the road by minutes. better on black.
