Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens
A historic garden under restoration, situated between Menai Bridge and Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey.
In 1996, the present owner bought the 200 acre Plas Cadnant Estate and work began on the restoration of the historic garden and grounds. Since then large parts of the gardens have undergone a spectacular transformation and have been restored to their former glory.
Described as one of North Wales best kept secrets is the hidden world of Plas Cadnant Gardens, situated at the side of the Menai Strait, hidden from view near to Menai Bridge on the Isle of Anglesey.
Former owners of Plas Cadnant were related to the Tremayne family of Heligan House, now famous for its Lost Gardens.
A new garden is being created on an historic site, becoming a plantsman's paradise. Now considered amongst the liveliest twenty gardens of Wales, and featured in a new book 'The Finest Gardens of Wales' by Tony Russell'. Also featured in 'Discovering Welsh Gardens' written by Stephen Anderton and photographed by Charles Hawes.
There is still much work to be done and we hope you will visit us in person or use the website to keep informed of our ongoing progress.
Three gardens in one
Three different gardens have been discovered, including an unusual walled garden with curving walls and pool, a secret valley garden with three waterfalls and river, and an upper woodland garden with stone outcrops and the remains of a 19c. folly.
Overcast skies are not the best for Kinglet photography. This darling little Ruby-crowned really put on a show and was close enough to get a "keeper". A few Golden-crowned and a Creeper made for a nice little pocket of birds.

Cedar Falls is actually two falls in the same location. I refer to them as the main falls and the secondary falls. They are fed by water runoff so it's best to visit in the spring or fall if the rainfall is above average. The main falls flow down a rock surface and spill into a pond which overflows into a pleasant stream. The flume creates a strong volume of water concentrated into a tight waterfall. The secondary waterfall is spilling over the edge of a wider flat section of rock. It creates a wider fall with much detail in the many parts of water. It reminds me of 'Bridal Veil Falls' in Michigan because that is what it looks like, a brides veil. This is one of the many wonders in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio,

This is a stretchy headband....my husband said it looks like a fun place to go 4 wheeling. :)

BasΓlica de Nuestra SeΓ±ora de Guanajuato contains a jewel-covered image of the Virgin, patron of Guanajuato. The wooden statue was supposedly hidden from the Moors in a cave in Spain for 800 years. Felipe II of Spain gave it to Guanajuato in thanks for the wealth it provided to the crown.
I like how this photograph could represent many diverging themes or stories.

The gardener was tidying the beds and borders as we walked past.
The red apple tree was abundant with apples
The hidden waterfall at Andrew Haydon Park in Ottawa. I refer to it as hidden as it took me three visits to the park (earlier this year) to find it. Because it is hidden from view itβs a lovely secluded spot to sit, take in the view, and of course, to take photos.
This was my first time using an ND filter, it will not be my last π
