Durga Puja - the ceremonial worship of the supremely radiant mother goddess, is one of the most important festivals, is celebrated every year in the month of October with much gaiety and grandeur in India and abroad, especially in Bengal, where the ten-armed goddess riding the lion and killing the Buffalo-Demon (Mahishasura) is worshiped with great passion and devotion. In Durga, the Gods bestowed their powers to co-create a beautiful goddess with ten arms, each carrying their most lethal weapon. The tableau of Durga also features her four children - Kartikeya, Ganesha, Saraswati and Lakshmi.

This submarine wreck is in a restricted military area in the arctic circle, off Murmansk. It is unlikely that there has been any fishing in the area since the 2nd World War and wildlife is abundant. At the start of the survey the noise of the multibeam system (Reson 8125) and the ROV thrusters, together with the lights for the videos and cameras, attracted thousands of large atlantic cod. The multibeam survey had to be stopped at intervals and the ROV dropped onto the seabed. Everything was then turned off to allow time for the fish to disperse before resuming the survey.

Like many of my personal favorite photos, this vibrant yet trainquil view of the dune hill with an expansive ice plants covered field at its foot is a technical feat.
This image is made of composite of twelve high resolution images. Each of those 64-megapixel photos is in turn, an in-camera composite of eight images.
To preserve the vibrant Olympus color, I converted the camera RAW images through Olympus Workspace and output them into 16-bit TIFF files. I broke 12 images into three groups, as Adobe Photoshop had trouble combine such big TIFF files in one go without creating weird artifacts. The composite of imagers is not to increase the megapixel counts (the full version of this photo is only 63 megapixel resolution), but to necessitate the increase of the depth of field and detail. Only after all that tedious work, the final fulfillment of my vision for this scene is complete.
Throughout many visits to Monterey and Point Lobos, I passed by these desolate dunes by California Highway 1. I did not realize the dune is part of a state park until I tried to find an access to this desert by the ocean. No doubt the fiery colored ice plants were what attracted me to this place.
Flash backward a couple days earlier, when I first visited this sand barren, the refreshing view of this dune and crashing Pacific Ocean waves as tall as me were truly sights to behold. I was busy scouting possible vantages and analyzing light condition for best photo opportunities. As usual, I forgot to bring a photographic tool or two that day. However, the tool left behind that day was the crucial one: my tripod! I could only video recorded the crashing waves without stabilization, and handheld this scene without the possibility of using the high resolution mode described earlier (to maintain maximum sharpness and retention of detail).
With today the cloud was gathering, I knew I must return at once. This was the first view I came by when I left the parking lot, but it's not the first shot I took: the view could be easily ruined by the long shadow. The overhead light, thus was optimal. However, mid-day Sun light is often harsh. Therefore the need for diffused light source, such as a heavier cloud covering, is necessary. Two days earlier, the sky was clear, so while I took some phenomenal shots that day, I knew I had to return another day. Though not seen in this view, the Sun was behind me to my left about 45 degrees behind cloud, perfect for illuminating the ice plants with maximum saturation.
I used RNI Lightroom Preset's Kodak Ektar film simulation, ironically, to make the color more subdued. Yes, the straight-out-of-the-camera color is much more vibrant than the already vivid Ektar! Neutral density gradient filter (3 stops) was used during shooting to darken the sky for a more even lighting (that's the other thing I didn't bring during the first trip).

This WW2 Liberty ship was transporting munitions when it ran aground and broke its back in 1944. At the time the bombs were transported across the atlantic with the fuses attached. Contemporary salvage emptied the stern half but the forward section still contains many thousands of tones of high explosives.
