Black Lawn Beetle/African Black Beetle (Heteronychus arator)
I don't see a lot of these Beetles around. But I did spot this one today. It kept trying to hide under the grass.
What are you looking at? I actually don't know who's watching whom in this picture. Perhaps you can tell...

It's not very often that I post two photos but I thought it would be useful to add to my previous post. This is a 4 shot panorama view of the same image showing the full view including the reed beds in front of the bird hide which will hopefully yield some decent images come breeding season.

During my recent visit to London I finally managed to have a lovely meal in this very nice restaurant called Hide. Whilst most people go there for a fine dining experience, I couldn’t wait to go there to be able to take a few pictures of this fabulous staircase. This is a beautifully designed architectural masterpiece and I really hope I managed to do it justice with my picture.

Red deer stag with the added bracken to enhance his appearance in the rutting season. Sadly not a lot of action going on , think it was too warm for them.
Image info:- Nikon D4 with Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR11 lens @f/4, 1.4x tele converter, auto ISO 640 , shutter set at 1/800th, processed in LightRoom CC.
This little chap was happy to keep me company as I sat patiently awaiting the illusive water rail.
At one point he was literally sat right next to my camera.
Eventually I decided it would be churlish not to take a pic and he happily obliged with this wonderful pose.
